- Deity has once again released a new sound product for a reasonable price and this time, it's a boom pole. In this video I'm going to put it through it's paces and see how good it really is.

Deity did send me their Boom Pole in exchange for a fair and honest assessment. I do get to keep it following this video but I'm not going to allow that to affect my opinion. They also did not have any input in this video nor did they see it before release.

I think you used the wrong link in the description. To Purchase the Deity boom --- that link
The link was copied and works outside of Genius but Genius seems to be having an issue with it. Please use the below URL instead to go directly there:

And it just started working again.
Are you going to do a review of the new deity Theos? I'm so much waiting for this!
It's not out yet. We'll see if they send it to me.
Man thanks for your content. Very detailed and informative, thanks for taking the time.
Sure thing. Thanks for watching.
Waiting for this video! ❤
It has arrived.
back with another banger video 🔥🔥🥳🥳
Thanks for watching! 😎
I don't even want a new cheap boom pole. I do want a nice boom pole. Great video.
👍
K-tek just released a new travel pole -- the KC108. You should do a similar review with that one as it looks a bit higher in quality at the same price and likely better dimensions (collapsed vs extended)
I've had it for the past two weeks. Expect that evaluation on Monday, July 17.
It definitely wouldn't replace my K-Tek, but it would be a good travel option. Great review!
Thank you.
Allen, You might consider the NEW Neewer carbon fiber boom pole at $100. It is feature/design equivilent to the Deity boom pole at half the price. 1mm wall carbon fiber construction. Aluminum knuckles with a 3 split collar rather then 4 split on Deity. Slightly longer and slightly heavier. Almost 9.8 feet -vs- 8.5 feet. 1.3lb / 580g -vs- 1.1 lbs / 540g. A carrying bag -vs- Deity's nice carrying tube. It has the same 3/8-16 hole on the butt end, but no rubber foot. knuckles lock solidly with a 1/4 turn. The carbon fiber sections slide easily. There are rubber O ring cushions between knuckles to lessen pinched skin when collapsing. Same type of plastic internal centering sleve as the Deity.
All in all I think it gives the Deity pole a run for the money at half the price. You should check it out.
The knuckle threads are interesting. It looks like 27 threads per inch but if you trace a single thread 360 deg around, you find that there are 3 new threads skipped over. I might call this a 4 way thread. What this means is if you loosen 1/4 turn, the collar moves about 1/32" or slightly less than 1mm. Clever.
Right now Neewer has a site wide 20% off sale for the July 4th weekend. Hope I don't sound like a shill for Neewer.
I just spotted that one yesterday. I'm on the fence about spending money right now due to the work shut down thanks to the WGA strike.
@@SoundSpeeds Ask the manufacturer to send you one for a review.
Robert already wrote them and CCed me.
What is the Max Sound boom pole mentioned @8:00 ? I didn't find it when I Googled it.

Sure thing. Make sure you check out the K-Tek Essentials too: ua-cam.com/video/_Xby5bcnY60/v-deo.html
You know, it would be weird for people to call themselves a "pro" at something, and it sounds so cringey. But you're an actual pro. Like actual actual pro. Which make sense.
Yeah, I've thought about that many, many times. My videos can only help people if they click on them so I've labeled them for people looking for a pro opinion. Thanks for watching.
Hi Allen,
I don't have experience with boom poles and that's why I watch so attentive your review.
1. I see you pay enough attention to sliding noise between segments.
Why would be this so important, as I think you really use a pole after you lock it and is full sat-up?
2. About those plastic rings inside lock system:
It seems it's the same system used for tripods - "twist lock".
For tripods, those rings are called shims and are sold as a set for each leg (or individual for each joint, for some brands). For cheap no name items, you may not find spare parts.
Would be nice to find them replaceable as well for boom poles as they may get worn after some times or damaged if you force twisting the segments while they are not locked.
3. I'd like you could prepare a comparison of... let's say for tripods, two budget oriented (It may be Deity and Rode) and two upper tiers with few recommendations between them.
Sliding sound between segments matters because we may have to extend or collapse a boom mid take. We don't always have time to go slow. Yes, the plastic pieces inside the sections are similar to those found in monopods and tripods. Not the right approach for a boom pole when it's noisy. I can't see myself lining up tripods to compare.

Hi Allen,
My bad, sorry. At 3rd point I intended for boom poles but I wrongly wrote "tripods", sorry.
If you see I named boom poles as example.
@ovi.1000 Gotcha. We'll see what happens. I have one more boom evaluations in two weeks and perhaps one two weeks after that. We'll see what happens in time.
@@SoundSpeeds
"extend or collapse a boom mid take"
While recording?
This seems tough.
I saw you presenting boom techniques but not this move.
This should be an advanced skill.
I'll do that in time.
Get your mind out of the gutter! 😂 Whaddaya doin just flyin around bee?? 🐝
I’m crackin up this guy BIG mad
😎
Andoer MK-3000 is one I tried. Super light and allows the install of an XLR cable internally BUT the cable has to be custom installed or use Mini XLR to insert. Don't not pull open with any sort of force. I broke it the second time I tried it, cheap in price is it seems CHEAP in quality.
Yeah, sorry about that but you need to be careful with unrecognized brands.
@@SoundSpeeds It's great to see someone actually testing boom poles, I never used a boom pole before. It's good to see a real expert doing "real" reviews... I'm keeping that K-Tek you reviewed in mind if I get another boom pole. I am now working with a large UA-camr with a quarter of a million subscribers taking care of audio, filming and editing. I'd normally not use a boom pole but it's a nice option for avoiding wireless systems and when not wanting to be stuck to the camera.
Booms are great if used properly. Have fun.
What do you think of tiltas zombie rig?
The original Zombie Rig? Watch: ua-cam.com/video/l_erQnsjmfc/v-deo.html
The new Zombie Rig Lite? Better but looks bulky - like it's trying too hard to be a solution but even address problems we don't have.
thanks a lot
Sure thing
Knows instinctively how to boom pole a kitchen set with a multitube of reflective surface. Also points camera at the sun :D
😎
I’m still surprised that this is a lav recording the whole time.
I should buy your course I think 😅.
I assure you, it's a lav. :-) You can even see it, if you look.
@@SoundSpeedsHi, what Lav mic and recorder are you using?
Deity HD-TX and BP-TRX
@@SoundSpeeds thanks 👍
Sure thing
