I can’t explain the contrast in box/packaging colors, however some of the other inconsistencies might be attributed to different “releases” of the same model. For example: January 2020 Oris redesigned the Big Crown ProPilot Big Date line, making small adjustments to the watch’s aesthetics (Extra beveling on the underside of the case edge, more detailing on the crown, raised numerals on the face, etc). It’s possible Oris has done similar redesigns/updates to other watches as well. I would suggest you research or ask Oris directly if they’ve updated the watch you’re worried about. Hope that helps alleviate someone’s anxiety even a little..
because the boxes are made by different suppliers. they might have changed suppliers because some other company offered to make them for a different price. if oris is saving say $3 a box and produces 1 million watches a yr that is a lot of money saved. especially for a independent watch maker.

Stumbled across this video. FYI, the box on my first gen Aquis purchase looks more like your fake box. And I bought mine from my local authorized dealer when it first came out.
So aside from the visual aspect.. What kind of movement is in the fake? How does it compare to the movement in the original - in performance, looks *and* construction?
This is basic ETA movement with some small cosmetic upgrade from ORIS. Chinese manufactures have a license for ETA/Silita movements. They making OG movements and selling to manufacturers which making fakes. The just making some cosmetic upgrades like in original.

Following on from my previous, sceptical comment in the first video. I’m more convinced that you’re right, not only for the reasons that you mentioned, but the word Oris is misaligned on the fake clasp - it’s not centred, it’s slightly off to the right and the writing elsewhere is problematic ie, the fonts are similar but not exact. Companies tend to keep their fonts come hell or high water.

The bracelet are the same because they are in made in Hong Kong. I had to purchase the rubber strap for my pro diver and it came from Hong Kong just the 2 rubber straps without the clasp cost $240.00!! This is why the bracelet looks the same they are manufactured in Hong kong Hope this helps. And yes the strap was genuine Oris rubber

The website is tricky. I tried typing I about 10 serial numbers from watches I seen on ebay and every one was unknown. Makes me think they come with a card with additional serial numbers? I don't really know. I did just but an Aquis, so I'll def be checking it out asap when I get mine lol

You also missed the main thing, the ORIS logo on the dial. Notice how it’s more thicker and slightly larger as opposed to the fake, which seems noticeably thinner and spaced slightly further apart. Of course not many would be able to tell even myself if only the fake was held in person. It’s very very scary nowadays to even see Oris timepieces being cloned. Not saying it’s a cheap watch, however it’s at the entry point of Swiss watches so you would suspect clones would be more likely to be found on higher end timepieces such as of course Rolex and mid-high level ones like Omega. The actual Haute Hologerie ones like Patek are even harder to fake but there was a 5711-1a which was scarily close and the dead giveaway was the dial tone/color of the gray-blue, and of course the semi-decorated beveling and such on the back of the watch and the PP stamp on the back also. Another one that shocked many was the white dial Omega SMP300, the latest iteration with the laser etched wave dial, and that was scary. The difference was so subtle, it was the tone of the red markings on the dial yet you wouldn’t be able to distinguish it unless you held both the real and fake, and shockingly the back 8900 movement was like 90% close but of course if you have watchmaker open it, underneath it’s totally noticeable, as it’s very hard to clone and make the 8900 movement with co-axial plus the power reserve of I think it was 60 hours. Insane. Potential buyers please be careful and very very cautious, being a loop if going to a non Omega physical shop such as 3rd party resellers at brick and mortar stores, as sometimes they take in watches but they rarely but can be fooled by certain models by peeps who come to sell or trade their watches. Sorry for the long reply.

Not sure if fake or not. I would have to hold it in hand myself BUT they do make Extremely WELL made fakes now. It is terrible that the clones are getting that good. My buddy Bruce Williams (youtube channel) was sold a fake on second hand market. So it is possible.
OK watched second part and to be honest I'm not convinced it's fake the colors on the box is easy to explain if you know about the packaging production the only way to know for sure is to take it to an AD and send it off for a service.
Yes the pillow bad quality would make me vigilant as well and the different font on the date wheel. As well the differences of the box. Chinese propensity to have a nice drawing on the box is all to obvious. The bracelett is then comming out of the original factory made with the same tooling. Colour differences are most of the time clear indications of fakes. However someone must have made the movement close to the original. Some parts could be original and other frankinsteined together in several sweat shops. Some of these sweat shops may be official manufacturers of the genuine watches.
I got on eBay and it looks like a lot of the Oris Aquis watches for sale don't show up in the Oris warranty search. When you perform a warranty search and the serial number is not found, it displays a message to contact Oris. Did you contact them? Is so, what was their response?
I saw one currently for sale on eBay which had a lot of documentation from Tourneau Corner. It’s likely real, though it has some scratches and some of the lug screws look damaged. I ended up buying a new one on Joma
Same thing happened with me but my watch doesn’t seem to have any of these tell tale signs that it’s fake except the fact I bought a stainless steel one and my serial number comes up as the rubber strap version.
Probably the reason you didn't hear back from Oris is that they can't really comment on a video. Better to bring it to a retailer that specialises in the Brand. Seems to be barely any difference in the quality. If indeed it turns out to be fake, then one of the best fakes in the business if quality is virtually as good as the real thing

