      Dat is juist de telkens terugkerende discussie over het wel of niet vervangen van de manchet.
      Volvo Penta schrijft vervanging voor na een vastgesteld aantal jaren, terwijl veel bootbezitters eraan twijfelen of dat wel nodig is, omdat de manchet er bij die voorgeschreven vervanging op het oog vaak nog prima uitziet.

    What is the gasket at 6.11. I did not think there was a gasket between engine and gearbox/saildrive?

    • @MrStone282
      @MrStone282  6 років тому

      That gasket is the very important insulation between the engine and the saildrive and it's there to prevent galvanic corrosion.
      Sometimes it dissapears during non-professional maintenance. That's why the mechanic specifically shows it at 06:11.
      Google "saildrive completely corroded" and you may find some nice pictues and articles about possible saildrive corrosion ;-)

      @@MrStone282 Thank you for this info. I have recently taken my saildrive off the engine and there was no such gasket. Do you know the volvo part no for this plastic gasket please? I appreciate what you say but I have no corrosion on my saildrive as the anodes do their job. Any help much appreciated. Bob.

      @@MrTrapper28 Sorry, I do not know the part no, but if you Google "volvo penta exploded view" (+ your engine/saildrive type) you may be able to find the part and part number yourself. Or just ask your supplier.
      I'm happy for you that your anodes still do the job, but better be save than sorry? Cheers, Peter

      @@MrStone282 I appreciate your answer. This gasket is not shown on the volvo exploded drawings, however I have asked Keypart my volvo supplier about it.

      Item 47 in the drawing.

    Coplimenti per il video. Anche io ho un bavaria 44 del 2002 ma ho notato che la membraba esterna non è presente. E una cosa grave? Grazie

      Hi Paolo. I hope you read english, as I don't write italian ;-)
      Thanks for your compliment.
      The outside membrane has no technical or constructional function. it's there just for steamlining.
      Many Bavaria's are missing that membrane, because often they are not properly installed (p.e. not properly degreased or abraded before glueing), lost underway and ripped up by the propellor.
      If you don't mind some (minor) loss of speed, it's no big deal ;-)
