- Residents in the village of Rye Brook are on high alert after multiple bobcat sightings.
The Rye Brook Police Department posted a message on Facebook on Sunday, warning people about the big cats roaming the area.
They say bobcats have been spotted near Rockinghorse Trail and Country Ridge Drive.
Officers are now patrolling those areas, but residents are warned to close their garage doors. They say the animals may go into open garages to get warm.

Respect the BobCat and all Wildlife, They were here before us !!!. Don't leave small pets out alone !!!.
They were here before YOUR ancestors
NOT MINE. Speak for yourself
@@johneta7665 ok and ?
Bobcats were in the area before people. Any people. Even John’s 1/128th NA grandma.
I was here before bobcats
😂😂😂
When land is taken away from wild animals, where else are they going to go????? SMH common sense.
exactly now those little dogs will be in some trouble.
there's also people who like them as exotic pets
Love how people say this as they sit in a house on land taken from wildlife🤣
Or when it’s taken from owners, you get current state of America.
@@thekeith-donovanexperience every where was occupied by someone before someone else took it. The history if man.
They prefer to be called Robert Cats. No wonder they're pissed.
Can't blame them.
😭🤣
Titles are important, just look at how upset the wokesters get if they are miss gendered.
👏😁😂
Wow such a beautiful animal gods creation pls don't abuse the big 🐱
I live in an state that has many different wild cats. Bobcats, mountain lions, etc. My advice is just leave them alone, and keep an eye on your pets if you keep them outside for long periods of time.
Making sure the fence is always closed ? Lol that bob cat will hop over that fence
Yeah but her dog won't get out and chase it.
@@josephshields2922 yeah but her dog can't run away because it's trapped in a fence and will get killed duh
Facts
For crying out loud, you'd think they spotted a grizzly bear.
Because it's rare in new York we have bears eagles and other animals so bobcats are very interesting
@@shawnhall9792 Maybe they're rare to see but no reason to get your panties in a bunch.
@@dennishoshowsky8692 I don't mind it I find it beautiful when people get all excited about seeing certain animals that you never really see . Like we also get orca's in our state so I'd probably go nuts lol
@@shawnhall9792 We've had Bobcats here for years. Just people who've moved up have never seen them. Oh wait.. Here's a riddle for those smart ones out there.. Why do they call Bear Mountain Bear Mountain?
@@L8dyAriel true my mom is from upstate NY I was born in NYC so I always see amazing wildlife especially deer 🦌 and seals🦭
Did Karen just call 2 bobcats tigers? 🤦
I laughed and laughed when she said that...
YES SHE DID 💯 AND THIS WAS RECORDED. 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤣Look a Tiger 🐅 👀 🤦♂️🤣.
@@truckupgf It was a Tiger 🐅 🐅😲🤣🤣🤣🤦♂️
Ah geez🤦🏾♀️, lmao... to be fair, when I first saw the thumbnail, the first thing that came to mind was tiger for me too🤣🤣🤣it really did look like one at first glance, now I have to laugh about it😂😂
An NYC Park Ranger recently told me that Bronx River Alliance has critter-cam pix of bobcats in Bronx Park. Quite possibly the same that were seen in Rye Brook.
Yes I live & work in Yonkers and work at a school on a mountain . Behind my school there is Coyote's den . One day I was outside on my break and a man walking his dog told me to be careful because he saw a hurt & limping coyote . Said the coyote was probably attacked by one of the bobcats in the area ! I was surprised to hear that !!!
Its ok. Bobcats are on constant alert for humans ever since they moved into there territory!
Media : Wildlife officals say Bobcats are no threat to anyone but lets do a broadcast and try to scare the shite out of everyone anyway.
🤣🤣👍they actually did to some people especially those that lived in that neighborhood. Especially that lady saying she saw a Tiger 🐅 🐅 🐯 😲🤣🤣🤣🤦♂️.
@@JulioCNY that's the first thing I thought it was😭😭😭😭😭
@@westcoastbred7745 🙈🤣👍no worries. But it was very funny tbh about I saw two Tigers 🐅 😅 🐅 looking for Frosted Flakes.
Poor bobcats have no other place to go encroaching on their home!
Leave them alone! They are avoiding people - don't go looking for them.
I know
I totally agree
Who said they're lookin for the. Dummy
I like the way that Depeola character’s paranoic psychosis was cut down by the reporter.
His hysterics is a good reason this country has lost track.
Exxxxactly
I’ve seen bobcats at zoos and they’re definitely small. They’re like a slightly taller and buffer cat. Nowhere near a jaguar, cheetah, or leopard. I wouldn’t be too worried about people getting attacked
I'm sure this is related to the teraing up of large wooded areas to build more $700,000 to $1mil homes...
Same has been happening in my area far East of NY.
Never seen a bobcat before, even though we've known they're around... Same for fisher cats and black bear. Coyotes are abundant here.
Now with constantly ripping up wooded areas for multi million dollar developments all around, they're suddenly becoming more common to see wandering about .