You can tell a fake most of the time by looking at the inside areas of the case and the bracelet, those are usually poorly finished. This is visible here on the sloppy satin work on the caseback, the lugs are also overpolished. The bracelet on the inside is also noticably less sharp in finishing and from what I see the brushing is not consistant (it goes off angle in places, not straight).
Do you think Oris could have had a few thefts of parts? Or that the bracelet is manufactured in China at the same factory? Oris wouldn’t have to make this themselves to still call the watch ‘swiss made’.

Grey market, maybe. But not fake. Undoubtedly when you looked up the serial number on Oris's site it looked up your IP address and refused to provide a return value because your address didn't match the market your watch was originally intended for.
chuckschilling could be, but I looked up several serial# from pictures of eBay and I was able to get moist of them being looked up by Myoris, even a 2004 big crown. I got my watch in the mail. eBay kicked the user off of their platform already. To my disbelief, this watch is most likely fake. The box is made form this awful cardboard, doesn't fit together very well. The glue is inconsistently applied. Inside the actual presentation box, the watch slot is misaligned, there's a pull tab that doesn't reveal anything either. This all screams fake box. I just can't find anyone who is faking these. They are coming from a CA address, so I'm wondering if it's the same people who used to fake subs and went on to make Ginaults. Very bizarre and be careful! Sorry for doubting you.
Wow, it's amazing how close they get these replicas. You know it's fake because the font is way off on the date wheel (serif instead of sans-serif), and the font on "Pressure Resistant" is normal width and should be compressed. Unbelievable how they make it so close and then screw up on the easy parts.
to tell for sure you have to check out the movement, compare it to original, it's usually dead give away and ofc macro shots, otherwise to me this guy seems like just guessing. I could see the difference between two different watches, but at first glance green one is indistinguishable from original.
The watch companies are over profiting from us for years now! and not even doing their job of protecting their product and the customer .they put no clear marks to differentiate their original from a fake watch and pricing plays a big part in that .why isn't seiko being mugged like that ? Cause they price each watch depending on design, quality and movement. and when you price things right it will be impossible for counterfeiter to profit by executing the same quality !!! This is such a shame for Oris !...I will noway buy an online Oris unless it is a fake with a price tag that matches that.
Guys don’t buy watches on secondary market if it’s not some vintage old shit for collection. EVERYTHING relatively new, especially ETA/Silita based have high-end top quality fakes. Every second deal on secondary market is a fake.
ORIS logo on the clasps are different to me. Look at the "S" in ORIS. On the real one the center of the S is more horizontal sweep with almost two radii. On the fake its more of a continuous radius from bottom of the S to the top. Because of this I would also inspect the bracelet more closely.
I recently got my Aquis 39.5 green from Jomashop... and it's 100% real. That being said if I had paid $500 for the watch you have and found out it was fake I would not be upset at all. Forgive me, that is immaculate work. It is almost worth buying the fake for the bracelet alone. It almost makes me wonder why you would want the real one when the fake is so good. I do have the real one - so I feel like I can say that, obviously I did not buy a fake. But I wonder.

