I am a big fan of MANY artists and bands, but Madonna has a something that nobody else has. She has done so many different looks and genres throughout her carrer! Basically, every single album brought a new look and sound to her. This leads me to the main point of my comment: Madonna is extremely misunderstood.
For example, people do not understand some of Madonna's artistic choices like vocal editing in albums like Madame X, Music or American Life (all co-produced by Mirwais). Nobody's perfect use of vocal editing is to represent the need of a person to hide their "humanity" when they have to apologize and it also plays with the idea that when you get mad at someone, that person feels to you like a cold person, like a robot, without feelings.
Obviously there are mere aesthetical choices behind it too, but everything Madonna does has a purpose, including controversial albums like Madame X or MDNA.
Each time she bought out the albums epitomised that era for me and reminded me of them decades. Still do. Without Madonna’s 8’s music in wouldnt of been the 80’s. The 90’s wouldn’t have been the 90’s and 2000’s well ….. wouldn’t of been the you know what I’m going to say.
Totally agree with you
Couldn't agree more with you. Madonna is a genius, literally. She always does her thing for a reason.
One of Madonna's best albums. It was a watershed in the music of the 2000s. I believe that the song "Music" revolutionized and reinvented the sound of "Disco/funk". It was also the first album Madonna worked on with "Trap" (Nobody’s Perfect).
The 2000s had great albums
NP is not Trap. It's Avant-Pop.
Honestly though it’s such a good album. It would’ve been so hard for her to follow up Ray of light but she pulled it off
nobody’s perfect is nowhere near trap …what? 😭 it’s a downtempo song, which is an electronic music subgenre. it’s influenced by glitch, trip hop, art pop music etc. trap is a genre created by the black community that was invented in 2003 by rappers T.I., jeezy, & gucci mane. lol…
@@ashtonb7931 Trap wasn't a thing in the 90s btw, and you know all those rappers huh? I do to
Paradise is to Music what Frozen is to Ray of Light. Mesmerizing
Agree!
🔥👍
Madonna uses vocoder a lot which technically isn’t auto tune.
That's true. A vocoder is an instrument and auto tune is a computer programme.
Even after 20 years, this album still sounds fresh and innovative and great
I'm always surprised to see negative or mediocre reactions to "Nobody's Perfect" - it's one of my favorite Madonna songs from the 2000's
Me too!
With "Paradise (Not for Me)" are brilliant
I agree! Nobody's perfect is my fave after The power of goodbye. So melancholy and moody. LOVE it!
Same! Nobody's Perfect is simply a brilliant production, with the purposefully over-vocodered vocals and the haunting guitar in it. Such a shame many don't appreciate it. At least Paradise (one of my favorites) gets more recognition lol.
I am with u.
I agree
I love her work with Mirwais, he's maybe my favourite collaborator of hers. Songs like Paradise really separate her from other pop stars in terms of production, subject matter and vision
The Holy Trinity; Ray of Light, Music, American Life. She was so ahead of her time! Those albums are the soundtrack of my life.
THANK YOU.. her literal best work + erotica bedtime stories and confessions. basically everything after erotica until hard candy was top tier. but music and American life and bedtime stories are so underrated
Yep
@@louisaugustexvi4515 Erotica and Bedtime stories are a trilogy on their own
@@cricriylascuarentahermanas728 me neither
@@quanashiab.9620 actually i agree.
Definitely one of her most underrated works in my opinion! Don’t Tell Me is a top 5 track for me from any of her albums.
I totally agree with you! Music deserved more attention and acknowledgment than several Madonna's albums.
I miss the live btw lol
@@icarosoares481 Agreed
This track is way to long and get‘s boring
@@sito7186 its only 4 minutes(no pun intended) so huh?
I recall her saying she was at a Sting concert and looking around at the super diverse crowd and being inspired to write "music makes the people come together".
Great reaction. I was critical of your Ray of Light reaction because you seemed to disregard most of the lyrical content. So, personally, I really appreciate you making it a point to hear what she had to say on these tracks, as well as what was going on sonically!
