very true. as far as tone, i prefer this to Justin's. i cant stand the way a pick sounds on a bass. but he still gets the not for writing the parts, lol!! great cover man!!
... left gasping.... it’s such a complex, layered song - I don’t know how you kept up with all the twists and turns of the evolving ‘Grudge’ never mind the technical challenge! Nice one Jamie!
Sometimes i wonder... Would i be able to play bass? Why don't i just buy one and try... Then, i see this video and think... Shit, this is way of something i even can imagine a bass and a bassist could do. Simply amazing
I've been enjoying the HELL out of your cover videos... but I have to ask; did you take formal lessons, and if you did, who was your teacher? I'm seeing a LOT of things I learned from the instructor I worked with in your right hand in particular. You have a specific style that you're using often in this video that rings oh so very familiar, and I am curious as hell if we may have had the same teacher, and/or influence.
I’m really glad you enjoyed my covers. Thank you. I’ve never actually had a formal lesson, but I have had the opportunity to work with some very knowledgeable musicians which has helped me along the way. On a technique stand point I drew a lot inspiration from Ryan Martinie, John Entwistle, Chris Wolstenholme and Geddy Lee to name a few.
Fingernail picking and octave tapping? Well, you took the best song Tool ever wrote, and coated in ghost pepper bass sauce. That was on fire.
Excellent work! I'm completely mesmerized by your cover. Bravo!
Thank you so much. I’m glad you like the cover!
One of the coolest things I've seen 👍
Ryan Martinie plays Tool. Cool!
Юрий Мохов I'm honored. Ryan Martinie is a sick bassist. Thank you!

Grandioso!!!!!!!
that`s an easy one, right? ;-)....breathtaking performance, lotta fun to watch
The true beauty of your bass's tone comes out when you are finger playing.
awesome take on this song I do love your tone. correct me if I'm wrong but, is your technique inspired by Ryan Martinie from mudvane ?
Manuel Tovar Thank you very much for the kind words. I did learn a lot of Mudvayne songs when I first started out playing bass. Well observed!
Incredible tone. I'm wondering, is it the video FPS that makes the strings look so wobbly earlier on, or is that how they just are?
It's the framerate, no string looks like that live, well there might be some strings but not any bass string tuned like so
I wish I knew how to play bass like that.....
woah! O_o
Hi Jamie, a quick one: which combo brand do you like to use with a Warwick? I mean: does the Ampeg color a lot the sound of the bass? Any suggestion?
Which strings?
Why do so many tool covers end up getting played on 5 strings? Seems to be a weird coincidence. Well im off to play my 5 string...
what is the standard tuning key of this song ?
The tuning is drop d (D1 A1 D2 G2), and the key is D major I believe, hope this helps :)
Are you using a compressor?
Missing some delay, but it still sounds awesome!
Foda!
Vraıment bıen
M'lord if you could only spare tabs for the people
You definitely put your own spin on it, and I really respect that! Check out my own version if you get a chance.
Ryan martinie clone!
