So this channel made me aware of the existence of Auntie Annie's, and yesterday I noticed one in my local shopping mall, in Brighton UK. It's was even open! I have nothing more to add
You not being from Philadelphia would not know we do not really like Aunt Annie’s pretzels. They are way too light compared to a traditional Philadelphia soft pretzel. If you visit our city some time try and get one of our traditional soft pretzels from either a local small food store or other street vendor. They are easy to spot compared to the ones you usually get in the mall or larger stores. They are much longer and thicker which leads to their unique full taste, best when eaten with mustard on top, either traditional yellow or spicy brown. And if you are at the right place you can pair it with a nice Italian water ice. Which makes a nice fast lunch for many Philadelphians especially in the hot summer months. Thanks for the video on your trips, but as a long time Amtrak rider you should know not to expect any snack bar service either right out of your originating station or usually after the last big station before the train terminates. I just think it is one of Amtrak’s things that should be changed and the snack car should open upon departure and be available right up to terminal station. But I guess they just don’t want to pay to have someone board early to get things ready and also pay someone to close out the snack car after arrival.
@@johnchambers8528 Hey, I make sure to get Miller's every time I'm at Reading Terminal! But you can't expect Philly-quality pretzels everywhere you go, so Auntie Anne's is the next best thing.
@@MilesinTransit you make a good point. But I have on occasion found a good Philadelphia style soft pretzel in cities outside the Philadelphia area. Same thing goes for a good hoggie. I ordered one and was surprised to find the owner of this shop really did his homework. It was on a great Italian style roll and had all the iconic meats and cheeses that you would find on a local hoggie in Philadelphia. They even offered a selection of peppers to chose from to add to your sandwich. It was so good I talked with the manager and told him he made a very good Philadelphia style Italian hoggie. Random comment but the brownstones you point out at 1:32 are actually Airbnbs. Had the misfortune of staying at that exact place… it got the slumlord treatment inside… real gross and the ceiling leaked in my room…. and it was pretty overpriced too lol. It is what it is…
It's easier to get Select status by getting the Amtrak credit card with the annual fee and putting $25k a year on it (it's a Mastercard, so you can put rent or mortgage on it, if you need to pad things out).

Sadly RI does not do Patriots Day... when my gf (from RI) moved to MA, she was very confused that we did not have Victory Day off, but was later very excited to have the holiday in April for Patriots Day!
I have a challenge. From the Jersey Shore to Middletown NY (which covers 2 Middletowns) via Local buses. Catch: you MUST Uber/Lyft between Perth Amboy NJ and Staten Island via Outerbridge Crossing. You need to get to Bricktown Mall to catch bus service, and you'll need to take the S79 SBS into Brooklyn.

uggg, lived in Austin, TX for 10 years. The had hourly mile long freight trains but as far as passenger trains there was one northbound and one southbound daily. And you had to be a big rail fan because the drive to Dallas was 3 hours, train ride was 5 hours. Sit back, let somebody else drive. I wish i lived in the 'Al Gore universe' where there was a high speed triangle between Dallas, Houston and Austin
there appears to be a plan to run HSR along the median of the expressway linking LA & Vegas, but no mention of whether its curves be gentle enough for super duper trains... this BS intent is especially similar to that approach at dotting serfs' windows & port holes...
Cool video and entertaining. Well done. I was impressed with the 150 mph. Didn't know Acela went that fast How long did it hold that speed? BTW, what's select status?
It doesn't go that fast for too long, it's only a couple short stretches - but they're upgrading track in New Jersey to get it to go that fast there as well. Select Status gets you a few extra Amtrak perks that probably aren't worth what I spent for them!
NO Patriots Day in RI, but we do get a holiday every month from July through January (I guess technically February, but I don't get Presidents Day off so I don't care)
The reason why it says boarding 5-10 minutes before it arrives and departs and around 2-5 minutes for last call is since they use that system at terminal stations and Amtrak was lazy to fix it.. I also agree with you about Route 128, it's a really good station, people say it would be removed or have limited service which reminds me when I was like 5 I would railfan there and look at the Boston skyline.. good times.

