Making Some BIG Upgrades in Cities Skylines | Crater Lake 25

- Hello and welcome to Crater Lake Episode: 24. This is a Cities: Skylines Let's Play series where I am using inspiration from around the United States to help shape design choices and road layouts. Not all of it is inspired, but I try to bring neat and fun ideas that I have stumbled across and incorporate them somehow into the city. If you would like to join us, subscribe now and watch this beautiful city unfold.
In this episode, we dive into a lot, actually. We start off by adding a new light industrial area. Nothing too crazy but enough to provide a little more support for our budding tourism area. Then we finish off our university with all assets now place! And I think it looks great! Then we move over to our new space, put a football stadium(Soccer if you are in the U.S.), and finish off by addressing transit needs within the city.
Let me know what you think in the comments! : )

Wow! I love how this tram station turned out. Love the detailing as always!
Thank you Joy!
I think you should add a couple of hotels near by the arena. And the most arena areas I've been to also have a plaza and a shopping mall. A parking garage wouldn't hurt either. 😀
I tried to do that little entertainment area but I think your right. We should try to squeeze in a little more amenities for the area. I'll see what we can do
Of course I'm still watching, even with a sense of pride. You have nailed the city building video, tbh, better than anyone else. If I may make one small suggestion, within ever video, take a moment to explain something like a mod or a technique you are using. Five minutes in depth, over an hour, isn't much, but is greatly value added. As far as I've seen, nobody is really doing this. Best wishes.
Thanks Don! I appreciate the support! I think that's a great idea!
@@CityZilla You might make it with a flash card, it's own theme, and get your fans to come up with a catchy name for the segment. I'm sure people will look for it in every episode and it would be very popular. It certainly would stand out from the rest. Glad you like the idea.
Ridiculously late to this series (which I love by the way. I've been binging Crater Lake for days now), Being a Brit, I can tell you that there tends to be a sort of pedestrianised walkway from the transport terminals to the stadium. Littered along the way, tends to the odd bar and store, with the intention of getting thousands of people bottlenecked, so as to not disrupt regular commuters. Look at Wembley Way in London for example. It will stop football fans from unnecessarily using public sidewalks and it helps with police surveillance. Maybe a tip for future builds(?) Either way, thank you for the content. I'm thoroughly enjoying it!
Thank you! It always makes me happy to hear people are enjoying the content
Crater Lake Rockhounds for sure! 😎⚽🏟️
so relaxing to watch you!
You can’t connect metro and train lines together, that’s why your getting no passenger, other wise great work!
Thank you, I know it probably does not look like it In the video but the piece of elevated track closest to the train station is a train line and then the metro is on the opposite side of it. I probably should have shown that a little better. I appreciate the comment though in the event I hadn't caught that!
I love your crazy cuts lmao
Heyy, found your channel few days ago, finished the entire series until now.
really liked the content and editing style.
can't wait for the next vedio.
Thank you for the feedback. I was wondering how people felt about the editing style. I super appreciate it!
Yes, a other good episode of Crater Lake!
You should make a bus line for schools, aka a school bus line
That's a fun idea! We could do a whole school bus network.
that transit hub is really cool.
You could name one of the new neighborhoods Aquifer Gardens. Aquifer means a body of saturated rock or sediment through which water can move readily (I may have gotten the definition from Wikipedia)
Hey I like that name, thanks for the suggestion!
Hey just wanted to given you the pronunciation of Littoral. lit·to·ral. Interesting facts is the us Navy has doctrine dedicated to this area of combat.
That's an awesome fact. I love learning stuff like that. Thank you! The pronunciation was getting me. Thanks for breaking it down.
Elevated tram/train lines is a very american thing. From the top of my head I can only think of the cities of Hamburg and Wuppertal to have them in Europe.
Edit: By elevated I mean the train lines following the layout of the roads. Obviously many train lines are elevated, but usually not on top of roads.
Deffinietally, Its still not a super common practice here its mostly just Chicago and New York. Elevated monorail is in a few places as well. Las Vegas has this as well as Detroit. There are probably more examples as well
At 11:17, you said your building another university. A lot of cities in real life have multiple universities, but one main one. You should make another university as you said but make it smaller. Maybe 3-5 dorms. Not much you know.
Also when you build a American football stadium, you need to add tons of parking. If you go onto google maps and search up Levi stadium, the 49ers stadium, you should kind of think of making the parking like that. They have like 30,000 parking spots split between 3 areas of parking, you should kind of copy that
Thanks for the suggestion I never really thought about size differences.
Thanks for the stadium idea. I have seen that stadium before but it has been many years.
pavement looks a lot better now!
If you moved the dam to between the airport and tourist area would that allow you to have ferrys?
It would, I never thought about that. It would be incredibly unrealistic but having ferries would be nice! Thanks for the idea!
What all mods are you using?
Quite a few. There is a link in the description to my mod collection.
Please can you post the links of all the mods you have?
There is a link in the description to my mod and asset list
@@CityZilla Oh, sorry i didn't see it,Thanks!
Oh don't worry. I get that question a lot. I think I'll start mentioning it more in the videos.
Intestinal transit hub
That's a funny one! Thanks for the suggestion!
Crater Lake Comets
I like that! Thank you!
What map is this?
Hello, it is called Lagoon Shore.
@@CityZilla thank you 😊
No problem : )