Sting set her up with Guy Ritchie, which I’ll never forgive him for. Lol. What a total douche
@German Morawski The album meanings is nice, but just don't like it, btw he did like ARTPOP from lady gaga(which is still her good album cause haters and critics and toxic little momsters and toxic mdna fans just say it's a flop)while he was drunk so maybe he'll like American life.
@German Morawski So yep
You did your homework!
Such an incredible album. One of my top 5 favorite albums Madonna put out. I would blast this on road trips. Every track is awesome. It’s got a cosmic euphoric sound to it.
Mirwais is truly a master. The interesting thing is that there is a juxtaposition in how he uses her voice. Sometimes he sticks to completely dry vocal takes without effects or reverb and at other times he uses the voice as a musical instrument, using cut and pasting, sampling, autotuning it to fit the needs of the sonic landscape he wants to create. Contrast is used heavily throughout the album promo as well. I'd suggest watching the Don't Tell Me music video in particular where she plays with the contrast between the earthy reality and literal special effects and blending those two worlds, including the cutting, pasting technique. I look forward to your reaction to American Life, where Mirwais really takes the wheel and pushes the envelope even more sonically! That album was WAY ahead of it's time and was heavily critiqued and has since become a fan and critical favourite!!!
It’s always interesting to see how different people react to M’s music. On the one hand I feel surprised that Music, Don’t Tell Me and Gone didn’t get hearts… they are among the best songs on the album for me, but the fact that people can like and appreciate other tracks is really interesting and cool… and yah, Paradise (Not For Me) is a masterpiece. Just gorgeous and when she does a duet with it live with a male singer on the Confessions tour, it’s transformed into something even more beautiful.
Yes.
Exactly! Don’t tell me and Gone are among my top 10 Madonna songs EVER :) This reminded me of how surprised I was at Taylor’s reaction to Nothing Really Matters, which is a masterpiece in my book. It’s always gratifying to see other people’s reactions to things you know well (and have enjoyed for decades in this case) when they’re coming from a “good place”, as Taylor’s are…
his name is Issac. He's a good boy.
@@ScribblebytesWorldwide yep. he’s the voice from the song Isaac
For me, I felt like they were overplayed way too much. That’s when I started to get board with this album during this time. I think that’s the reason why son fans think this way.
Her performance of “music” at the end of the tour is full with energy you have ti see it
Music sold 11 million albums worldwide. Music the singles was the biggest single in 2000. Was no.1 in 21 countries including the USA, UK and Australia. Don’t tell me peaked at no.4 in the states Tying her with the Beatles with 34 top 10 hits! Madonna has a total of 38 top 10 hits which is the most of any female artist.
Yeah "Music" sold 11 million albums worldwide as 2001 before her new Tour. I wonder how many millions more it sold during the past 20 years 😊😉
I personally don't think it matters that much.
@@soaribb32 By then Madonna was also since '98 the artist with most TOP 5 Hits in UK as well ("Don't Tell Me" was her 40th TOP 5 single in UK Charts).
Elvis Presley had 35 and would later catch up Madonna from 2002 to 2005 he got another 19 TOP 5 Hits getting his total updated to 54 thanks to his single remastered re-releases on CD single.
Madonna have had 46 TOP 5 Hits in UK as now while The Beatles only have 26 TOP 5 Hits in total in UK (including 2 during the 90's).
Cliff Richard (33) and Michael Jackson (29 - including 2 posthumous) are the artist that come next as having more TOP 5 Hits in UK.
"American Pie" was Madonna 10th #01 in UK while "Music" was Madonna 11th #01 in UK (both songs are in the album worldwide release except in US). This was also the first time Madonna had 2 consecutive #01 Hits in UK since the 1987 when "La Isla Bonita" and "Who's That Girl" were consecutive #01's. It was a big deal (as well as joining the 2 digits #01 Hits club in UK as well). Remind you that besides having 13 #01 hits in UK Madonna is the artist with most #02 hits in UK having had 12 of those (she have a total 34 TOP 3 Hits in Official UK Charts - only Elvis have more with the re-releases)
She named the album Music for a reason. It's an eclectic mix of genres.
