What do commercial operations like yours do with all those splits? Out of 1000 colonies let's say you will get 700 extra splits? 600? Do you cull that many a yr ? I know you make a lot of nucs but just seems like on a yr like this you will have an extreme excess? So blessed, especially after last yrs struggles!

      Yes, boxes will be filled.
Combining after culling. Once my battery is full, I’ll sell brood or bees. This business is all about managing numbers through surges

"What a treat" - for sure. Last year was such a struggle. You might be able to sell a few bees this year.

to deal with the mud, suggest you build a trailer for hauling boxes to the yards with a tractor when the trucks make a mess

We drill holes in the 4 ways for drainage. Or have a 1/4 inch gap between side strips and back Bees looking great!

Kinda expected that Manitoba would have been later than us in northern Ontario Sault STE Marie. But based on the grass growth and brood development, I'd say we are about two weeks behind.

Of all the elements that bees have to deal with I think being wet is a big one.

If i were to put patties on here in Florida i would have beetles coming out my ass! You are lucky to not have to deal with that in the colder area! Your bees are nice and strong! 😀

You mentioned approximately 4 lbs of supplements per colony , how much sugar have you added to them since they have come out of the shed? Your bees look amazing! Job well done !!

I think this is my 4th spring with you, with no two at all similar.
    And not a beekeeper.
I say that to qualify my opinion.
That emotion you are feeling and its magnitude....it is NOT measured against last year's nadir.
I have watched you enough to argue that you measure against what is possible rather than what has been the history.
That feeling you are feeling is because what you are tending to this year is so near optimum. (There may be apiaries doing as well as you, but none are doing better.)
The party pooper then says, "no one ever won a game in the first quarter".
I look and wonder if you should pull in an extra pair of hands for this front end? When you find yourself running the rapids, an extra paddle can make a lot of difference.
