    Your tutorials are like an Avengers Movie, long but interesting all the way along! One thing I would like to be addressed on regards to the CrispLid is the baking of some recipes that need to be previously cooked on the pressure cooker and then baked. In other words, something that is air fried directly in the pot and doesn't need the basket or trivet, like a mac & cheese, lassagna, etc. There are quite a lot of chicken wings or french fries videos on the CrispLid out there, but nothing on how to bake/air fry directly inside the stainless steel pot. Thanks!!!

    I thought the idea of a crisping lid was to finish the food in the same pot instead of using the oven. I imagined you'd be pressure cooking the wings and then putting on that lid to crisp them up. I see a post by Alberto which asks the same question I have about doing it directly in the pot. So much more to learn than I imagined. lol
    Thank you for the great review. I love that you not only gave the pros and cons, but also compared it to the Foodi and a regular air fryer. I've seen many of your videos and they are all very informative. Thanks for sharing!

    This is the best video I have ever seen on any topic. I skipped it the first time because I could not understand you because of an accent different than mine and you talk quickly. However, I wisely decided to use closed caption and am so glad I did. You covered the topic so completely that I have no future questions. I just purchased a Cuisinart 1500W 2.5 lb. AirFryer Toaster Oven. I got it
    last week. When I first started watching this video I was kinda sad that I already bought and used mine, but by the end of the video I was still OK with my purchase - no buyers remorse at all. The Mealthy Crisp lid might be good for some people, but I still like the 8.5 x 11.5 inch surface area I have. I got more that 20 wings (I don't remember exactly how many but it was more than 20). Cuisinart has a larger size Airfryer/ Toaster oven, but it is almost double the price. Because I have a small kitchen I decided to stick with the smaller version. At first I wondered if I should have spent the money on a Phillips airfryer, but after seeing this video I'm still sure I got a better value, because I have a larger surface area and because it is also a toaster oven as well. Thanks for your review.

    I just received my CrispLid. I had a beautiful piece of wild salmon and I'd heard that fish came out well in the air fryer, so I decided to try it. The Mealthy CrispLid is basically a broiler. It's well made and it was easy and intuitive to use. I think where it differs from a true air fryer is that it doesn't have the convection fan to circulate the hot air and crisp and cook the food on all sides. My fish cooked from the top down. The top browned nicely, but it took a while to cook through. The bottom did not brown. It was good, but not anything I could not have produced in my oven. That said, I think it has some good applications, especially if you don't have an oven or if it's too hot to use it.

    • @Indydi

      She said that in her review here. You have to flip your food and give it a few minutes to brown the other side.

    Thank you for your demonstration, I have your book and is excellent. I see no reason why someone who already has an instant pot, would not just go ahead and get this. Its the best of both worlds. Although I have to say, I personally would recommend to just get the Ninja Foodi, if you can afford it, and you don't have any of these other appliances. The Ninja Foodi is heavy, expensive, and very large. However, since I have it, I am yet to use the oven, my stovetop, or anything else to cook my food. As a minimalist who lives alone, all you need in my opinion is a small refrigerator and a ninja foodi.

    You've added a possibility to my cooking arsenal. I would like to see a demonstration with French fries. I put a whole package of Alexia fries in my Gourmia, set for 15 minutes at 400, toss a couple of times, and perfect! Very easy with a drawer, the Lid doesn't look that easy. Another idea is browning meat prior to pressure cooking. The pressure cooker's saute function is marginally acceptable, whereas air fryer browning works in larger batches, quicker with little or no oil. Do you think browning with the Lid first would produce a better dish faster? I know, no fond. There's always a trade. Additionally, you had mentioned ease of cleaning. What is the best method of cleaning the element housing on an air fryer? My Phillips looks like a fire hazard. Thanks for your videos. I've learned a lot!
    PS Where to buy the Lid? Amazon doesn't have it.

