You always manage to explain things in the simplest way possible and that's what attracts many I believe to your channel. As for Nightwish I have no words. Just WOW
The instrumentation of these songs(not just this song but the whole album) is fantastic and I find myself drawn to the songs through the instruments they use. Also a Celtic feel with some of the songs which is a total win for me.
It is great to acknowledge influences of great composers like Tuomas Holopainen! One of the major influence of Tuomas Holopainen is VANGELIS, Oscar-winning for the film Chariots of Fire. The intro of ‘Music’ is partly inspired by him! The thematology of the album as well since Vangelis wrote the music for the NASA mission: 2001 Mars Odyssey and an asteroid was named after him.
Oh hello dear Elvann, I've waited for this! Just bought the album today and listened through it completly, after I already heard a few songs before. I can only say, it's a pure masterpiece! With this, Nightwish set the definition of Symphonic Metal on a whole new level, and you will highly emjoy it, I'm sure! And who could be better to make a reaction to it than you...the combination of your love for Nightwish and your musical expertise make your reactions every time to a special pleasure for me:-) Can't wait for you doing Shoemaker, that will blow you away, I promise!
Hi Elvann!! great review!! the vocal work in this song, and in general the entire album is fantastic.. also, in an Q&A with Tuomas, he mentioned the initial idea for this song was bad.. trying to use several music styles (rock, jazz,electronic.. like bohemian rhapsody).. he said.. "the fact that you have an idea, doesn't mean it is a good idea".... Have a great day an see you in the next one!!
I love your reaction videos! As a musician and vocalist myself I truly appreciate how you break it all down. Well done. One thing that struck me this time listening to this was that Floor’s opening lines are quite reminiscent of bird songs and that is, perhaps, in part what inspired humans to create our own music. So many amazing layers to Nightwish, like an onion. Also it makes me tear up every time. Tuomas really is a genius.
I think this is the most daring and challenging album. Heading into new directions is always a huge gamble whether it is voluntarily or not, but with musicians as these you cannot leave the opportunity. It's also to keep the band's mind on track. Challenging them to go beyond their current abilities. They have to reinvent themselves to keep each other entertained especially on a level as this. Of course Tuomas can write the same style of songs over and over, but does it still make him happy writing in the same style? One fan will be disappointed because of this, and another one will be happy. That's how it goes. And I............ I am happy :)

Please please please do a full rambly ranty video discussing (a)tonal music, harmony and other parts of music theory.
Have you watched Tuomas` answering questions on Nightwish channel? He said about this song that he wanted to devide it into 4 parts: metal, electronic, jazz and pop. Like combining different types of music, showing, what music can be. And when he did that, it was "the goofiest thing he ever heard", so he made it another way. And you said "influences", it might be his idea and he did it on purpose.
Love the way you get completely into your reactions, you have such a understanding of music and Nightwish.. Love your reactions and falling more and more in love with you and your engagement.. Stay Safe
Hello Elvann! I like your analysis is the one I most wanted to see. THX. It started with 2001, a Space Odyssey (music and video got married well) and then came a drumming with video from Avatar. Here are two big surprises, Floor's new vocal (7'14 "reminded me of Best Zengers) and heavier guitars than other albums. At 12'34" there is something of IBM / Industrial. I realized after listening about 5 times. At 14 minutes, a climate similar to Ataraxia.
I could go on and on in this comment, but that would bore you. I'm glad you mentioned Floor's interview regarding the challenges in this record, and it's clear that she was honest about having to put the work in to make this work. It was also obvious how closely you were listening and analyzing, which is exactly what I expected. Thanks for doing this - you're the best.
Can't wait to hear how they arrange the songs in live. How Floor shines with this one and how amazing Marcos and Troys harmonies must sound live. Tuomas and Nightwish makes great albums, but they are a live spectacle foremost!
There are two bands in the world today that have no boundaries on their influences. Nightwish, and Band-Maid. Both borrow freely from classical, jazz, funk, rock, metal.. you name it.
Great reaction :) Love the fact that you pointed out how tough it is to sing this! No one would doubt your credentials, as it takes an amazing singer to see one! Would love to see a breakdown of the song like you did for Harvest. Of this entire album, if you can spare the time for us needy tinkers.