Paradise Not For Me live! One her best live performances.
Especially when she sang this at the Confessions Tour. Loved it
Yessss we’re getting closer to confessions era
Same, i'm excited for that one the most
Just before that is...my least fav 🇺🇸
Ugh her worst era imo
@@EthansTarot To me it isn't, but we have opinions so don't let those people stop you reeeee.
Impressive Instant is amazing & should have been a single
In Nobody's Perfect you can hear in the brigde her voice without any effect, just 100% raw, no auto-tune, no reverb, no nothing. Also in I Deserve It where you can hear her raw vocals throughout the whole song and the reverb only appears in the last chorus, and also in Don't Tell Me and of course in Gone.
Yeah but nobody's perfect has too much auto tune, least favorite but the best 👌
@@quanashiab.9620 that's the duality of the album in one song, it has so much auto-tune and then her raw vocals without any effect.
@@NocturneSoul Yep. But it's good and my favorite on the album is what it feels like for a girl and I deserve it, P.S the chorus for impressive instant cover up her voice a little but awesome. I could imagine george michael being a feature in what it feels like for a girl.
@German Morawski Yep
This is one of her albums that I revisit the most. It's the perfect successor to ray of light. Paradise to me is one of her best songs, such an experimental gem to have in her discography.
Music is one of her best opening tracks. Besides, it was huge back in the 00's. She was everywhere. I can't describe the anticipation this album brought to us.
Yeahhh..... Do you remember the teaser clip that was released weeks before the single showed up?
It was just 8 seconds with visuals from The video.....long.enough to have us salivating and so excited about the "new" single!
It was really huge! "Music" was the best selling single in the world of the year 2000.
The Drowned World Tour for this album was my first Madonna concert. The visuals presented really elevated a lot of these songs - it was just amazing!
That's absolutely amazing. My first concert was Ricky Martin and Silverchair opened the concert. I wish it was Madonna though.
Impressive instant should be single!!
It was a promo single..there was a couple of remixes from Peter Rauhofer..they were played in clubs..I heard Warner was pushing her to make Amazing a single but she was really pushing for impressive instant..they didn't let her do it so Amazing was never released as a single.. impressive instant became a promo only white label record..
@@felixmeow660 Amazing in México it was a promo single but without video and only on radio, i think impressive instant is in the top 5 in the best songs of the album, but she Dont film more videos because she goes on tour immediately the same with conffesions on the dance floor
@@joseluisd7163 she wanted to do a video for impressive instant that's why she was pushing so hard for it to be a single but when warner rejected her idea she decided not to push Amazing as a single because it kind of sounded like a sequel to Beautiful Stranger
@@felixmeow660 Guy richie should have directed it
@German Morawski I deserve it for me needed to be a single, and here is what I imagine the music vid for impressive instant and the single version of I deserve it.
Aww you didn’t react to the bonus track (her infamous “American Pie”) which I have a special place in my heart for. 🙇🏼♂️❤️
Ikt
I still have the promotional coffemug that came with the album, when it came out in 2000.
It is still perfectly mint and I use it dayly when I drink my morning coffee. This album was indeed a hype after Ray of Light and I still remember waiting for it and buy it on its release date..I just turned 22, 10 days earlier.
I'm now but been a Madonna fan since I was 8 years old...Love her!
No one else in the mainstream world 20 years ago made anything like the song "Music" (and the whole album as well), Madonna offered a totally different form of pop than what you got with the Britneys and Xtinas of the same era. She has always been the DIFFERENT ONE
Why isn't there a live performance of Amazing yet? Man, am i the only one who travel with this song?
I find it cute that in Nobody's Perfect, the vocoder is so discordant with the melody that it mimicks how the song could be purposefully wonky at the beginning, then transforming into a beautiful self reflection ballad. Music is my favorite Madonna album - it's compact, daring and highly artistic. My favorite track is also Paradise, it encapsulates perfectly for me the alternative Y2K musical style and trends - the melancolic strings mixed in an all-electro pop vibe, with almost surrealistic lyrics, all the sythesizer textures... ahhh makes me extremely nostalgic.