      The biggest advantage for me is that I can use the CrispLid on ALL my existing Instant Pots... 8Qt, 6Qt regardless of the model. The original Instant Pot Crisper ONLY worked on its own special model, and the new lid option doesn't work on all models and doesn't work on 8Qts at all. We live in an RV and space is a premium. I just started cooking with my 6 QT Instant Pot and crisping things is a challenge since my microwave/convection oven doesn't have a broiler function. Also I cook for 2 and the 8 QT IP/crisper combo is just way too big. I really appreciate your review and will look seriously at the Crisplid. With that said I have a couple questions.
    1. Have you had a chance to see if a lower trivet would allow the wings to crisp more evenly? I'm wondering if the heat of the Crisplid be a bit less intense on the top and the heat transfer to the bottom of the pot balance things out.
    2. How difficult is it to clean the bottom of the Crisplid from any splatter?

    Hi there... thank you for your video. I just purchased the instant pot duo plus 6 q for my Mom's birthday next week. But she always wanted a fryer. I liked this option, because you can get an air fryer lid - better on space etc. So I hope I made the right choice. Thus one option is the Mealthy and the other option is the Instant Pot lid (that only goes to 400). I don't know which one would be better. The Instant pot lid is larger, but it has a bottom to protect it in storage - the basket is deeper - but as you say - likely only for certain recipes. As for washing and cleaning all these things - I am a bit worried. Question, will you be reviewing the Instant pot version in comparison? Maybe I should wait before I buy. Many thanks - you have a very nice UA-cam style!

    I did research as I was interested in the Mealthy CrispLid but had questions first. I chatted, emailed Instant Pot Support. Using the Mealthy Crisplid will void the warranty on the Instant Pot. The Instant Pot customer support that I spoke to does not recommend that the Mealthy CrispLid be used in it. The testing has not been done on the Instant Pot with the Mealthy CrispLid so don't know how it would affect the Instant Pot wiring (dry heat may make wiring brittle).

      @junezalukmoore 5 років тому +4

      @@smmc13 It has not been tested. in addition, I chatted with Mealthy support with this question: The CrispLid can be used 450 for 20 minutes then shut off for 10 minutes so it doesn't overheat. I would like to know if the wiring in the Instant Pot can withstand the dry heat for that period of time. Will the plastic become brittle? I'm waiting for an answer.

      @@junezalukmoore That i the same concern I had. But on the other hand, dead IP bases just found a new use, lol. You could even pressure cook in the good IP, then lift and transfer the inner pot and its contents to the dead base, and slap the CrispLid on it. lol

      @danielt6689 5 років тому

      Great point to consider. One possible option is to remove the inner pot from the IP and use that alone with the CrispLid on a heat safe surface. Of course there is the issue of heat loss through the slides, but it still may work. Another option is if it will work with just a pot.

    Could you please check, does the aerosolized grease created inside while air frying accumulate underneath the IP liner, between that and the housing of the IP? That is my biggest complaint with my Power XL traditional air fryer. Grease gets everywhere inside and underneath. It even seeps out the bottom vent slots and gets grease on the counter. Thank you!

    Appreciate this video. I only recently discovered the Mealthy Lid when starting to check out air fryers. The only reason I started checking Air Fryers was because I say a fellow do some really nice, and quick kale chips. We like them, but all other methods have taken forever and been, meh. I also like the idea of browning/crisping food after it's been pressure cooked in the Instant Pot. We love our IP and don't really have the room for another table top appliance the size of a decent air fryer. Plus, a decent air fryer costs more than the Mealthy Lid. Looks like I can do a lot more with it.

    Hi thank you for your great reviews, I like your style!. I am in the UK. I'm looking at buying a multi cooker for the first time. I have a small space, so it needs to be compact, and solar electricity in the day, so it needs to be as low wattage as possible, and as flexible as possible on time delays etc. I want a cooker that will pressure cook, and slo cook, that I can divide into two (I have meat eaters and veggies!) and can cook fruit, jam, and veg for bottling, and also if possible bake / rise bread and cakes and dehydrate. I also want to get one that will fit this great CRISP LID so I can occasionally do fries! I have gone round in circles a bit with my research and have just found your awesome reviews so I thought I would ask you! I hope you don't mind. Thank you.

    Not all air fryers are the same. They vary in volume of air and max temp. Some such as this crisp lid and ninja grill can go has high as 450 or 500 f while most only reach 400 f. Some very large units have trouble maintaining their set temp. There IS a difference in speed and consistency between units.