What I hear with the quick notes is maybe an oriental influence? Like it sounds a bit like the demi-tones (I don't know if it's the correct term, so tell me if I'm wrong) in arabic music, mostly. Quick notes like that are also kind of used in a lot of world music, aren't they? What I also really love about this album is the visuals in the lyrics videos. Like here you have the lyre of Ur, in Shoemaker, the Moon and asteroids or comets (Shoemaker-Levy comet?), Tribal with the skeleton dance and Endlessness with the cosmic imagery, for example.
Modal melodies, difficult diction, range leaps at counterintuitive intervals, WOW. I think you were trying to say the unconventional directions keep it exciting and unpredictable.
I don't purchase CD's since 2007 or 08.. and when I heard this, the next morning, I had one thing in mind. Go buy this album , on principe 👌 just take my money and give me this masterpiece 🤟
They will definitely start the concerts with this song.Imagine them opening with Kai drumming that beginning part, and then Floor singing those lyrics, which are quite introductional for the song itself, like "Want a tale in major scale?" or "It is coming your way, the very first song". Yeah, it's the first song of the album, and yeah, it's in major scale...damn, Tuomas
Hi Elvann, I appreciate you doing this reviews are very inspirational and you really make it nice to understand Nightwish's heart. Floor really went to a different level of artistry with these songs from Human Nature, Tuomas writing is very difficult in this album specially for Floor and I am happy she delivered Tuoma's vision. Thank you for your reviews are very educational.
Since I've listen the album I was waiting for your reaction. The first time I heard this album I was dissapointed, after giving another chances now I love it. Can't wait to see your reaction to the finales of Shoemaker. Love your voice. Thanks.
Great review & reaction Elvann as always! This is one of my favorites off "Human Nature" I really like the way it's written & Floor's voice is remarkable. Hopefully can fly out to see them in September if this virus is over by then. I have a feeling they might open with this on their new tour and end the show with "Noise." OK .. Maybe.
I really love all the explanations you give in your reactions! It makes you different because at least I appreciate the technical aspects of the music. I bet Floor does the same when she approaches a new song! Love it!!! 🤘🖤
I think the first listen to this song is quite challenging for most Nightwish fans but I have to admit that it sounds really cool now I have listened to it quite a few times these last couple of days. I wonder if the vocal patterns may be traditional from the past as were the instruments? Tribal drums, the first know harp from 2800bc or so the bone whistle etc. That would be a very Tuomas thing.
I have a feeling Tuomas said holy shit when Floor took over when Annette left and realized wow this lady needs a semi trailer to pull her vocal toolbox around and millions of musical compositions floated in the air around him and he looked at Floor and said bring it on
I saw interviews where Tuomas confirmed that the first disc has string ensemble and choirs only, no full orchestra, that's only used on the second disc.
As old fan of the Nightwish, when i listened to this album and particular this song first time, I... didn't like it to much.... something like "well.... ok.... not bad, but could be better...".... BUT!!! while istening to this album one and once again, i've noticed that every time i listen to it, I become addicted to it more and more, find an discover for myself interesting ad unusual parts... And now, I catch myself on thoughts like "I wonder, will Tuomas be able to overcome himself, or this album still the best forever"... It's pretty strange...
Maybe, the real genius of Tuomas and Nightwish is not to stay at the same place using old style over and over again, but to give us new feelings every new album.
In the beginning of "Music" you may hear something that may sound like an organ. I know Toumas Holopainen is a fan of Hans Zimmer and I came to think of the movie "Interstellar". It is in the scene where they must connect with the mother ship. ua-cam.com/video/a3lcGnMhvsA/v-deo.html PS: I'm a little bit disappointed you don't went into fangirl-mode for having a harps in video.
Im a long time fan of Nightwish, im a fan from the beginning, sice angel fall first. I thought i never say this but Floor is overcome Tarja even in the opera part.
After I heard that song for the first time, I started to wonder whether Toumas might be trying to push Floor towards becoming something like a coloratura soprano.
Debussy's a good comparison. There are Daphnis and Chloe vibes throughout several of the songs. I was particularly put in mind here of L'Cathedral Engloutie (The Engulfed Cathedral). Listen to Stokowski's orchestration of same. Also some of Jacques Ibert and the other French impressionists.