This is my favorite Madonna album. It’s different from the others. And for the first time here madonnas is showing herself very self reflective and sad. It’s very deep.
One tip for you: as you hearing the albums, put the focus in the sounds, go on a deep vibing… reading the lyrics as you’re hearing the song for the first time, sometimes it’s no so good for the experience.
The album of the same name is a great follow up to her ROL masterpiece. She really went all in with this new electro/techo sound. It's an amazing album!
👑 Her albums are a journey from start to finish. The way it evolves from Music to Gone is incredible. G.O.A.T 👑
11:57 Lyrically, *I Deserve It* is probably my favorite song from this album! Love this whole album 💿🔥🎧
Gorgeous song
American pie
Cyberraja
Lo que siente la mujer
Run
Like an angel passing through my room
Liquid love
Little girl
...another level of greatness, your experience will be incomplete if you don't listen to those unreleased masterpieces
Also…Has To Be (Ray of Light sessions)
@German Morawski I meant the songs recorded for music album, not the movie, but yeah , one of my favorite songs of her, it's wonderful on piano!
@@karimnaboulsi1106 Time stood still is nice, would have been great in the album.
@German Morawski yeah it was for the movie and i liked it , don't know why critics hated this cover..
Cyber raga absolutely slaps and I wish it was included on the album and not just a region locked exclusive
"Folktronica" is explored further on her next studio album, American Life. Though it's more rock-oriented and not country.
I really hope you just forgot to heart Gone, cause that is a standout ballad not just in the album, but in her whole catalogue
This album was huge back in 2000. The lead single Music was the main hit of the year. The album was very successful in sales and was present almost in every Best Albums list BUT it seems to me its magic faded a little bit through the years. It's just my own opinion but even Madonna fans don't usually rank Music that high. Back in 2000 everyone said it was one of her greatest works and copied her cowgirl style but not now. Music is my 13th favorite Madonna album. Music, Paradise & Runaway Lover are my favorite tracks
The final single was good to
Disco, Trip Hop, Trance, Country, House, avant garde
THANK YOU SO Much for doiing madonnas discography!!!!! i’ve been waiting
Thank you for this, it really lit up my day
Just came across your reactions and I'm loving them - huge huge Madonna fan here and SO pumped to hear your take on American Life, its so polarising but my favourite Madonna album by far. Glad you're enjoying the M journey!
YOU REALLY gotta see these videos!!! Such a great album, great reaction!!
Lotsa love my man
👍💙😘😀👊😎zane
Been waiting this for weeks
His first three favorites songs are mine too. I got even surprised! Good reaction, Taylor! Can’t wait to see you reacting to American Life.
I HONESTLY love seeing straight men feeling the power of MADONNA 💯❤️
Love this album!
Surprised the title track didn't get a heart. The song was huge, not just a song that came and went - its popularity lasted months. Beside being another #1 for Madonna, it holds the record for the most weeks at the top of the dance music charts. Its the 2nd biggest selling dance club song of the 2000's, 2nd to Madonna's Hung Up. The song is considered one of her best. Videography highlights of the era: Music 2001 Grammy awards, the promo tour,, acoustic Don't tell me on letterman, the Drowned Wold tour Music tracks, in particular What it Feels Like, Music and the video interlude of Paradise and all the music videos: Music - filmed while she was pregnant; What it Feels Like - directed by then husband Guy Richie - only played after 9pm on MTV due to the violent content and Don't Tell Me - flawless. No longer the goth-y earthy Veronica Electronica geisha - now an electro-funk/cowgirl. The critically praised and huge selling Ray of Light follow up Music album did not disappoint in terms of critical acknowledgements and sales. Madonna wanted Impressive Instant released as the 4th single, her label wanted Amazing and a battle ensued with neither released as the official 4th single. Impressive got a promo release as a dance/club song, peaked at #1 and stayed there for a few weeks - Madonna's 27th #1 on that chart. The album cemented Madonna as a true legend and still a pioneer in the music industry. An artist who's career blasted off 18 years earlier, she would not have to lean on her classics from the 80's or be considered an '80's artist' as her new music, Ray of Light and Music, was just as popular, selling just as well, winning more awards and she was easily selling out stadiums worldwide...and, in her 40's - somewhat unique in the female pop music landscape but barely a distraction - yet. So much going for her at this point that few could have predicted the disappointment ahead with the next album release/era.
