Just did this following your video - thanks for uploading. Really helpful video. Those vents are an absolute nightmare to get out! Lots of water in those compartments - hopefully that was what was causing the water in the back passenger footwell.
Glad you could follow along , yeah lots of water in these all generations of focus have this water issue surprised they never fixed it and its been ages since i did my mums focus here and the water hasn’t returned yet
History shows resealing the vents isn’t really worth it, as they vibrate loose again over time, as they’re just clipped in. Remove the drain plugs and the insulation Any water that gets in come straight out and lots of airflow to keep it dry
Thanks to vids like this taking my car into the body shop tomorrow will make the sourcing easier and can get those points sealed
I have the exact same model with the exact same problem! Thank you for your excellent advice and guidance 👍
❤thanks i have same car and same problem now i feel better when i saw your video very helpful

I have a wagon/station with water in the boot. Does a wagon has the same vents?
Had to do the exact same thing with my 14 plate focus. Seems to be a very common problem. How Ford have not recalled these vehicles is beyond me
Yeah our one is a 14 plate too pleased to say though it hasn’t really come back yet
How does the water get from the voids to the boot area?
I'm watching this video while I do mine. I have a little pond in my vent. Can I ask how does the water get in the boot?? Or in the footwell
I think its just were it sits and then overflows and trickles down through the car

Hey mate, will any silicon do?
Probably needs to be a decent one for automotive use but im sure any would work yeah
@@mclaren_media9145 thanks mate, you zoomed passed taking the bumper off, how many bolts holding it on? Cheers
@@mikstrixful ive got a full guide to taking the bumper off in my videos should be a link in the description of this video for it
@@mclaren_media9145 legend! So done with wet footwells!
Bathroom type sealant? Surely you want something like Tiger Seal.
Anything will do just needs to be waterproof
Has anyone got any idea what these vents are for they don't seem to lead anywhere
Vents like these i think are purely there to allow air pressure to relieve itself if you slam doors etc apart from that completely pointless
Did this fix the leak?
Yes the leak hasn’t returned
@@mclaren_media9145 thank you. Did you put the Bungs back?
@@sorrytruthhurts yep bungs back and all the sealant put in and no more smell or water ingress to report of
