like spray foam insulation? Maybe but be careful not to use too much. stop once you have a good backing maybe 1/4" below the surface. Let dry then switch to a method like this one to get some sort of finished surface that, once painted, doesn't stand out too much.

silicone is difficult to work with and not water soluble for easy cleanup.
