    I'm here to share my skills and shortcuts, and help you learn how to make foam costumes and props, too.

    The only thing I can think of to improve upon this design would be to curl the toe of the boot up like on the base shoe, This will help the wearer walk and avoid clumping around as though one is wearing bricks on their feet. Other than that, I love this design and hope to use it in the future.

      Rose M thats exactly what i was thinking! i was cringing a little thinking of having to walk in something like that lol seems like thats something most people overlook when making diy platforms.

    You should try looking for something called Cloud it's a heavy duty foam used for platform shoes. I believe you can purchase it at Kauffman shoe supply in New York. It will make the shoe a lot lighter and save you time.... I used to makes shoes thought it might be helpful :)

    Love your tutorials, very detailed , one question though would you have any tutorial on how to make items like those skulls using casts, I'm interested in making shoulder armour in the form of dragon heads something like the ones dracula has in the Dracula Untold movie and if yes is your answer what products would be best to use , I know how to model clay no probs with that, would appreciate it a lot many thanks keep the great work!!!

    Thanks for the vids Ted. I read a great foam measuring tip the other day from wmarmory, and that is to make yourself a foam ruler out of the the same foam you are using, and measure with that instead of the cloth tape measure, that way you will get the exact measurements you need without guesswork.

    Just a thought but for added strength and support would it be possible to glue aor screw in some dowels either side of the main centre raising piece of wood. I was just thinking where the wooden soles go out wide from the centre piece. Like I said just a thought I had about strengthening and giving a bit more support. Would be interested in your thoughts on that idea

  • @blakelycreative3171
    @blakelycreative3171 3 роки тому +1

    It looks like the center support could fail and cause some major ankle damage. I’d add some side supports to prevent that.

    Pardon me if I've missed anything, but I would love to know how you are mounting pauldrons, shin armor, bracers, etc... not only to the wearer but relative to each other to not allow slippage.
    Thanks for all of your great information!

    Random Thought. Ignore me if you think it's horrible. But since you didn't have time to show the steps you took applying the skulls, though you stated that they were sitting around from a stockpile you have from old projects. Place them on your store, that way people could buy them off you. And make the boots that you seem to be asked for all the time.

      I been using Barge for a good two weeks now. I am Liking it a lot but for pieces I want pure solidarity I'm adding hotglue to reinforce. on my flexible pieces I am definitely sticking with barge only. And I'm gonna try the cheaper DAP cement to see if it works as well so I'm not chewing through my budget later on

      You'd just need to cut a longer piece, cut out V shapes so it will fit the curve of the shoes and bevel the edge so instead it's a curve instead of a 45 degree angle. You can use a dremel tool to shape the curve on the foam. He goes over that in a few of his videos.