Yeah! Exactly! French impressionists is probably a more accurate way to say it, I picked Debussy because he's my ideal representation of impressionism, but in truth it's much broader than that. And let me say, French Impressionism is by far my favorite musical era.
@@ElvannReacts Aw, you're a romantic ;). From that period, try some Charles Touremeire (the last 5 minutes of his 6th symphony are how I think of Floor). Also Joseph Jongen (an organ symphony that rivals Saint-Saens).

Question!! please answer? Which one of Sondheim musicals? I Thought the same, it fits the musical theater genre, but mixing it with some classical rock influences.
Original idea Tuomas had for Music was to go over the history of music incorporating as many musical styles as possible. He said when he made the demo of that it was horrible, and he mentioned that this song was his biggest challenge on the album. In this Q&A ua-cam.com/video/u6fDUK1xM3Y/v-deo.html
Nice reaction, thank you. 👍 Those ”up`n`downs” in the verse and the way she is singing it reminds me of Kate Bush to some degree. Excellent track and excellent album.
It’s the way Floor delivers the songs and what she makes me feel listening to Nightwish songs. And that doesn’t happen to me so much with Tarja, even though she is a hell of a singer.
Let's face it, most native English speakers would be tripping over their tongues trying to get some of those lines out at that speed. I think that's what impressed me most about this song: retaining clarity of diction within a very complex rhythmic and melodic framework.

You always manage to explain things in the simplest way possible and that's what attracts many I believe to your channel. As for Nightwish I have no words. Just WOW
Can't wait to hear a live version of this, it has such a difficult vocal part.
Same!!!
And that my lady is why i follow you as well on spotify .. You are one in a kind .. no words needed ... You are great
Thank youuu Martin!! ❤️❤️❤️
Yay I've been waiting for your reaction to this album. Really excited to hear your insights on all the tracks.
And who could be better to make a reaction to it than you...the combination of your love for Nightwish and your musical expertise make your reactions every time to a special pleasure for me:-)
Can't wait for you doing Shoemaker, that will blow you away, I promise!
In beginnin of the video was oldest harp that has been found 😉
Hi Elvann!! great review!! the vocal work in this song, and in general the entire album is fantastic.. also, in an Q&A with Tuomas, he mentioned the initial idea for this song was bad.. trying to use several music styles (rock, jazz,electronic.. like bohemian rhapsody).. he said.. "the fact that you have an idea, doesn't mean it is a good idea".... Have a great day an see you in the next one!!
I would like to hear them do Bohemian Rhapsody one day.
The height of the tone is a nice to have, but using different techniques gives more depths to any voice.
Would love to see you do some covers of their new album 😊😁
Jan Žegklitz I agree, so may who say They like these... those get boring. These Are Great, but I Also like to hear what is happening, why and how!
Debussy is a good example. Stravinsky would be another that fits. There’s a very “Rite of Spring” feel, especially at the beginning.
Brock O'Meles I was Also thinking those two! Composers that paint worlds and feelings, and situations with music!
Floor really shows the control in her voice on this album.
This album is a metaphore. Every thing has a frequency. Music is frequency. So Music is everything ...
What a beautiful, insightful reaction Elvann .. as much as I love Floor (from afar) I find you quite wonderful too :)
Can't wait to hear how they arrange the songs in live. How Floor shines with this one and how amazing Marcos and Troys harmonies must sound live. Tuomas and Nightwish makes great albums, but they are a live spectacle foremost!
Music is such a subtle grower, it's starting to climb my fave ladder
There are two bands in the world today that have no boundaries on their influences. Nightwish, and Band-Maid. Both borrow freely from classical, jazz, funk, rock, metal.. you name it.
Great reaction :) Love the fact that you pointed out how tough it is to sing this! No one would doubt your credentials, as it takes an amazing singer to see one! Would love to see a breakdown of the song like you did for Harvest. Of this entire album, if you can spare the time for us needy tinkers.
This whole thing is a masterpiece!!! Both Human AND Nature!!! I can't wait till you get to Tribal and procession!!! 😁🤘🤘❤️🤘🤘
The choir on that backing track was just totally awesome!!
How's The Heart acoustic - pleasе 🙏
But after the album version. I liked the album version but adored/loved the acoustic version.
Thank you! And please, I need as much as reactions as possible to "Nightwish - how's the heart acoustic version"
Thank you for taking the time to witness all the subtleties of the song, new subscriber keep em coming!