Random comment but the brownstones you point out at 1:32 are actually Airbnbs. Had the misfortune of staying at that exact place… it got the slumlord treatment inside… real gross and the ceiling leaked in my room…. and it was pretty overpriced too lol. It is what it is…
Oof, sounds awful!
Miles: You just earned Amtrak Select Status! What are you going to do next?
I, uh, haven't thought that far ahead yet...
@@MilesinTransit "I'M GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!"
I just love when you do these kinds of trips. I just absolutely love it!!!
Thank you!
It's easier to get Select status by getting the Amtrak credit card with the annual fee and putting $25k a year on it (it's a Mastercard, so you can put rent or mortgage on it, if you need to pad things out).
That's a good point!
because no one else will: smoking popes @14:26
What's the song called?
@@MilesinTransit the song is called “Need You Around”
Claire's, Journey's, and Spencer's Gifts are all owned by different companies. (Spencer's does own Spirit Halloween, Journey's is owned by Genesco, a shoe company, and Claire's is owned by private equity firms)
Huh, no way! I feel like they're always grouped together!
one day Miles is gonna go to Japan and have an absolute train blast
He should go to Germany too. And the Czech Republic.
@@ninyaninjabrifsanovichthes45 the Netherlands domestic trains are amazing. I miss them everyday
thank you for saying nothing bad about providence because there is nothing bad to say about providence 🥰
SO TRUE
Random guy at 14:48 IDGAF 🤣Classic City background noise.
Sadly RI does not do Patriots Day... when my gf (from RI) moved to MA, she was very confused that we did not have Victory Day off, but was later very excited to have the holiday in April for Patriots Day!
Dang, I thought they got both!
14:43 ah, the ambience of Kennedy Plaza
Yes, thank you, I totally preferred the regional over the Acela! Too bright, and a weird vibration.
Great video as always Miles! Enjoyed this one.
Thank you!
Thanks for the Providence highlights! Now that you have accomplished your points goal, which two Amtrak lounges are you going to visit?
Probably Moynihan and Moynihan...
@@MilesinTransit Good Choices! Particularly since you have already completely explored and spent time in Rugby Amtrak Station North Dakota!
literally F seat 11 f. providence honestly looks nice there cool place.
14:28 I thought you were seated at the table with someone else lol
Does anyone else yell, "focus damnit!" at Miles' camera?
I do!
What seat SHOULD we pick?
I think people were saying the 12 row is really good?
i can’t believe they made TSW2 rush hour in real life
i take amtrak business class once every 2 months for a long trip and i purposefully will only get on the specific train numbers with business class having those giant brown seats. I absolutely refuse to ride business class on trains that don't have them.
Is there a way to tell? I know the overnight trains and the Vermonter have them, but I don't know which others!
@@MilesinTransit i thought i responded to this but my comment isn't here. Full list is on the amtrak website for NE regional business class reservations
Re high-speed trains telling you the speed: inexplicably, the Amtrak Cascades Talgo 8s do this, despite not going over 79!
wake up babe miles posted
Thank you for making something seemingly crazy so entertaining!
Thank YOU for watching the madness!
Haven’t been to RI in years but I used to go to CTY (aka nerd camp) at Roger Williams University in Bristol and Rhode Island really has It’s charms (though getting into Bristol required going into Massachusetts). Also, I think they’re the only state that celebrates Victory Day.
Kinda want a Del’s lemonade right now.
If you take 114 off of 195, you can stay entirely in RI between Providence and Bristol. 136 is just faster, though
5:47 you can like.... hang out!!!
14:27 Now there are two of him
Worst nightmare
😂🎉
uggg, lived in Austin, TX for 10 years.
Only someone crazy as you would take three trips to Providence in the same day all in the name of our entertainment.
Today I noticed 2 small company coaches running routes for one bigger company. I'm sure I would not have noticed this had I never watched your videos
Ooh, that sounds neat!
NO Patriots Day in RI, but we do get a holiday every month from July through January (I guess technically February, but I don't get Presidents Day off so I don't care)
well at least you have a good run and why not seat 11F?
Providence Mentioned! Can't wait to return in a few days.
doing a Acela, Philly to Boston, first time Amtrak rider, which is the safe row for better window? I don't want 11F.
Oof, I actually don't know! I don't ride the Acela enough to have a grasp on which seats are best.
Incidentally, the Amtrak Cascades usually do tell the current speed---even though it is usually around 55 mph or so.
Interesting!
If you are on a Talgo trainsets.
Great vid! Makes me want to go to Providence.
It's an underrated city! Lots of cool neighborhoods I missed too.
The reason why it says boarding 5-10 minutes before it arrives and departs and around 2-5 minutes for last call is since they use that system at terminal stations and Amtrak was lazy to fix it..
I also agree with you about Route 128, it's a really good station, people say it would be removed or have limited service which reminds me when I was like 5 I would railfan there and look at the Boston skyline.. good times.
