His later stuff is even better imo...the less known stuff...the albums Echo, Hypnotic Eye, and Mojo are absolute masterpieces ....Hell, ever song Tom and the Heartbreakers ever made is a masterpiece . Honey Bee off of Wildflowers is so damn good
Tom Petty is hard to put in a genre. He always did his own thing. That's why he was such a great fit with the Traveling Wilburys. A band of cool guys just having some fun together.
Tom Petty has so many hits: Breakdown, The Waiting, You Got Lucky, American Girl, I Need to Know, Refugee, Rebel....this is only the tip of the iceberg.
Tom is my favorite rock & roll artist. Saw him at the Hollywood Bowl three days before he died. Listening to him makes me sings & jerk my body around that feels sooooo good! Miss him so much, just seeing his video’s breaks my heart. 😔❤️
You’re playing some real blinders, Jay! Love this song so much, another one that takes me back, with the sublime Stevie Nicks on backing vocals. Free Falling is another gem.
Absolutely love Tom Petty he has so many songs that were actually iconic and played on the radio stations for years and then his stint with the Traveling Wilberrys which you should check out
Your a joy to watch......makes me smile everything. I watch you and wonder who in your life was your biggest influence......your so genuine... it's beautiful.
The sitar player on the mushroom is Dave Stewart of Eurythmics. Heartbreaker guitar slinger now plays with Fleetwood Mac as for the film clip let's say a hallucinogenic stimulation of the imagination. Good call, love your work. Peace.
Thanks for brining this video to my attention! I've been listening to this song for years, decades now but I've never really seen this whole video before😎😎 Very creative! It took me all these years to become a Tom Petty Fan; guess because it is played so much on contemporary music radio stations I have to listen to at work all day. Back in the day this was considered Hard Rock and would never be played in a grocery store. Thanks to my job now they made me a new Tom Petty fan. R.I.P. Man! You are Truly missed🙌🙌
It's a good song live too....Mike Campbell is his guitar player.... vastly underappreciated, kind of a low key, out of the spotlight guy... can really play
In the late '90s I went thru my CD collection and did the "if I was stranded on a deserted island and could only have 1 CD, what would it be???" and I narrowed down to Tom Petty's greatest hits and the Great Expectations Soundtrack. Saw Tom Petty in concert and he was just great! Always up to listen to more Tom Petty. J- he has so many good songs, "Refugee" and "You Got Lucky". Also, check out his duet with Stevie Nicks "Stop Dragging My Heart Around".
Don’t Come Around Here No More was released as a single and on its parent album Southern Accents In 1985. The title was inspired by a breakup between Stevie Nicks and Joe Walsh. The instrument you hear at the beginning is a sitar which is an instrument from India, The song peaked at #2 on the US Billboard Album Rock Tracks chart, reached #50 on the UK Singles chart and peaked at #13 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
So many great songs Tom has. Try “ “You Got Lucky” ☘️. He’s original. Nobody like him. I loved the song “Change of Heart” I bought it on a small red vinyl transparent 45 record and played it on the jukebox regularly. 🎵
Tom Petty's videos are always so imaginative and entertaining. Love watching them. Also try some of his best: Free Fallin', Into the Great Wide Open, The Waiting, Breakdown, Face In the Crowd, and I Won't Back Down.
Love the percussion in this song. The video used to give me nightmares when I was a kid. (Alice in wonderland gave me nightmares😂). But it is definitely one the the best Tom Petty songs. Running Down a Dream is also great.
"Refugee" was his first big hit and has always been my favorite. Also "You Don't Know How it Feels" is pretty darn good. BUT THE VERY BEST IS "Stevie Nicks and Tom Petty "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around"
When you were closing your eyes you missed the parts where the munchkins were taking Alice's donut away from her, Alice seeing herself turn into a piglet in a baby carriage and the cast of characters eating Alice who turned into a cake and that's how Tom's Mad Hatter ate her head. The sitar gave this song an Indian feel to it.
Miss Tom, he died the same way Prince did. Overdose from pain medicine. The man had been touring with a broken hip. After my surgery I understood how easily this could happen. I was out of things and practically begging doctors for more pain meds.
One if my friends had shoulder replacement, but, the opioids made her sick. I was glad, in a way, but, she suffered a lot. She had other things that barely touched the pain and an ice pack the size of a football player's shoulder pad.😢
A Room at the Top by Tom... his greatest song, and not found on the usual classic rock genre playlists. Please check it out... I'm sure many of your loyal listeners have not heard it either. Cheers
Tom petty was my birthday buddy I love him!!!! I remember watching this video when I was very small and my mom thinking something was wrong with me bc I laughed when the girl is cake and being ate lol 😂 I still love the weird
Tom Effin Petty. This was such a trippy video when I was a kid. I was only 5 when the Damn The Torpedoes album came out in '79 and I still jam it. Videos like this and You Got Lucky helped them transition into the Mtv era. RIP
I’ve just subscibed to your channel after seeing loooots of your videos today as you made videos of most of my favourite songs. I like it how you really appreciate all the layers in the songs and gets the feeling that’s transmitted. I can see you are not afraid to go to several styles and I was wondering what would you think about the band called TOOL if you don’t know them yet. For example their song-duo Parabol-Parabola. I would recommend their official videos. Thanks and keep on going.
Oh such a magnificent rabbit hole....another singer/band that never made a bad song. Talk about traversing rabbit holes in this vid 🤷. Check out his music with Traveling Wilburys. Such a unique sound/voice he had 💗
Oh yes✊✊✊ This made my night. The dude was freaking awesome. Incl his *Traveling Wilburys and Mudcrutch* days. When Roy Orbison; Jeff Lynne; and George Harrison wanna jam with you... Jayvee please dig further with him
A true legend. The two songs you’ve heard were later in his career. Check out the classics from his first album! All his songs are great in my opinion. 🎵
Some of their early hits are absolute classics: American Girl, Breakdown, Refugee, Here Comes My Girl, The Waiting...

Shadow of a doubt is epic to

Running Down a Dream is a must - great rocker!
If you haven't seen the documentary by that same name,it's the greatest!
Co-written and produced by Jeff Lynne of ELO. They were great friends and band mates in The Traveling Wilbury's.
Tom Petty is hard to put in a genre. He always did his own thing. That's why he was such a great fit with the Traveling Wilburys. A band of cool guys just having some fun together.
They were soooo good! 👍👍😂
No it’s not...Tom was Rock N Roll at its best

Definitely You Got Lucky
'Here Comes My Girl', 'Even The Losers', 'Shadow Of A Doubt'
You Got Lucky is the best
Nothing sounds like this song to me. It's one of the most unique songs to come from a rock artist.
Tom is my favorite rock & roll artist. Saw him at
the Hollywood Bowl three days before he died. Listening to him makes me sings & jerk my body around that feels sooooo good! Miss him so much, just seeing his video’s breaks my heart. 😔❤️

"American Girl" PLEASE!!!
This vid is a work of art....
American Girl is a classic
I also love "You Got Lucky" and "Breakdown". There is a live version where the audience sings it PERFECTLY. I mean they even harmonize the chorus.
Tom Petty's music has a distinct sound. Each song is different but you always know it is his
Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics produced this gem and was also on the video in the beginning