I'm excited for this series! Great reaction. Greetings from Argentina
My first reaction was that I hadn't heard anything quite like it, but it's beautiful.
They always works with the same choire, from London
Since I've listen the album I was waiting for your reaction.
The first time I heard this album I was dissapointed, after giving another chances now I love it.
Can't wait to see your reaction to the finales of Shoemaker.
Love your voice.
Thanks.
Can see this be an intro at coming concerts..hope so. And thanx 4 great reaction as always!
Great reaction. I really enjoy hearing your thoughts and analysis.
Maybe.
You always make me want to go back studying music
I really love all the explanations you give in your reactions! It makes you different because at least I appreciate the technical aspects of the music. I bet Floor does the same when she approaches a new song! Love it!!! 🤘🖤
I think the first listen to this song is quite challenging for most Nightwish fans but I have to admit that it sounds really cool now I have listened to it quite a few times these last couple of days. I wonder if the vocal patterns may be traditional from the past as were the instruments? Tribal drums, the first know harp from 2800bc or so the bone whistle etc. That would be a very Tuomas thing.
thanks for breaking this down Elvann .. i like the way you do that ..
I have a feeling Tuomas said holy shit when Floor took over when Annette left and realized wow this lady needs a semi trailer to pull her vocal toolbox around and millions of musical compositions floated in the air around him and he looked at Floor and said bring it on
Thanks keep up the good work the people need your hard work it helps us get through the dark quarantine days
I saw interviews where Tuomas confirmed that the first disc has string ensemble and choirs only, no full orchestra, that's only used on the second disc.
this content is golden hope you continue to grow
I was thinking more Mahler than Debussy, as he really likes to build up at the beginning of his works, especially his symphonies.
a fantastic album
In the beginning of "Music" you may hear something that may sound like an organ. I know Toumas Holopainen is a fan of Hans Zimmer and I came to think of the movie "Interstellar". It is in the scene where they must connect with the mother ship.

PS:
I'm a little bit disappointed you don't went into fangirl-mode for having a harps in video.
I just heard your coversongs on Deezer. Oh my gosh, you totally have such a great voice :o ♡ much love from Germany :)
I love this album Music is a great start this magnificent album Tuomas is such a musical genius.
Nice reaction...up to the next one..👍
😁👍🤘 luckely i'm on a mini vacation, Love it!!
If you really dig the first two minutes from *Music* , than you may interestet in the band *Heilung* .

Edit: Why can't the comment-box support bb-codes?
Ya know, ithink I'm hearing some Pink Floyd influences. Especially in the beginning. Reminds me of things like Echoes from Meddle 😉 And Shine On You Crazy Diamond 😎
Who else increased their volume when Elvann lowered hers?
Great song; out of everything on the album, this one has grown on me the most. I hear some Sondheim influences in the opening verses.
Question!! please answer? Which one of Sondheim musicals?
I Thought the same, it fits the musical theater genre, but mixing it with some classical rock influences.
Original idea Tuomas had for Music was to go over the history of music incorporating as many musical styles as possible. He said when he made the demo of that it was horrible, and he mentioned that this song was his biggest challenge on the album.
In this Q&A
ua-cam.com/video/u6fDUK1xM3Y/v-deo.html
Tuomas does record tracks with a real choir and orchestra.
Nice! waiting for more... tyvm for your analysis.
Nice reaction, thank you. 👍 Those ”up`n`downs” in the verse and the way she is singing it reminds me of Kate Bush to some degree. Excellent track and excellent album.
just wait for Shoemaker :D
Good reaction, Please do How’s the hart , Planet rock, acoustic version, it’s very nice!
Ooohhh babyyy - let’s gooo! 🤘🖤😍🖤🤘
Also, 8:58 - the look of OH DEAR, I could explain SO MUCH! 😂😂
It's incredible! You should react to Lockdown by Big Ass Fish at some point hahah
It’s the way Floor delivers the songs and what she makes me feel listening to Nightwish songs.
And that doesn’t happen to me so much with Tarja, even though she is a hell of a singer.
And yes, looks like Tuomas go away from epic symphonic sound to more thinner and chamber
Somewhat reminiscent of the "Also Sprach Zarathustra" opening in the movie "2001", no?
