I joined a server hosting the map, someone showed me the tricks to climb various spots, he eventually disconnected. Someone new joined, and I became the one who had the pass on the knowledge.
I want someone to do this but as a whole game. Like a counter-strike clone that "puts you into a match" only it's offline and with bots, but when you win the round, the bots don't respawn, and you just have to... leave? Like go home? Exit the map, get to the highway, walk through some towns. Maybe there's a few more random bots that spawn in here and there for a few little firefights.
Genuinely in love with this idea. I think I'd like it best if it was in complete, unnerving silence after the round, and it effectively just turns into a walking simulator. You're kept in painful suspense, you keep thinking you've downloaded some indie horror game, but the scare just never comes. You can read all about this little town's history, mundane and unremarkable as it is, visit the museum, look at some statues, read the local news. Place has been evacuated after all, due to the bomb threat. You slowly discover that there really isn't anything out there of terrible importance, that outside of the context of that fun little counter-terror romp, outside the designer's intention of the level as meant to be played in a game with established rules and systems, it's just life, and it wasn't made to be exciting or interesting, it just is. Show's over, go home. I'm aware this hypothetical game would be boring as hell and require way too much time and effort, but let me dream.
That would be such a fun singleplayer game. Kinda like a mix of csgo and infra. You exit the plant to go home, but in the short time you were defusing a bomb a worldwide attack was happening, and the world is in chaos. You have to run from place to place, scouring for ammo and sneaking by to stay alive, and you eventually reach base again. You then get shipped to a different map, and fight off the terrorists there. Now the war is intensifying. You slowly make your way to the T base, infiltrate and take out as many as possible, and call in reinforcements. SAS, GIGN, all the teams join in for a final match
Or get back to the Police car or swat van idk what it called And take photos of bodys Report to the base And there Will be %50 chance that you can get a New job Or You can get to ur home End
Yea, personally I wanted to try to get into doing something like that, but with no background experience and CS2 almost here (maybe), I'm just going to wait and see if it's easier on CS2 rather than CSGO
Holy crap, Free Nuke is my favorite workshop map in CS:GO. I love just auto bhopping and bump mine launching around it. I had no idea you made it!! I made a custom hide and seek gamemode that my friends and I played on it.
didnt realize you're the one who made Free Nuke, my friends and I had a lot of fun on this map with bhops enabled and doing crazy long snipes. Thank you for the fun
This map looks fucking awesome, its hitting all of my emotions of exploration and wanting to escape out of the usually socially acceptable areas. I love how there's little barriers or obstacles in the way of getting somewhere, but with some good jumps or interacting with things in a intuitive way you can go anywhere. I even like how the areas feel more like realistic places that have function and aren't just a race track for players to fight in. I want a entire game like this!
i remember seeing this on a 3kliks video a while ago but didn't realize just *how* open it actually is, kinda just assumed it was literally just the bare minimum of removing all the barriers and making some things solid/openable really neat how navigable it actually is
One reason you got away with that spot that can see the entire map is that it *can't* see the entire map. It's in the middle of the map, so you can't be looking at more than half of the rest of the map from it in any given direction, and it can't see any of the indoor spaces, so looking straight down cuts off pretty much everything through frustum culling.
big fan of maps like this, easily the most polished of this style of map ive ever seen. i think my gold standard is the open hightower map for tf2, this blows it out of the water
oh wtf, ive been messing around on freenuke for months with friends, and also been subbed to you for months, and never knew you made this map! It is INSANELY fun to try and approach this with a semi-competitive mindset, devising strats like closing off heaven, or planting the bomb on B and breaking the glass, going under it with a sawn off, or boosting somebody onto the roof from T side so they could watch A from above. Crazy shit.
i hosted this map during a private lan match. i didn't tell anybody about it being a custom map and they've played it like normal nuke. the only thing everyone noticed was the minimap being weird. it took them quite a few rounds to figure it out. it was livestreamed too and i saved the vod: ua-cam.com/video/ElucfIRBWgs/v-deo.html it's all in german unfortunately but their reactions are just priceless. i put some timestamps in the description.
That same NAN issue was happening to a tf2 workshop map that recently was accepted into game. What made it even more weird is depending on whether it was compiled on intel or amd determined if one of the bounces returned NAN or not. The mapper had no issue but someone at valve had the CPU with the issue and when they compiled it the map whole map turned black!
never thought my good laugh for the day and my latest appreciation for a video that isnt intrusive in presentation would come from a game neither i nor the map creator apparently play but here i am
the NaN propagation bug happened during dev to a recently added TF2 map (Hardwood), too. incredibly funny to see the same issue in a totally different game again, although in Hardwood's case, the issue was some dumb floating point bullshit that only caused the issue in AMD and not Intel
Congratz on making this map at all tho. Whenver i want to do something "bigger than corridor style hl1 maps" i have Very bad luck of Hammer just yelling at me at some point due to too many area portals created, ugh me and my too ambitious plans.
I met a lot of good friends on 3kliksphilip's server which hosted this map. A lot of people who loved Nuke obviously also loved this map. I love all the easter eggs & weird potential routes.
This might sound stupid, but I would love a mapping tutorial series from you. I know that many exist out there but they are either old or not very well done. I've been following you for a while, and I think your knowledge on the source engine definitely qualifies you to make tutorials on mapping.
they should totally give the fire extinguishers functions to make retakes more creative and even holding sites would have more intricacies. Doesnt seem like it would be too unbalanced either since either side can shoot it out pre molly but can be game changing if someone forgets.
I joined a server hosting the map, someone showed me the tricks to climb various spots, he eventually disconnected. Someone new joined, and I became the one who had the pass on the knowledge.
Do you have the ip to the server?
the cycle continues
The Pharaoh Curse
yea id like to know too@@LegoDude182
one must imagine sisyphus happy