This "clone" is too equal to be fake. It will be real. I'll buy it from you for a clone price. I must say the green color looks darker usually for this model. But where did you buy it? You should have shown it running to verify the movement ticking.
I have been having a hard time purchasing online. I had to immediately return watches I bought because they were replicas. I didnt return my vintage Oris pointer date I got off of etsy, from Italy, because I thought it was real. I discovered it's a replica too. I got a great deal on the Oris and it's of great quality but not real. I'd say it's still worth what I paid for it but it bothers me to wear it now. So many scams. I never thought older Oris' watches would be something people would replicate and sell at the same low price on the used market. Search those serial numbers!
I don't think they are fake either. Packaging changes every few years. My 2017 box didn't look like either of these boxes. If the movement is genuine it likely isn't fake. A SW 220 is about 200 bucks. Aquis date is 700 to 1000 pre owned. If you paid less than that then it may have been too good to be true.
Not sure if thats fake. The warranty look up may not be valid for grey market either so dont know if those will show up. I think superfakes cost as much as oris but who knows they maybe getting better at cloning for less. Best way is to take a loop for macro views. I highly doubt they are going to this depth for an oris, they dont even go to thid depth to clone $10-70k pp/rolex
These boxes could have easily been from two different production runs , this stuff happens all the time. There may have been an initial run of say, 500-5000 boxes, manuals, etc. The watch may have sold better han predicted, and another run was ordered, the card stock etc isn't going to be dead consistent. Weigh both watches. Problem solved. You're welcome.
Surley if it was a fake they would use a cheap movement not a genuine movement, that seems silly to me. If those really are Fake then they are the best fakes ever and if I had one of them I would be quite happy.
The genuine Sellita movement used by Oris is probably cheaper and easier to obtain than ETA movements the were the previous standard used by Swiss watch brands. Might cost about $100-150 so it would eat into the fakers profit margin but all they have to do is engrave the rotor to make indistinguishable from the genuine.
So I used to be into fake watches (dark times). High end reps always have poor finishing, rotating bezel is garbage, and worst of all the barreling of the screw down crown is always an immediate giveaway of a fake watch. This watch doesn't have any of those issues. Also, none of the rep watch factories are making Oris aquis. Find me where you can buy this "fake" watch.

That could be factory seconds watches with minor deviances who were rejected by Oris and did not pass quality control. They could assemble them and sell them for less.

I agree with you. This is simply batch variation. Oris is entry level "lux" watch. Cost and effort to make such AAA grade copy is just not economically justified. This is why most of the copy's are Rolexes and other more expensive brands. This simply don't make any seance.
@@EZORBOZnot true. Most parts manufacturing is contracted by oris (all swiss brands do it) to various chinese factories that build the molds etc. for the machines to make parts to swiss spec. These same factories, once able to perfectly replicate the manufacturing process, violate the contracts and sell machinery/molds etc. to those that then make fakes out of it or even do it themselves. The reason fakes have been so good recently is that most factories making fakes are legit manufacturing facilities that work/can work to swiss standards. Only a comparatively small percentage of manufacturing today is made in switzerland. I have bought a fake of this oris aquis (which is the same of this video, only 1 factory has manufactured a fake oris since demand is not that high) to compare to my real one and i paid 2300rmb which is like just over 300 dollars, crazy stuff…
Sorry but this is NOT a replica. Even the verys best Rolex imitations are nowhere near as close as this "fake" is to the gen. Lots of telltale signs, that this cannot be a fake and is probably a greymarket or Demo piece.

I just looked it up on ebay and the seller is obvious. There are 5 identical green face new Aquis on metal (4) bracelet and (1) rubber strap units that were listed as sold from 11.1.19 to 11.24.19 but the seller and the listing details have been removed. This kind of market flood makes the clone fake scenario more likely but the machining quality of the case and bracelet for a watch that sells for 1000-1500 normally (and he is selling for 600-800) blows me away. Something is weird here. That kind of effort, huge cost and and tooling investment for a watch they are retailing for 600-800 on ebay doesn't (to me) make sense. Somethings hinky here but if it's a clone it's (IMO) way too good to justify the few hundred they got for it.
I was doubtful too but I think its possible that this video highlights that the fakers are moving to a more sinister and lucrative business. They been turning out very accurate copies of Rolexs for years and selling them as $300 'Replicas' So why would they not do convincing copies of mid-range brands like Oris too and pass them off as the Real thing, selling them to the unsuspecting buyers at 50% retail price - say $700, is still a nice markup. They could even use the same relatively cheap off-the-self Selitta movements as the genuine, just engrave the rotor.

I think this guy should visit some factories where they make any kind of products. Over the years machines get some changes.

Not sure if fake or not. I would have to hold it in hand myself BUT they do make Extremely WELL made fakes now. It is terrible that the clones are getting that good. My buddy Bruce Williams (youtube channel) was sold a fake on second hand market. So it is possible.
On the green Oris, the number three in the date is not in the typical font for Aquis
OK watched second part and to be honest I'm not convinced it's fake the colors on the box is easy to explain if you know about the packaging production the only way to know for sure is to take it to an AD and send it off for a service.
or just go to the closest watch service and the guy should be able to tell you at a glance.