As these animals are running out of safe environments to live, they begin to search for other prospects.
When their food supplies scatter and become scarce, they become desperate.
We just keep tearing everything up to build more over priced homes with no potential buyers, and wondering why wild animals are coming into our neighborhoods🤔
The human race is the worst plague to ever befall the Earth. Ignorant and stupid.
Hope no idiots try to take a selfie with them
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤳
Shhhhh Don't give them any ideas.
I would think humans with guns are more dangerous in Murica than some Bobcats
Agreed 👍💯
If you're seeing them during the day that could be an issue. We see them here on the bayou off and on as well as cougars. Only seen one bobcat attack. It was during the day and it was rabid.
It’s just a bobcat, no bigger than a family dog. Non aggressive towards humans. I see them all the time near my house. 🤦♂️
The bob cats are more a threat to pets like smaller dogs and cats than they are to humans
FOH 😂😂😂 YOU GO CATCH EM THEN
They pokemon
@@westcoastbred7745 no need for that just don't leave food around and they will steer clear.
I disagree. It’s coyotes that are the threat to small - medium sized dogs and any size of domestic cat.
I came across a bobcat in the woods in Maryland. It was in the fall and the cat was mostly white with some brown. I believe the cats are growing in numbers because of the overpopulation of Deer.
Please don't kill the bobcat! They are trying to survive. Bring mase if you feel threaten.
Mace*
Please don’t kill them .
Eyewitness News trying to stir up panic?Upstate NY has them, not unusual, people are familiar with them, saw one in rural area, walked in front of our car,in the daytime, beautiful animals, went his/her way quickly. Seen some bigger rats in NYC compare to Bobcats.
WTH !!! It's there habitat to begin with... deal with it people.
Like you would be saying that if it tried eating you for a delightful dinner moron
I see an occasional Bobcat all the time behind my home in S.Florida. I have never known one to attack anyone. I’ve seen them walking by the front also at all times of the day. Nothing to worry about unless your a rat, squirrel, or other small animal.
You in Florida Sun its NYC we not country like yall
OMG!
Get Real.
Bobcats aren't going to hurt anyone.
Grow Up People! 🐆
Leave the darn animals alone.
Great they are making a comeback .
Almost hit a bobcat yrs ago and I loved them ever since lol. Just watch your animals and small kiddos, you’ll be fine!
BEAUTIFUL!
Such a beautiful animal!. Save the wildlife first!!
The bobcats were there LONG before you people came there. I’m from Orange Co. they’re common here and NOBODY is harmed!!
Correct! We encroach on their space and we have the nerve to get upset when they still hang around. 😒
Yea they look alot bigger in the pictures ,but Tigers Really?
🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤣🤣👍💯she is crazy asf and blind as well and very very exaggerated. Look it was a Tiger 🐅 🐅 🐯 🐅 😲🤣🤣🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️. Maybe it wanted its Frosted Flakes.
Karen is exaggerating.
.. unbelievable right lol
@@ThePaulmirto It look like a Tiger 🐅 🐅 😲🙄🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤣🤣🤣.
Just keep your pets inside and don't leave your kids unattended you'll be alright.
The craziest thing is how people will keep them as babies then let them go into residential neighborhoods like they’re not called WILD cats for a reason
I have seen a lot of bobcats and that one looks bigger than 25 pounds
Beautiful animals.
The dog would be easy prey. Keep in mind they are more afraid of you.
Let's keep the Bobcats around. The Humans are the ones you need to watch. For
I live in southern Ohio and bobcats are normal. A few good reminders when your walking in wooded areas think to look up into the trees where your walking. They really do dislike being around people and most likely run from you once your seen by them, thats why I take an air horn and a stun gun in dont want to kill anything just stand a chance to get away. Coyotes and feral dogs are more of a danger than bobcats. Keep a eye out in areas that contain creeks, or source of water and ravines, hillsides where they can find a den to sleep in.
Whoa! That's a Big Boy!!😱
They’re back!
If u have a dog, ur asking for it lol
Bobcats are about 18 to 35 lbs and can get up to 40 lbs... btw, 'wildlife expert'
Westchester, you armed up? The Bobcat isn't vaxed, either and doesn't much care for social distancing especially when hungry.
Scary, I won't even go to my backyard.
Bobcats and Mountain Lions are indigenous to New York.
It is a bobcat, not a mountain lion. We have bobcats in my neighborhood. What precautions do I take? Absolutely none. Now if there were some mountain lions roaming around things would be a bit different.
What do you expect? We are on their land afterall. Where do you want them to go when we have destroyed their habitat??
The tanclan is more scary.
BOBCAT WENT OUT LOOKING FOR SOME STALE RYE!
BREAD GOES BAD AFTER LIKE 3 DAYS
They need to get them off the streets.
The people? You are correct
How about ya give the bobcat their hoods back on gang😂
Leave it alone
I would like to see one . Leave these animals alone . Don’t KILL THEM .
