Why doesn't everyone coat their Cybertrucks with that ceramic coating to protect the finish?

I think the point is it was marketed as something that wouldn't have issues like that, so it's a surprise. Ceramic coating is expensive, so it's an added expense. I think it's worth it for any new car above a certain price point, but Elon didn't prepare people for this issue.

How do you know Tesla is slowing down? You have to have the roads, electricity, water and sewage plans before you start.
@anna-fk8ql yes, but not a Tesla or EV owner. Just a guy fascinated with 1) Musk and 2) Tesla and SpaceX. Just unbelievable, crazy accomplishments year after year.
Both companies, top to bottom, are incredible in so many facets. And as someone involved in construction and mega projects, I even see it in their construction side- pulling off complicated large projects so much faster than even some of the best construction companies world wide.
@anna-fk8ql I will buy a Tesla when they have a large SUV and when there is more charging infrastructure in the places I travel. Thosevare my unmet use cases at the moment. Would not buy another EV brand at this time.

You can Polish the stainless steel so that it's smooth and it won't hold on to all that crude.A simple stainless steel cleaner oil base is all you need
WD40 will take care of the rust spots.
WD40 can prevent rust on steel by preventing oxidation. In this case, the stainless steel is not oxidizing. It's the free iron particles on the surface. You need to remove the particles with an abrasive compound or pad. Also, I don't think anyone want's their new CyberTruck coated with smelly degreaser.

Tesla Space dude is wrong. It's from brake pads/discs from ICE cars which swirl around in the air while driving on the road

@@redg2197 don't need evidence. In mexico powerful cartels have far reaching tentacles that they are quietly in bed with the military, police and the governor of many states. These Cartels also extract money from many mexican businesses in exchange for protection and peaceful operation in those territories.

I'm curios if any of the plethora of ceramic coatings out there would prevent the rust spot issue.
Everything I read online or on UA-cam says do not use ceramic coatings on this car

4680 is glued together not possible to repair only buy LFP batteries with Modules last longer and can be repaired
8:25 I would accept and like a bad ass rust look as long as it it doesn't penetrate and spread, which is I believe the case. Buffing, polishing and pampering a tank seems weird

I have a relative that owns a DeLorean, there's rust down both sides. It's not a significant amount but noticeable and makes the car look junky.

Model Y does not use 4680's. A few short range Model Y's were made early on with 4680 but 2170 is what they use
Model Y uses 2170, catl prismatic lfp or byd blade lfp cells for pack's now. 4680 tx built awd model's stopped production in late 2023.
What's the downside of using 4680 cells that are not tabless?
Slower charging and power release. Like drinking through a tiny plastic coffee stirrer.
Near-shoring isn't about investing in nearby countries vs investing locally/domestically. It's about RETURNING supply chains close to home, and AWAY from locations halfway around the world that are vulnerable to supply chain disruptions or geopolitical issues, or are themselves authoritarian adversary nations like China. On the other hand, moving local/domestic supply chains out to nearby countries would just be regular off-shoring, not near-shoring.
Economy will only get worse but a low cost car should still go forward asap

Stainless steel Does rust. How much depends on how much Chromium is in it so you need to know the exact blend. The more Chromium the Less it Stains (rusts) but the more Chromium the more brittle the metal. Brittle now being a great idea for cars, I wonder what level of Chromium they picked. What ever it is, it is going to slowly rust. I'd bet what they mean is it's not going to be a significant amount during the 7 year life span.
The rust depends on how much nickel is in it period

99% of cars produce iron-dust every time they use their brakes. That iron dust is more easily shed by the top-finish of the paintwork; no top-finish, no iron-dust shedding. To avoid 'rust-spots', stay out of traffic, or clean car more often. If you must drive a big, butch, ugly vehicle, why worry about a little dust?

I still think Tesla needs to make a normal and different pickup truck, even though I am one of many people who likes the Cybretruck. There is still a huge opportunity to be the EV company who makes the most popular and mass produced pickup, and Tesla missed this with the Cybertruck, regardless of how many orders it has. If Tesla made a F150 style truck to begin with all the F150 owners would switch to a Tesla truck more happily. Tesla should strongly consider making a mass produced normal pickup truck, cause that huge demand for it is still there, and that is a huge hole in the F150, Ram, Tundra market, Tesla made a huge mistake if they don't compete directly with this market, Which Cybertruck isn't doing.
Nah leave the ct as is, bring it down to 50k or less for rwd+rebate, 60k for awd+rebate and 79k for a tri cyberbeast with extended pack+rebate.
And then make a normal minivan on that same chassis and eliminate the model X it's done, to bring out a ev9/r1s/gravity 3 row tesla SUV! 👍🏻😎