Yes the pillow bad quality would make me vigilant as well and the different font on the date wheel. As well the differences of the box. Chinese propensity to have a nice drawing on the box is all to obvious. The bracelett is then comming out of the original factory made with the same tooling. Colour differences are most of the time clear indications of fakes. However someone must have made the movement close to the original. Some parts could be original and other frankinsteined together in several sweat shops. Some of these sweat shops may be official manufacturers of the genuine watches.

I got on eBay and it looks like a lot of the Oris Aquis watches for sale don't show up in the Oris warranty search. When you perform a warranty search and the serial number is not found, it displays a message to contact Oris. Did you contact them? Is so, what was their response?
I saw one currently for sale on eBay which had a lot of documentation from Tourneau Corner. It’s likely real, though it has some scratches and some of the lug screws look damaged. I ended up buying a new one on Joma

Same thing happened with me but my watch doesn’t seem to have any of these tell tale signs that it’s fake except the fact I bought a stainless steel one and my serial number comes up as the rubber strap version.

Probably the reason you didn't hear back from Oris is that they can't really comment on a video. Better to bring it to a retailer that specialises in the Brand. Seems to be barely any difference in the quality. If indeed it turns out to be fake, then one of the best fakes in the business if quality is virtually as good as the real thing

You can tell a fake most of the time by looking at the inside areas of the case and the bracelet, those are usually poorly finished. This is visible here on the sloppy satin work on the caseback, the lugs are also overpolished. The bracelet on the inside is also noticably less sharp in finishing and from what I see the brushing is not consistant (it goes off angle in places, not straight).
Do you think Oris could have had a few thefts of parts? Or that the bracelet is manufactured in China at the same factory? Oris wouldn’t have to make this themselves to still call the watch ‘swiss made’.
Besides the packaging, I'm not convinced it's fake. You need to get in touch with Oris and ask them as well as show them these videos.

Grey market, maybe. But not fake. Undoubtedly when you looked up the serial number on Oris's site it looked up your IP address and refused to provide a return value because your address didn't match the market your watch was originally intended for.
chuckschilling could be, but I looked up several serial# from pictures of eBay and I was able to get moist of them being looked up by Myoris, even a 2004 big crown. I got my watch in the mail. eBay kicked the user off of their platform already. To my disbelief, this watch is most likely fake. The box is made form this awful cardboard, doesn't fit together very well. The glue is inconsistently applied. Inside the actual presentation box, the watch slot is misaligned, there's a pull tab that doesn't reveal anything either. This all screams fake box. I just can't find anyone who is faking these. They are coming from a CA address, so I'm wondering if it's the same people who used to fake subs and went on to make Ginaults. Very bizarre and be careful! Sorry for doubting you.

Wow, it's amazing how close they get these replicas. You know it's fake because the font is way off on the date wheel (serif instead of sans-serif), and the font on "Pressure Resistant" is normal width and should be compressed. Unbelievable how they make it so close and then screw up on the easy parts.
to tell for sure you have to check out the movement, compare it to original, it's usually dead give away and ofc macro shots, otherwise to me this guy seems like just guessing. I could see the difference between two different watches, but at first glance green one is indistinguishable from original.
The watch companies are over profiting from us for years now! and not even doing their job of protecting their product and the customer .they put no clear marks to differentiate their original from a fake watch and pricing plays a big part in that .why isn't seiko being mugged like that ? Cause they price each watch depending on design, quality and movement. and when you price things right it will be impossible for counterfeiter to profit by executing the same quality !!! This is such a shame for Oris !...I will noway buy an online Oris unless it is a fake with a price tag that matches that.
Guys don’t buy watches on secondary market if it’s not some vintage old shit for collection. EVERYTHING relatively new, especially ETA/Silita based have high-end top quality fakes. Every second deal on secondary market is a fake.
ORIS logo on the clasps are different to me. Look at the "S" in ORIS. On the real one the center of the S is more horizontal sweep with almost two radii. On the fake its more of a continuous radius from bottom of the S to the top. Because of this I would also inspect the bracelet more closely.

