As long as you're okay with paying exorbitant prices for things. Like not being able to take your car to any car shop, having to use Tesla to fix any issue, no matter the cost or time it takes.

Thats a false "mix", these are different groups... those camping in the trees are not the arsonists (vulcan-group), both groups have the same (stupid) goal shutting down the plant. But the group of protesters don't doing something illegal (yet). There will no arrests until evidence. Be patient Police is working on it. Btw. the tree-camp is in the forest north-east Giga-Berlin, where the trainstation/logistic-hub should be build; not in the south-west near Neu-Zittau where the fire melt the cables at that transition mast (overland to underground cable) on a field.

Very large scale adoption of FSD will severely reduce the number of required repair facilities for collision damage I would imagine.

It was complete idiotic and irresponsible to put the factory in Germany and especially in Berlin area!
Poland or Czechia were the obvious, welcoming, cheaper and lightly regulated places hardworking labour at much much lower cost. They would actually want and welcome Tesla there with open arms!

Yeah, generally EVs will turn into disposable items with the costs of repairing being much more than the cost of a new one. They'll become easier to replace than a bad dent, basically 'totaling' it.
Exactly as I said, before Musk decided to build Gigafactory in Germany: much trouble, and at the end of the day Germans will buy this factory for 10% of its value, together with precious technology they will imitate. My advice was to build Gigafactory in Poland,which is US allie.
Elon would rather Sue the German Government for Failure to Abide by That Volumous Agreement to be allowed to Build in The First Place Dumb Ass.

@@garioch65 in Turkey over 1.5 Mio. Cars are produced and 70% are exported to EU countries. And Turkey is not member of EU....

EV car fires take longer to put out. many fire depts lack the proper chemicals to put them out.

I have the same theory. A part of the German greens seem to have been under the influence of Moscow for a long time. Like campaigning to close all the nuclear power plants to... import cheap gaz from Russia instead. It's like the farmer's protests in Poland that end up blocking the delivery of weapon to Ukraine.

Who do you mean? Who is destroying nature? And what nature? You can't just buy land and then build anything on it. When you buy a piece of land with forest trees on it, you can't even cut one single tree down without aproval and several licenses. If you buy a forest, you must maintain that forest. And you'll have to obtain a license to do so, which includes a test, and of course isn't free. You then can do wood business, or leave it as a bird reservoir, or both and whatever. But you can never cut down that whole forest. Even if there's enough cleared space, you can never build a factory there.
You can buy land that's suggested for clearance. Thats still relatively cheap. When you're lucky it can be free for clearance in one or two months. But you could also possibly wait ten years. As long as the land is not yet declared clear for building, you can at maximum do some farming. Don't even think that you can quickly build a house or a factory because clearance will come soon. They will let you tear it all down immediately, and let you pay a real fine. German government makes no fun about this!
So without loosing time, you want to buy aproved land. This is most expensive, but also depends on location. If there are still trees, they are already noted as gone. This is all communal politic. The town/city government classifies and sells the land, usually clears trees, and orders water, sewage, electric and street infrastructure to and around the sold properties. That comes back through the properties tax. Now you can apply for a license to build whatever the land was cleared for.

Extremest come in 2 types.

EVs have lost the plot, at least in the US. The costs are too high (how come the Chinese can sell them so cheap?). The Battery replacement costs alone make used EVs a very bad choice (as compared to used ICE vehicles). E-waste from used Batteries is another bad byproduct. Once Trump comes to power, EV subsidies will be removed and Tesla will be unable to sell their already over-priced EVs. Another 'Achilles heel' is the problem of charging in cold weather - any Tesla being parked on the road (in cold weather) is liable to stop charging - as can already be seen everywhere.
These are union hacks.

According to water district officials Giga Berlin is constantly exceeding amount of the pollutants in their waste water. So, officially, the protestors are wrong here. And Tesla's closed loop water prosecc seems to be less closed loop that it claims it to be.

That seems far lower than simple math would imply. Production is currently 375,000 Tesla Y's annually. They lost a weeks worth of production. About 7,500 cars. The Cars sale for $44K+. Ergo losses are on the order of $330 million. Granted, they don't spend the actual materials, but the workers still had to be paid. They lost the sales because they are capacity limited.

I think that Musk didn't recognize the issue: he dared to build his factory in the capital of European car industry, Germany. Many workers in VW, Mercedes, BMW lost their jobs because of Tesla, and Musk is perceived as a threat to German car industry. For Germans Musk is enemy, he occupies part of homeland. If so, there is no reason to protect his factory. Issues like these will repeat, and the more efficient Gigafactory would be, the more incidents like these will occur. Musk should expect, that guardians protecting his factory will cooperate with attackers, they call it "patriotism". One party, one Fuhrer, One owner - Germany. If Musk decided to sell Giga Berlin, it would be fiesta on the streets. In my opinion it will happen in a few years, because to Musk it would be counterproductive to stay in Germany.