Thank you for the reaction, I believe & hope that you will love the underrated “American Life” album you will be reviewing next 💗 💫
@Marvin Quezada lmfaooo
Now I can't wait to see your reaction to the "Don't tell me" music video!
Thanks for reacting.
„American Pie“ was also featured on the European Edition as a Bonustrack
I feel like this album was highly influential and spawned a bunch of female artists using the acoustic/electronic fusion sound or the folktronic you speak of. Dido was probably the biggest to come out of it
Dido’s debut album was actually released a full year before Music
@@fajarzakri4936 Exactly. Dido's debut album is basically trip-hop with pop-rock undertones. Maybe Madonna, Mirwais and Orbit wanted to explore that sound.
So one of the next album is "Confessions on a dancefloor". Please do the nonstop version reaction cuz it does the full 180 on how the album sounds
@German Morawski thats why I said "one of the next"
Masterpiece!! Love that album!! Music is the coolest song EVER!! 🫀
Paradise is one of her best tracks/productions
Love watching your experience listening to Madonna. This entire album is superb. A definite leap forward.
I'm really appreciative of all the effort you put into your videos.
Your entire Madonna journey so far has been so professional in terms of the analysis you make of her music and her career but also in terms of your over all presentation. You seem really invested in understanding Madonna as an artist, which is why I would like to suggest to you, reacting to her CONCERT TOURS. (They EVOLVE just as much as her music). Madonna describes herself first and foremost as a PERFORMANCE ARTIST; and anyone who has had the privilege of seeing her live will tell you the woman was BORN TO PERFORM. Ask any of her fan and they will agree that knowing Madonna only by her music without knowing her as a performer, is ALMOST like NOT KNOWING HER AT ALL!!!!
“I’ve been so high , I’ve been so down up to the skies down to the ground” that metaphor always touches me !
It’s my favorite Madonna album so far. It brings me to another world.and moreover I think DON’T TELL ME is her best song ever
My very first Madonna album I listened to when I was 10. Paradise (Not for Me) as a 10 year old at the time really stood out to me and still does after all these years. The meaning of that song has transformed over time for me. It's cool seeing you label it as your favorite from this album as well.
Finally!😍😍 This album is my 4th favorite Madonna album!
my fav album!!!!
Oh, Mirwais’ album “Production” is amazing. “Paradise, not for me” is on there too.
This is maybe my fave Madonna record! It got better, and better!!! Madonna rules everything!
You should react to the video for Don't Tell Me. The choreography is brilliant.
@German Morawski second best imho...... What it feels like for a Girl is an impressive 3 minute action film.... A máster piece , indeed.
@German Morawski yes
@@popboy0 not really action but yeah it's cool
Here I am 4 am listening to this jewel. 🙌 just woow!
How you can not heart ❤️ Music and Don’t Tell Me is beyond me. They’re two of the biggest singles and charted well. Music is a banger! The live award show performance was LIT! 🔥🔥
Right? Those are 2 of the best songs on this album to me but everybody taste is different 😀
It goes to show that "Impressve Instant" should really have been a single with a video.
If you do a reaction to Paradise
( not for me )make sure it’s from the confessions tour with Isaac it’s fucking amazing
Not yet tbh
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
My favourite Madonna album
This is awesome, excited to see what you think of this…I have a feeling you will really enjoy this 💎
I remember taking the day of work the day that the album was released. Listened to it and on first listen I feel in love with What it feels like for a Girl.
OTDE, if you listen to the album remembering that she had met, fallen in love and given birth to their Son while writing this album it puts some of the tracks in perspective. It's really a love album. They married at the end of that Year in a castle in Scotland.
