As someone suffering from the winter here in Brazil who’s travelled to plenty of colder places, I feel like part of the struggle is the fact that the buildings are designed to keep the heat out and very rarely have any type of heating. When it’s cold out in places that get a lot colder, you usually can get away with taking off your coat when you get inside, whereas over here we usually keep all our layers on even at home/work/etc. So thin, comfy layers that actually warm you up are extra important to me, since it wouldn’t be fun to spend the whole day working with a full on winter parka over a couple sweaters.
I just want to tell you that two years ago, i saw this video and tried your focusmate suggestion. I have since earned a graduate degree and have completely changed my life thanks to it. Thank YOU so much for making this video
I'm Canadian and my city is either 40 degrees or minus 40 degrees so good quality clothing is everything to me. Quality natural fabrics are a game-changer, I want all the cashmere thrifted or otherwise!
@@neletrox3886 I was gonna say the same thing ^^ I'm actually surprised this isn't a universal truth. Like, not necessarily with this wording, but just the general idea "if it's cold / rainy, put on the right (warm/waterproof/...) kind of clothes"...?? Seems like a no-brainer to me XD but that may depend on where you live/what the seasons are like. If you live somewhere that's usually hot, maybe you don't have clothes for that short time each year when it's cold, or vice versa? So I'd definitely recommend layering ^^ Probably the cheapest / most minimalist way to keep the cold out ;)
Mine are: a light alarm clock (softer way of waking up, no phone involved) Oura sleep ring (sleep tracker) different blackrolls acupuncture mat perfectly fitted bras (=bra fitting done by a professional)! so important memberships for the Yoga studio and the boxing gym around the corner (it's just a really good workout combo) subscriptions to MasterClass, Skillshare, and BookBeat (because you can never go wrong with reading or learning more) lunch 3 times a week at a local organic vegetarian/vegan restaurant near my office. I struggle a lot with consistent, healthy eating and I'll typically default to pizza and burgers, especially when I am stressed. But the food there is just next level and so delicious and wholesome. Knowing that at the very least I will have three amazing, healthy lunches a week gives me a sort of anchor when it comes to food.
I'd love to see an updated note-taking method in the future if that's something you'd be interested in - sounds like it would be helpful for my uni readings :)
I know right! The darkness is the worst part about winter. We only have 6 hours of daylight in December. I can't imagine living a place where the sun doesn't rise for weeks. I think I would get scared never to see the sun again XD
You're completely normal by my standards. I moved from Brussels to Brisbane 18 months ago and I have been wearing layers, the wind is cray cray here! Always enjoying your content, thank you for showing up consistently and boosting us with good energy 🌼🌼🌼
Excellent content. A few years ago I bought a small alarm clock from Reject and it is fab. I absolutely have to see the time as it irritates me not too lol. I like to know 'where I'm at' if you get what I mean. YES to layers! I wear 2 singlets in winter then a TShirt then a thick jacket, a scarf and beanie. Back in the early 90s my mum said to me I needed to buy a coat (I'd complained about being cold once to often 😆) and if I didn't she'd buy it! Well, can't be having that! Our taste is different 😉. That coat taught me how much easier life was in cold places. Silly really because I'd lived in extremely cold places all my life! The chore chart is a great idea too! I shall be implementing that. Thank you for your sincere videos. I love that you are honest in your content.
I have struggled with finding the right alarm clock and i just ordered the one you suggested. I LOVE IT! Ive only used ti one day but it woke me up perfectly. Thank god! Thanks Muchelle xo
Layers have improved my life too. I life in Indonesia and the weather can be crazy hot for hours then later raining cats and dogs. Sometimes the office aircon is unforgivingly cold until I can't feel my fingers. Cardigans and tank tops are my new best friends.
Since the first one, I 100% agree. I guess I feel like a kid when I get up. You know, kids are easy to persuade, easy to advertise, easy to direct to the certain way. I guess also in the morning, when we stop setting alarm with our phone, there's no fast changes but it gradually do which makes it ripple through our life. I usually don't watch purchasing videos. But this video is awesome. Thanks, mate.
I live in Chicago (USA) and we are known for many things -- including the most bitter winter weather. My best investment last year was a brand new GIANT PUFFY COAT. I already had one, it was wonderfully warm, but also too big on me and hella uggo. So now I have a well fitted, white coat, with a hood. And in that coat, I laugh mockingly at winter cold. Suck it, blizzards!
I feel you girl. I haaaate winter so much. Maybe I‘ve never experienced good winters (supposedly in some parts of the us it’s nice) but here in Germany it’s just dark and rainy and gloomy and disgusting. Summer all the way!!
Pretty sure it's just your family not layering up! Then again Melbourne is a unique beast when it comes to weather. Either way I'm glad you're getting cosy this winter
I’m learning that aligning my physical objects with my values means longevity of those things. If I’m buying a yoga mat, I’m buying an organic Ayurvedic dyed mat. I’m going to use my list of values from your other videos/lifemap and brainstorm what “thing” would reflect this?
I love your purchase !!they must be so useful and wise !! Right now I want yogibo ( cushion ) and new computer . I’d love to organize my life and create new stickers for my planner ! Love your video ! Have a great weekend
OMG I have the same feeling about winter/ winter clothes😂 I live in Brazil and our winter last like 3 weeks but this year omg I feel like I keep saying “I’m so cold” all the time 😂😂
You should try Roam Research or Obsidian for note taking - it's the perfect way to link ideas together in an organic way that doesn't require initial setup or knowing what the end structure will be
@@muchelleb look forward to hearing your review of it if you ever decide to do one :) This way of note taking (I use Roam) is the only thing that has stuck for me! I'm a research scientist and it's pretty cool the various connections that automatically emerge when I'm taking notes on papers
+1 to team that hate cold. I live in south Brazil and there are many cold and humid days in winter and no internal heating. Like people are saying in the comments - def a scandi thing... It's also a saying that rhymes in Swedish - "Det finns inga dåliga väder, bara dåliga kläder" I used to be so frustrated when our teachers in Sweden during winter would make us play outside and use this saying as reasoning. HAHA, It's not bloody true when it's -15 outside.

"No bad weather, only bad clothes." That person HAD to be German. We live by that here lmao
Always heard it was a scandanavian saying