I recently got my Aquis 39.5 green from Jomashop... and it's 100% real. That being said if I had paid $500 for the watch you have and found out it was fake I would not be upset at all. Forgive me, that is immaculate work. It is almost worth buying the fake for the bracelet alone. It almost makes me wonder why you would want the real one when the fake is so good.
I do have the real one - so I feel like I can say that, obviously I did not buy a fake. But I wonder.

And I'm thinking that maybe this is done by another well known watch manufacturer , many swiss rivals for Oris at the same price point where their products are standing . Maybe someone seeking to destroy their heritage of making relatively competitive priced and well designed watches! cause Oris designwise are nailing it nowadays .

I have been having a hard time purchasing online. I had to immediately return watches I bought because they were replicas.
I didnt return my vintage Oris pointer date I got off of etsy, from Italy, because I thought it was real. I discovered it's a replica too.
I got a great deal on the Oris and it's of great quality but not real. I'd say it's still worth what I paid for it but it bothers me to wear it now.
So many scams. I never thought older Oris' watches would be something people would replicate and sell at the same low price on the used market.

I don't think they are fake either. Packaging changes every few years. My 2017 box didn't look like either of these boxes. If the movement is genuine it likely isn't fake. A SW 220 is about 200 bucks. Aquis date is 700 to 1000 pre owned. If you paid less than that then it may have been too good to be true.

I think superfakes cost as much as oris but who knows they maybe getting better at cloning for less. Best way is to take a loop for macro views.

These boxes could have easily been from two different production runs , this stuff happens all the time. There may have been an initial run of say, 500-5000 boxes, manuals, etc. The watch may have sold better han predicted, and another run was ordered, the card stock etc isn't going to be dead consistent.

Surley if it was a fake they would use a cheap movement not a genuine movement, that seems silly to me. If those really are Fake then they are the best fakes ever and if I had one of them I would be quite happy.
The genuine Sellita movement used by Oris is probably cheaper and easier to obtain than ETA movements the were the previous standard used by Swiss watch brands. Might cost about $100-150 so it would eat into the fakers profit margin but all they have to do is engrave the rotor to make indistinguishable from the genuine.
So I used to be into fake watches (dark times). High end reps always have poor finishing, rotating bezel is garbage, and worst of all the barreling of the screw down crown is always an immediate giveaway of a fake watch. This watch doesn't have any of those issues. Also, none of the rep watch factories are making Oris aquis. Find me where you can buy this "fake" watch.

I agree with you. This is simply batch variation. Oris is entry level "lux" watch. Cost and effort to make such AAA grade copy is just not economically justified. This is why most of the copy's are Rolexes and other more expensive brands. This simply don't make any seance.
@@EZORBOZnot true. Most parts manufacturing is contracted by oris (all swiss brands do it) to various chinese factories that build the molds etc. for the machines to make parts to swiss spec. These same factories, once able to perfectly replicate the manufacturing process, violate the contracts and sell machinery/molds etc. to those that then make fakes out of it or even do it themselves. The reason fakes have been so good recently is that most factories making fakes are legit manufacturing facilities that work/can work to swiss standards. Only a comparatively small percentage of manufacturing today is made in switzerland. I have bought a fake of this oris aquis (which is the same of this video, only 1 factory has manufactured a fake oris since demand is not that high) to compare to my real one and i paid 2300rmb which is like just over 300 dollars, crazy stuff…

I just looked it up on ebay and the seller is obvious. There are 5 identical green face new Aquis on metal (4) bracelet and (1) rubber strap units that were listed as sold from 11.1.19 to 11.24.19 but the seller and the listing details have been removed. This kind of market flood makes the clone fake scenario more likely but the machining quality of the case and bracelet for a watch that sells for 1000-1500 normally (and he is selling for 600-800) blows me away. Something is weird here. That kind of effort, huge cost and and tooling investment for a watch they are retailing for 600-800 on ebay doesn't (to me) make sense. Somethings hinky here but if it's a clone it's (IMO) way too good to justify the few hundred they got for it.
I was doubtful too but I think its possible that this video highlights that the fakers are moving to a more sinister and lucrative business. They been turning out very accurate copies of Rolexs for years and selling them as $300 'Replicas' So why would they not do convincing copies of mid-range brands like Oris too and pass them off as the Real thing, selling them to the unsuspecting buyers at 50% retail price - say $700, is still a nice markup. They could even use the same relatively cheap off-the-self Selitta movements as the genuine, just engrave the rotor.
Or maybe it diesnt cost much to make an aquis case