Nobody's Perfect is about when she and Guy had a big fight and she went back to New York from London and jumped on Concorde to apologise and he had bought her a pair of shoes that she had wanted to buy. That was when she made the decision to move to buy a house and live full time in London. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Don´t forget bonus track “American Pie”
I remember when music came out. All the songs were so innovative and contagious. My friends who didn t like madonna were playing music and impresive instant all the time.
Music of my 18th year on this planet and probably my favourite Madonna album. It's almost seamless.
That soundbite on not having vocal effects actually pertains to her vocal on Don't Tell Me. Give it another listen & try to hear how distinct her vocals sound compared to overly produced tracks (anything by William Orbit for example).
Wonderful album!
This album has always felt like Madonna's most transitional album. You can definitely tell where she was coming from (Ray of Light) and where she was headed (American Life). That's why it sometimes feels like a genre clusterfuck
@German Morawski yeah for sure! But also sonically; Ray of Light was a cohesive album with electronic experimental club beats as the vibe basically and American Life was a cohesive album with the duality between acoustic and electronic as its main theme. Music has bits of Ray of Light's electronic experimentalism (Impressive Instant, Runaway Lover, Nobody's Perfect, Paradise, but most importantly, Cyber Raga), but also bits of American Life's duality (I Deserve It, Don't Tell Me, Gone), combined with songs that gel the two together (Music, Amazing, What It Feels Like For a Girl, American Pie), but overall, it seems way less cohesive than the two albums surrounding it.
@@RuuBjAh1 Yep, and it gets darker with American life with stronger futuristic edm folkoinca sound
@@RuuBjAh1Runaway lover sounds like it would fit in the ray of light era. And it had the dun dun like in general, and I now sing sky fits heaven over amazing since it sounds similar even tho it's more tropical.

don't forget to react to don't tell me
Amazing to me was very much a sibling of Beautiful stranger - they are very similar.
I agree, still love both songs but they are very similar.
The best! ❤️
Very nice album. I was expecting this reaction. Personally I prefer your reaction mindset when you are more relaxed than at the desk but still full of substance.
Plus: Taylor which is this brand of shirt like you used in Erotica’s Video? Liked a lot!
I remember listening to MUSIC for the first time on the radio while working, there were three Madonna fans including me in that job and we were just waiting that day to play it, I couldn't 3xpress how exited I was because I was working but that song was fresh air to me, and when I saw the video I was very exited too, the new look, New hair, all her cartoons. I liked old days in music history
Nice
This song is amazing.
OMG, you liked my fav songs 😍. Amazing is one of Madonna's best songs. You should react to Time Stood Still (from The Next Best Thing soundtrack). Also, the voice at the beginning of What It Feels Like For a Girl, is Charlotte Gainsbourg. You should react to her albums, please 🙏🏻
Aye saw this on the Patreon first 💕
I love Music, Gone, I Deserve It and American Pie 💕
Mirwais also produced Madonna’s American Life and many of the tracks on Madame X, her most recent project
Amazing is my fav song from Music 💙
Taylor PLEASE REACT TO THE 2001 DROWNED WORLD TOUR!!! Its one of Madonna’s best tours (next to The Confessions Tour)
the show is mostly made up of tracks from Ray of Light/Music. In my opinion, its Madonna at her live performance/creative peak!
There are three more songs from this era that you missed🙂: Cyber-Raga, Time Stood Still and the (in)famous cover of American Pie.

Eu amoooo ❤️
I love madonna!.. i love u taylor!… I am moving my fist like u told so during listening to Runaway Lover…
I'm wearing RayCons, so you're literally coming in my ears loud and strong 👌
Music is my favourite Madonna album
At first I didn't like it but then it grew on me and now it's one of my favorites from her
I like how you put these random facts below
Amazing is like a twin song of her earlier single from Austin Powers called Beautiful Stranger.
The albums Ray of Light, Music, American Life, Confessions and Madam X are her best releases to date. Well in my opinion🙏
madonna is unique in the way that she can change to any kind of music. and give rise to new sounds
The fast that you didn’t know music is mind blowing. So jealous that you experience it for the first time
The fact that you didn’t put a heart is again mind blowing haha
