The built in mic sounds surprisingly good and doesn't pick up much low frequency noise. That's good, because a scenario where one can forget the lav mic or simply doesn't have the time to install and connect every piece, is a probable one.
Nice review. Certainly sounded better (to my untrained ear) than your built in mic! A comparison with the Rode Wireless Go (which it clearly emulates) would be interesting. Thx!
Nice video and a nice yard! :) I'll check that system out when I am ready to start shooting outside of my studio. I'm curious about how you got the time markers to show up in the time slider at the bottom of the video. That is pretty slick. I am working on an hour long video now and it would be great if I could use a similar technique to help people jump to the chapters they are looking for.
Hey Thanks! It' super easy to add the markers in the video slider. Look at my video description and all you have to do is start with 0:00 and then after that add the times you want the 'chapters' or topics to start at. It will automatically put it in the video above. It's a great tool!
Thanks for the Yadlovski compliment! haha. Had to use the kids playhouse to film. Needed a place to put all that stuff! Audio got a little wonky on me, but whatcha gonna do! 😁
@@JasonYadlovski - That is awesome. I will definitely give that a go. I am working on a detailed How-to-Play Axis & Allies 1942. I am expecting it to be about 1:10:00-ish. It is going to need chapter markers.
Yeah, I struggled with not being happy with the audio on this one. Had to settle with 'done is better than perfect'. 😁 The chapter markers are great. Such a help for people who are watching.
I've found that by placing a rubber glove over the Mics in my Zoom H4n Pro I can eliminate 99% of wind moise with out a dead cat. The dead cat for the Zoom products is junk anyway. Try placing the mic in a rubber glove or a piece of scotch tape over the mic hole and stand in front of a veriable speed fan. Would make a great follow up.
Thank you so much!!! Really helpful. One question, what´s the name of the cable you suggested for connecting an apple cellphone to the transmitter? and is this lack of wire what makes the video recorded directly from the phone to have no noise... no audio? Thank you!
Hi! You'll need a TRRS cable that comes with the unit and you'll need a plug that can go from a phone (for me it's an apple lightening connector) to a 3.5mm jack. The iPhone I have came with one of those connectors. Thanks for watching!
Hi, I can't find a video that will walk me through how to set this up. I got it in the mail, but I am super visual and would love if you made a video like that!
Hi! It’s pretty much plug and play. Set the audio levels on your camera if you can and then you can make minor adjustments on the units themselves if you need to. I think I showed how to do that in the video. Thanks for watching!
Hey hey! I just got the two mic Pixel kit and was wondering what level settings did you find worked the best for the receiver and transmitter? It seems to distort a bit at full volume, like it's overdriving the recorder. I heard you say the Tx was set to 12db. Same for the Rx?
Hi! Congrats on picking up the mics! I haven’t used them in a while, I’d have to check to see what I used. Ideally I’d keep them as low as you can and still get a good levels. Balance that with decent levels on your camera as well.
I want to be able to record one Mic to the #3 channel & the other Mic to record to the #4 channel of my Zoom H4n PRO Recorder while the #1 & #2 channels recorde the Ambient sound. Now I need a second Receiver to record both Mics to the Left Channel on my Canon XA-30 & the Shot gun Mic records to the Right Chanel. i.e. can I Receive the output of 2 Pixel UHF Wireless Lavalier Mics on 2 different Pixel UHF Wireless Lavalier Receivers At the same time.
Hey! Sounds like a little bit of a complicated set up. Can’t you just record all of your different audio channels into your zoom recorder, then sync it up with your camera in Resolve?
@@JasonYadlovski The ZOOM H4n is 50' from the camera in most of my situation's. And the Audio is Different than the Camera audio too. Having a lot of background noise with these. And if I move the slightest bit, the sound gets hazzy and it sounds like I’m banging on the mic and the sound cuts in and out. Any idea why this could be??
I would double check all the connections, make sure everything is tight. Then maybe try and figure out if it’s the unit themselves or the microphone. You can always try using another Lav mic or even any mic that has a headphone type jack. For example headphones that come with an iPhone. You could also try switching the channels on the units maybe there’s some interference coming from something. Maybe also check the placement of the microphone, is it getting banged up against something? If still nothing works, I would reach out to the company and see what they say about the problem. Thanks for watching and best of luck!
Hi! I’ve never used an Insta 360, Maybe check out the user manual and see what it says about connecting external microphones. Thanks for checking out the video and best of luck with your new gear!
It comes with a 3.5mm headphones style cord that you can plug into the headphone jack of the computer to record directly to the computer. That's assuming the headphone jack on your computer can accept audio in. I'm on a Mac and it works that way.
Both the mic transmitter aand the lav mic lack a wind supressor (Dead Cat). Lppks bigger than the Rode Wireless GO but comes with lav mic and case ect. For range put it on your front and go away with your back to the camera PLZ cause that's how I use it most of the time.

Impressive piece of kit on the whole, especially the distance recording. Could be just what I’ve been looking for. Thanks Jason.

How do you shut off the built in microphone so you don't get feedback when using the lavalier microphone??
On my 5D Mark IV it turns off automatically when you plug in an external mic.
Nice bit of kit - doesn't seem to be available in the UK yet...
