I was doing the stand up and walk out to the side method in the past with a Bells of Steel Viking attachment. Now using the Figjammer and mutant metals handles
Wouldn’t using an axle bar be better? I find landmine movements so smooth with an axle bar as there’s no flex. Only reason I can think of to use a barbell is if you prefer a spinning collar or the flex is more competition like?
Hmmm….with land mine attachments and its popularity, I’m very surprised there isn’t a dedicated bar just for that. I vision one end normal where plates would rest-and the other end of the bar being the land mine attachment all in one. Just a single piece directly attaching to the rack.
Thanks for doing the video. This was very insightful. Love it. I like the safety strap piece. It looks like your landmine post is higher than the starting point. If the landmine post is a hole or 2 below the viking handle starting point do you believe the straps are necessary? Also do you recommend the viking press is below shoulder height to start like chest height or do you have it about shoulder height other times. I do it at a little below shoulder height and press bend my knees and dip then press from there. Feels better on my shoulders
Great video as always. Question - do you also use spotter arms in the front when doing figjammer hack squats now, or are you still using j cups like you used to?
Cool vid! Nice setup. Not sure that the safety strap is necessary (surely doesn't hurt) , you'd have to pull the bar out of the landmine a solid 6 inches for it to actually come out... unless you set your anchor point much higher than your starting point I don't see this happening. On a post land mine maybe. But hey I mean, it doesn't hurt.
Genius setup. My rack is 5 inches from back garage wall so can't put Kleva landmine there, I have that one too and love it. I might hang the back of the bar on a Henny Strap so it can go back a bit further than Kleva on rack. I do this one arm at a time will need to get Viking attachment. Was considering getting Mutant Metals Dip attachment and handles so will likely use your front setup! You face away from the setup do you feel it hits your rear delts more?
I think it’s a better bar path but my reasoning is less for hitting my Delts and more for being effective in the execution of the movement I do in comp. Good question though big hits the delts a little better
@@TheKurtlocker My favorite shoulder press is using the Rep cambered bar standing and I lean against heavy bench at about a 80 degree angle so no cheating and like you use spotters just below shoulder height. I'm thinking of getting Viking handles and would like to do these as well especially after heavy regular sets and do higher reps and lean into it working core and maybe squat down a bit and push off since its just a finisher so don't care if I use other muscles to help. I have Rep rack and want to build onto it to have permanent upgright to have Mutant Metals dip attachment and I also love my Exponent Edge seal pad Sorinex's didn't fit 5/8" racks. I'd have gotten 1" rack now but you live and learn from mistakes. Curious what you do for hamstrings right now I'm doing dumbbell RDL's as Jay Cutler recommends those and glute ham raises and leg curls. I try to sprint every week and really feel them sprinting.
As someone who doesnt train strongman I rarely do the viking. But when I do I have have that landmine attachment from Titan. Not as bougie for sure, but works good enough for what I need 👍
Does the slight arc of the viking press feel that much different than an overhead press with a neutral grip bar? I often use a T-grip double angled or single neutral for overhead press.
The safety strap setup is legit. I don’t have the equipment to do this but I love to see the creativity. Well done!
Thank you! Gotta start building your arsenal

I just hated the blind re-rack
This is a timely video. I had a bad fall in the gym a few weeks back from the barbell coming out of a Landmine. I like the safety tie down thing
The details. It helps I had a fairly catastrophic fail to learn that lesson…
I have a better solution coming!

Great video. Really enjoy a video of how to do a movement like Viking press without having to buy a machine.
Thanks for watching!
A true connoisseur of safety! Great setup!
Gotta stay safe. Especially when there is a real concern of the whole thing coming down on you

I use the axle too. It “feels” safer to me for whatever reason.
The axle is a better bar to use but I honestly just overlooked it because I’m reviewing the Rep bar at the moment. Good catch!
The additional flex feels shady for sure. An axle would have been better.
A DIY bar would be even better with extra sleeve space for the weights....
@brianvesta sound idea.
You dialed this in! Love this!
Thanks for watching!
So smart!!!
Thank you!

That's a neat idea!
A dedicated bar takes up more space than I prefer the figjammer but that’s just me! If I had more space I’d consider a dedicated bar

I set it up this way so that I can dip without hitting the safety arm. I definitely think using the strap is important for safety

I am not using the arm for the squats because I like to start in the “up” position
beautiful setup
Thank you sir!

@chrisdonnell2575 Nordic curls, good mornings, RDLs for hammies. Agreed on all else.

The landmine attachment doesn’t have to be bougie, but it does have to work. You gotta train strongman bro!
@@TheKurtlocker I would.... but I am not a strong man 😅
@Eccles_basement_gym one does not train strongman movements because they are strong. One trains them because they are fun

It’s different but it’s from the standpoint of being on a hinge and less for the arc
You already have the new pad for transformer bar ? How does it work on old ones ?
Like a champ! Love it and it can be used off of the transformer.

For the algorithm 🫡. That was way more in depth, safe and complicated than I anticipated when you originally teased it. Great vid!
Hopefully only as complicated as necessary. Thank you for the watch!