ANIMALS PETS PETS KEEP YOUT PETS INSIDE like it's not just about children like yall dont care about animals either
Saw a dead Bobcat 10 feet off a road in high brush , small size that must have been hit by a car 🚗 last summer while walking . Town of Mount Pleasant , 25 mins North West of Rye Brook .
One thing for sure,, keep a close eye on your fur baby pets,,,all it takes is a spit second
I feel better taking the dog for a walk with my .357 magnum pots and pans.
This is their world we're just living in it
i’ll come get them 🥰🥰🥰🥰
I must admit they look pretty intimidating 🙀
THATS FRKN humungous
The bobcats are more safer than some of these humans that's the actual irony of this entire story
OMG. I thought she was kidding? That did look like a goddamn tiger 🐅
A tiger? Seriously? Has this lady ever seen a tiger?
Bobcats have ALWAYS been in NY, and they are barely larger than a big domestic cat. Imagine living around the Catskills and freaking out over a bobcat. Don't be an idiot and leave your toy dog outside and you'll be fine
They came from the Catskills mountains.
Big deal see em regularly leave em alone and pay attention to your pets
Thought she saw "a Tiger"......bah hahaha!
Be serious lady please! 😆
I saw one on the North County trailway 8 years ago north of Coke plant and south of Con Ed. Def a bobcat. Was much larger than a domestic cat by far.
Sees 10 pound cat. I thought it was a lion! Lol
I seen a very large cat in Putnam County 2019,
It definitely wasn't a bob cat
It was much taller with a long tail
I believe I have seen a legendary mountain
And we definitely have bobcats in Westchester I watched one run across the frozen lake to get the geese!
Prayer
Dont hurt them they just souped up Wildcats. And might discourage. Criminals visiting your area.
Usually seen around Orange County California with the mountain lion/cougar/pumas but they are very solitary, also if people find an exotic stray kitten on the road and you hear a strange sound that doesn’t sound like a normal house cat it’s probably a bobcat and you raise it humanely until it’s old enough to live on its own after saving it from being killed instantly from several different things: automobiles, stray dogs that have a tendency to kill cats, wild human beings aka criminals that would just abuse the living daylight out of it, etc, so make sure that not only the wildlife experts are notified but the ASPCA as well if you live in the Tristate area, and make sure it eats well like a normal cat or dog, and always provide great care for it until it’s time for release. Bobcats do look like normal house cats only a little bit bigger and has a personality to be very dangerous if cornered and also they horseplay a lot, their growls or screams sound like humans because they have a very good talent to impersonate human screams especially 10 year old boy screams, so if you hear a scream from a cat that sounds like a 10 year old boy then it’s a bobcat
Hahahaha cool they are looking for cats to eat...😁👍
It's Robert Cat to you, sir.
Oh no not a bobcat. LMFAO
Tigers? geez
Go figure wild animals in this area? Who would’ve ever known?
This is newsworthy? SMH…
Noticing you are referring to people, but do you solely mean adults, they look like they could hurt children?
And this ladies and gentlemen is news.
Everyone wants to go for walks with their dogs on the woods and exercise in this areas in which the wildlife belongs , jeezzz
Thanks.... Won't be moving to Rye Brook that's for sure. 🤨
Most people can't afford the 13 Million to move to Rye Brook. So your sentence is valid ;)
How come these cats NEVER MAKE IT, into the hood?! It’s always north of the Cross County Parkway. Are they afraid of ending up as a dish, in Mount Vernon or Yonkers?!?!
😅😅
Thats horrible. :( The cat wanted some of the goat and ox tail with two patties and Ting from the Jamaican Restaurant.
@@L8dyAriel
That’s why they stay at bay, from island people…
They know they get 1” near a Dominican or Jamaican establishment, might accidentally end up in a dish.
I love having them around
Do not call the zoo
The Ottawa truckers released bobcats?
Release a group of bobcats in Central Park to keep the rat population in check.
What state is in
Hail bobcats...more and bigger 🙌 🥳
The bobcat is not a fearful beast...The people of Westchester County are the low to no life pessimistic beasts....Leave the bobcat alone and protect the dogs and cats.
Lmao a pitbull is bigger than Bobcats.
Never believe people, get a big can of pepper spray 🤔
OMG its a bobcat a dang news story about that, the news anchor says we have a new wild animal (Bobcats)! Leave them alone and they should leave you alone!!!
I guess the news media always loves to rehash old news as new information vs. a warning which was issued to just be aware. This reporter .. yep, but I do have to say that this particular Bobcat was pretty well fed, beautiful coat and markings. Standard Kitty for its breed weight.
If you can train them. They would make a great neighborhood Watch.
*1:19** I'LL GET YOU JOSH! AND YOUR LITTLE DOG TOO!!!* (The wicked Bobcat🐱 Witch🧙♀️ Of The West)😅😅🤣😂😉
What if they don’t disappear after flashing lights & noise?!!!!😂😂
Toss em a poodle...🐩 And run!😂🏃
I need to see 1 asap! 🥰
