First of all, a big thank you for introducing me with convincing guitar tones on the normal channel of my ac30. I used the normal channel since 1992 only bridged with the TB channel and only recently the normal channel as my main channel. The Barbershop video was very convincing and made me build my own. It is my fav, but not the only way to make a great sound. It is a lovely journey for myself. And following your journey is both educational inspiring as entertaining.
Thanks for the kind words Nico! I decided to start this channel to help others on their journey to find their own tone. In the process, I've discovered a lot about guitar pedals, speakers and amps in general. I don't always get the views I would like to have on videos, but I always get folks who state the the videos are helpful. I love doing this. It's so much fun.
just the video i was looking for. both sound great but i love the way the the unpleasant surprise breaks up in the more extreme settings. going with that one! thanks!
The Unpleasant Surprise is also my favorite of the two, but only by a slight margin. The about 900 is probably my favorite all-around fuzz. The Unpleasant Surprise is my favorite 'wacky' fuzz.
awesome demo!! I have the 900 already and think it's a stellar pedal. But I have just discovered in your video that it works amazingly well also when being boosted. Both pedals did imo.
Both are sweet pedals, nice comparison. The Unpleasant Surprise has many similar tones to the Fuzz Factory, but seems even more versatile, which is saying a lot. The 900 is well rounded in a more practical way, as you pointed out, great stuff. I'm a big fan of Fairfield Circuitry, their pedals always have that something extra.
I think you've summed it up better than I could. The About 900 is more of a fuzz that goes from pleasant to rip roaring, and The Unpleasant Surprise is a fuzz for those who love wacky tones (I am one of those people).
That was great thanks! This side by side shows how different the Unpleasant Surprise is. Now it's on my list for sure.I'm alos really curious how it compares to the Fuzz Factory. US seems like it is easier to dial in and has a more pleasing "squelchy" sound. Like velcro but more dynamic.
It is very different compared to a Fuzz Factory. The US is not as chaotic and unruly. The Fear Factory (which I have owned 5 of) is a tricky pedal to dial in. It sounds great when you hit the sweet spot, but can be a nightmare to dial in properly.
All the hyperactive random knob twiddling really makes this a frustrating watch. It would be a much better (and probably a lot more efficient hence shorter) video if there were some method and explanation to the knob turning

I have both these pedals but the About 900 is by far my favourite due to its versatility and sheer awesomeness. Great demo btw thank you.
My pleasure. I love both but tend to gravitate towards the Unpleasant Surprise, for some reason.

Such killer pedals! Thanks for the video, Jonathan!
My pleasure dude. These two are killer. You can't go wrong with either of them.
Fantastic video and great playing mate - thank you 🙏
Glad you enjoyed it! Which one would you pick?
Genuinely got both 🤣 I’m a Fairfield Fanboy through and through - thank you again Brother 🙏
@@jackduxbury1632 my pleasure. They are both fantastic and I do tend to grab one or the other depending on what I am going for.

My 900 arrives next week...

Tele reminds me of Wilko Johnson's guitar...
17:16 I love that velcro ripping sound, it's pure ear candy to me. LOL
The Unpleasant surprised was named wrong. It's actually a very pleasant surprise.
Agh wanna try them myself.
I bet you would dig them.

Fair enough!
My two favorite right now. Also using the t4.
Fairfield Circuitry make some of the best and most interesting pedals out there. I love their stuff.
Nicccccccccce!
They are fun pedals.