Half of the people playing would probably hate it but that sounds amazing
@@ParDeRuz 100%, but that kind of weird indie experience is my kinda jam haha

I would love it if this became a thing in the CSGO mapmaking community. Free Train, Free Office, etc
There's some "Parkour" prefixed maps. They remove the clipping, but they do not imaginatively recreate far away and inaccessible parts of the map
it was popularised long time ago, there are many maps like these and some are pretty decent.
Open Inferno exists, but it also adds more than just opens it up
Yea, personally I wanted to try to get into doing something like that, but with no background experience and CS2 almost here (maybe), I'm just going to wait and see if it's easier on CS2 rather than CSGO
Its been a "Thing" since 1.6 you zoomer
This is essentially a goldeneye map.
Not all the rooms are useful, but they're there and accessible.
"Good bye you little shit."
Spoken like a true Hammer user.
Valve should make a version of Nuke like this as an April fools joke and put it in the casual map pool for that day.
maybe with 50 players on server
Holy crap, Free Nuke is my favorite workshop map in CS:GO. I love just auto bhopping and bump mine launching around it. I had no idea you made it!! I made a custom hide and seek gamemode that my friends and I played on it.
This is my wet dream of opening every door in The Stanley Parable

I remember finding your channel through 3kliksphilip's initial rundown of the map, good times.

oh hi ben !!
Dont like playing csgo too, but i still enjoy the gamedesign and the thought that goes in creating a map for it
big fan of maps like this, easily the most polished of this style of map ive ever seen. i think my gold standard is the open hightower map for tf2, this blows it out of the water
I love free nuke so much. I did not even know you were a youtuber.
Thank you so much for making it!
Same, and I've been subscribed to the guy for two years now!
1: Massively extends map
2: Refuses to elaborate further
3: Leaves
4: Comes back
This gives off huge 1.6 vibes, the open design with much to explore… good times
This is the coolest thing ever. As a kid I would dream about a new GTA game where I would be able to open ALL doors and go inside ANY interior.
Honestly, with some changes this could unironically be a banger danger zone map!
I love this. My biggest problem with most counter strike maps is lack of freedom. This looks like a lot of fun to mess around in.
oh wtf, ive been messing around on freenuke for months with friends, and also been subbed to you for months, and never knew you made this map! Very interesting to see this! Makes the game feel like an immersive sim. Bless you for the subtitles BTW
I appreciate the effort you put into adding subtitles
Me and mates had a blast playing this map keep up the good work
I love this so much! Take away barriers, freedom is our goal!
I get a very unsettling, almost creepy feeling with this map of yours. The blocked off areas almost feel haunted and surreal

