Avacyn is my favorite character in all of Magic. She has an amazing story potential, a very cool design, and features heavily in my favorite set in Magic history. Why she had to be fridged I will never know, but it has basically killed interest in Magic for me. I just wanted you folks at the Magic team to know that some of us really, really liked her and would like to see her return somehow (I know it won't happen, but a girl can dream), maybe even gain a spark if Nahiri or Sorin ends up dying or something like that. There's so much potential for drama and conflict and interaction between Sorin and Avacyn, and the legacies of both characters, that I can't believe the team went with the predictable and boring "We must save you from yourselves" robot angle. It completely destroys the previous win in an unnecessary way; you could have had Nahiri roll back the Cursemute with some accursed artifact, or Emrakul do it (since it looks pretty obvious Big Em's coming), or any number of things. Have the Church go all inquisitorial super-zealots, upsetting the balance and putting the Angels in a dramatic spot: sworn to protect humans but corruption within the Church threatens humanity as much as monsters. Anything but unceremoniously unmaking Avacyn without so much as a second thought. :(
+Claire Redfield The thing is, most of the audience loved Innistrad for being a plane filled with horrors and people scared for their lives (and loved Innistrad & Dark Ascension far more than Avacyn Restored). Avacyn's presence upsets that. Sure, they could've just gone away with her temporarily... but that has been done the first time around - with the Helvault. Long story short: Innistrad is a place for horror, not angels. If everytime Wizards would like to go back, they would have to think "but what do we do with Avacyn?". So, for the sake of the plane, it's better to sacrifice her and have someone else, someone less powerful but still admirable (like Sigarda) take her place. So it's all hardly "without a second thought". This all coming from someone who is also broken-hearted about our archangel's demise. Also, Avacyn couldn't become a planeswalker - as a construct of mana, she couldn't posses a spark.
+xBenjiSx There are plenty of ways to make it so someone even as powerful as Avacyn can't simply snap her fingers to end a problem. Monsters and dark magic are an integral part of Innistrad, so it's not like purging them all would work or even be necessary. You can tell horror stories in a plane even where the good guys got a win, and a powerful goddess figure exists. Karn was also a construct but gained a spark. That's why I said if Nahiri or Sorin gave her their sparks, it could conceivably work. Angel bodies might be constructs of white mana, but they are also holy spirits, so it hardly seems inconceivable for an angel created by a planeswalker to gain a spark if given one. Heck, give Avacyn a spark and have her travel through the Multiverse as an interplanar angel of hope. There, problem solved when you want Avacyn out of the way for an Innistrad story, while keeping her as an option when needed. Instead, we get a permanent solution in the form of fridging a great character. Either way, I'm very highly disappointed about this and want the Magic team to know that at least some of us love the character. We'd like to see her not completely removed from the game.
+Claire Redfield I agree, it looks like the storytellers just saw her death as part of Sorin's story, and I hope that's not the case. If Avacyn has become sympathetic to Nahiri's cause, and Sorin fights with her as part of that conflict, then it could still give her an interesting role to play in the events that follow. But the key will be giving her proper agency, rather than assuming she's just a malfunctioning artifice that Sorin can dispose of with some minor personal regrets.
Claire Redfield If you think that Wizards don't know Avacyn is a beloved character, you're so clearly emotional about it that I'm not sure a rational conversation about it is in place right now. OF COURSE they know it. Would it hit anyone, if a random, not-known character be offed? They've made a mistake of not killing anyone significant (on the Zendikari side) in BfZ block and no one was cool with that. Karn is the only artificial planeswalker, and he is because of two powerstones and huge amount of mana coming through him. It's like, oldwalker level of shenanigans and some very specific circumstances. Sure, could be done again... but it'd be weird in the modern era of Magic lore. They have some rules now for this kinda stuff. All being said, I think you might be wanting a little too much from a story that simply serves a card game. Yeah, it would be fantastic, if they could give their stories more; but they are NOT in the business of telling stories. It's just a part of their primary goal: selling cards.

When Claire talks about fridging the character, it means treating (usually her) as a disposable way to cheaply motivate another character (after a Green Lantern episode in which a main character's girlfriend is killed off as a way to make the villain appear more threatening and evil: see tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/StuffedIntoTheFridge) The point is not that Avacyn is being ignored by Wizards, but rather that it seems like yet another potentially interesting female character in fiction is given a throwaway part just to serve as a plot device for a supposedly more important character. You can already see the cliche building here that Sorin is going to murder her out of a sense of duty, shed a tear and then angrily go after Nahiri and feel justified in doing so, swearing revenge etc. It's not a terrible idea in itself to have her die in the plot - people do die, especially in worlds like Innistrad. But if the entire idea of the plot is "Avacyn is driven craaaazyyyy as a result of Nahiri's actions, so Sorin kills her and swears revenge", then her death isn't even really her own, because the story is really about the Trials and Tribulations of Sorin Markov, and that feels like a waste of Avacyn as a strong character.

Yeah... Angels can't have sparks. It would be cool to have an angel planeswalker at some point but I wouldn't make it Avacyn. That just rings of fanservice of the bad kind, imo.

On Nixilis was a human planeswalker who was transformed into a demon and Karn was given a spark twice(which is a ridiculously hard thing to do, btw). So yes, it is possible that we could have an angel planeswalker at some point and I would welcome it but the existence of two exceptions(who aren't even true exceptions) doesn't mean we should just throw everything out the window.

If I am Sorin and need human as food, I would lock up the humans like cattles, breed them and then only kill them or drink thier blood during lunch or dinner. Avacyn is definitely not the way to go. She kills vampires. If I am a vampire, I don't want that.

She does also straight up kill things. Heck, he flat out tried to eradicate all the demons on the plane early after her creation and she only stopped because she found out that demons just come back to life as other demons on Innistrad. Plus, she also killed the fourth "Power Puff Girl" thousands of years ago for consorting with dark forces.
Sorin is pretty harsh. He's worried about the humans being able to survive so that the vampires can survive. If that means that a bunch of werewolves and a few foolhardy and gluttonous young vampires are going to die to his guardian, he's willing to pay that price if it means balance and survival.
You really need a separate channel for those story- and update-videos. I'd love to subscribe, but I don't want my subscriptions-inbox flooded with Match-Videos every other weekend...

Pretty fricken lack luster character spotlight. How about how she teamed up with Bruna, Sigarda, and Gisela. And killed their sister. And is an angel that was made by Sorin pre-mending, making her an exceptionally powerful being. A little more than just the basic run down would be appreciated.
And I'm letting them know that from an avid fan's perspective, this was a waste of time and I'd appreciate seeing more in depth looks at the characters and their standing in the larger scheme of things.
Taking it down a notch would be appreciated. I believe all this was meant to do was set up a need-to-know foundation of Avacyn for those who may not know anything about her. The thing about her killing the fourth angel sister was seriously just revealed recently in the ongoing storyline. This is meant to set up a good basis for newbies to understand that storyline so that need not be in this as that event is meant to be revealed in the story. Also, this obviously isn't for you or me. You already know much about the lore so why are you complaining about this video being a "waste of time" when it is obviously meant to bring lore neonates up to speed. Every piece of content made by Wizards isn't for you.

I enjoyed the information but not the jokey tone / writing of the narrator. If you want your audience to care about the story and take it seriously, try presenting it in a slightly more serious manner.

It's not a terrible idea in itself to have her die in the plot - people do die, especially in worlds like Innistrad.