If you made more "free" maps they would honestly be really fun in death match, and a hide and seek game mode!
never thought my good laugh for the day and my latest appreciation for a video that isnt intrusive in presentation would come from a game neither i nor the map creator apparently play but here i am
This was great, the map and the video, well done.
Could be a good Danger Zone map.
That crate room reminds me of DOOM 1 & 2
This is actually a really cool concept.
I forgot that you did it... this map was one of my favorites! I absolutely love the "breaking of boundaries" :D
it's like looking at a transition timeline
fascinating work !!!!
Me and my friends played on this way back! It was a lot of fun! Thanks for giving us an evening or two of good times!
the fence nan propagation was described in a way that made it sound like a strange hammer-based horror story, but
Oh wow you made this? Me and my buddies have a blast with this map, so cool
this map really makes you feel like homer simpson
the NaN propagation bug happened during dev to a recently added TF2 map (Hardwood), too. incredibly funny to see the same issue in a totally different game again, although in Hardwood's case, the issue was some dumb floating point bullshit that only caused the issue in AMD and not Intel
cant belive you made nuke free of charge for all of us
this is amazing!! great work
I did a double take when you said CS:GO broke LoD models. Like, how? That's such a fundamental and extremely useful part of the engine omg X3
that fire extinguisher idea is super cool. would love to see some more mpapers play around with that
Playing on Free Nuke was like a feaver dream, really enjoyed my time. Thank you!
this is such an awesome idea for a map
This is so cool! Here's hoping the same can be done with CS2!
5:18 we don't need heaven more
Congratz on making this map at all tho. Whenver i want to do something "bigger than corridor style hl1 maps" i have Very bad luck of Hammer just yelling at me at some point due to too many area portals created, ugh me and my too ambitious plans.
Wait, you made this? This might as well, be my favorite workshop map, it's so much fun!
I always wanted this treatment for Assault. This is so fulfilling for my imagination though, amazing work :)
Damn, I love your map. I play it with my friends alot.
Damn, how much cool stuff have you made? You're like a mini-Niel Cicirega, I keep seeing you everywhere on the internet!
I met a lot of good friends on 3kliksphilip's server which hosted this map. A lot of people who loved Nuke obviously also loved this map. I love all the easter eggs & weird potential routes.
i love this map i remeber playing it a while back
This might sound stupid, but I would love a mapping tutorial series from you. I know that many exist out there but they are either old or not very well done. I've been following you for a while, and I think your knowledge on the source engine definitely qualifies you to make tutorials on mapping.
I liked your map :)
Nah, hearing from the creator of one of my favorite workshop maps is insane. You should do this with other maps
this video reminded me that I have hundreds of unused clips i hit on this map
this is incredible
Great map! I'm going to try it!
this fit perfectly on a cs story campaning
It feels like if Nuke was a Garry's Mod RP map.
genius map i recall playing it on kliks servers
I used to play on this often, I can't believe it was you who made it!
liminal nuke
this video gave me hl2beta airex maps vibe
Came for hl2 facts and got a sick version of my favorite map in Csgo
they should totally give the fire extinguishers functions to make retakes more creative and even holding sites would have more intricacies. Doesnt seem like it would be too unbalanced either since either side can shoot it out pre molly but can be game changing if someone forgets.
this would go crazy as a horror game
oh my god i didnt know it was you that made the map! so cool!!!
No clue you made this played this a year ago or so, amazing map
That's awesome!
i'm getting the 1.6 FFA servers vibe, huge maps a lot of camping spots kinda like you know rats1337 or dust2002, love it
Honestly could work alright as a Danger Zone map, very nice guide
this would be really fun in GMOD
this is way underrated
Will you publish improved FGD for HL2?
franzj would lose their mind to this
that fire extinguisher thing should be a feature in CS2 thats cool as fuck and would make fire fights crazy
I loved to play the map
This would make a really great zombie map
this feels like some rp map in gmod
Would be an amazing death match map
8:05 Great moment
10/10 map
Wait you made Free Nuke???? Baller!
I’m sure if you imported this map into CS:Go 2 it would be pretty insane
the sudden change from emotionless voice to "goodbye you little sh*t" was unexpected
I think this map could be interesting for an infection type gamemode
Best battle royale or Hide and Seek map in Counter strike!
I wanna see people hosting servers with this map, I'd love to play with that map with people
sorry you will only find community servers running a diverse rotation of mirage, dust 2 and inferno and you will like it
Imagine Battle royale with collapsing buildings instead of a zone getting smaller
Any chance you could release the VMF at some point so people can make mods of the map?
I hope you’ll update this to Counter Strike 2
YOU MADE FREE NUKE?!
Free my boy nuke!!!
Imagine this, in Zombie Mode
