    I had this cold stall problem with my 2008 fit. I tried switching my spark plugs, egr valve, cleaning the throttle body, and nothing worked. I searched Honda fit cold start stall on UA-cam and found several of these videos saying it’s a valve adjustment issue. I took my car to the dealership and asked them to do a valve adjustment.
    They insisted I had a bigger problem, they think it’s my torque converter blah blah blah it’s gonna cost me $2400. But I insisted they just do the valve adjustment and now my car is running perfectly. Purrs like a kitten. The car doesn’t shake anymore, doesn’t stall, and doesn’t smell like gas anymore.
    Thank you for making these vids. You saved me a lot of money.

      I'm having the exact same problem that you had? So, do I need to have a valve adjustment done or is it the coil packs, or is it both? I just don't want to go waist a ton of money on something that doesn't need to be done.

      @@jcolt84 if it’s just stalling when cold, then you just need the valve adjustment. I recommend taking it to a Honda dealer as the have all the right specs. Don’t let them tell you it’s something else. Just have the valve adjustment done. If your spark plugs are old. Change em. Just the valve adjustment cost me $340 CAN.
      If it’s your coils going, you will get more of hiccuping in the engine while idling. If the coil goes completely, you’ll get a flashing engine light. Hope this helps. I had the valve adjustment done about 40000kms ago and it’s still running better than ever.

      @@mistacarta1906 no, it hesitates sometimes even when the engine is warm. I kind of think it feels underpowered that time's also. It sounds like I need a valve adjustment like you said. Thanks!

      Any idea what my issue could be?
      I had the valve adjustment, valve springs replaced, tried different coil packs and still im getting a idle issue after the car (2009 fit) warms up, like 30-40 min of driving. I do feel a shaking at higher speeds. I replaced the entire front end suspension and still it's doing the shaking and idle issue. Doesn't throw any codes...
      The issue started as a flashing engine light stall a year ago, now progressed to idle stall. I'm serious stuck. I've already thrown 3-4k into a car that I paid 5k for.... 128k miles rn.

    I'm having the exact same problem and this video has helped me figure out the solution! Now, I don't have any check engine lights on, but the car hesitates sometimes as if the engine is cold. Thank you so much for this video!

    Just did the same thing on my wife’s 2009 Kia Rio. Ran rough and had misfire codes. Replaced all four plugs and coils. Ran smooth as silk afterwards. Only difference is I put a dab of anti-seize on the new plugs. And I used a really long, magnetized socket to R & R the plugs. Those puppies are really buried inside the engine.

    omg ! my honda jazz 2011 went down on me whilst i was driving (20mph or so luckily) after getting it recovered the recovery guy told me it was the timing chain ! i was getting ready to replace this ! , i have already done a full service on it and was left scratching my head over a crank no start and my 3rd coil pack was the same ! it was much more worse for wear then the others - i think before i do my timing chain i will try this !!!

    replaced a coil pack but it definitely had a misfire code for that cylinder. I don't think the plugs need to be gapped. I was under the impression all the iridium plugs were pre-gapped.

    I opened my hood removed the 1st coil and it was cracked in half I removed it and replaced it with one from autozone and the check engine went away. I wonder what caused it to break.

      @@mg8718 Be careful with fraudalent "geniune" or "oem" parts and be cheap with anything that ain't electrical. These coils need to hold quite a bit of charge for the spark plugs to disperse. So I would be cautious, especially on Amazon or eBay. Rockauto is a solid option.

      Genuine honda parts are expensive. Alternatives are good and reputable brands like Botsch. If you have your car manual read about the replacement guidelines. My manual helped me a lot when it comes down to buying replacement parts.

    Really cool video 👍 and I'm not saying you got lucky on the diagnosis being right the first time, but my daughter had a Toyota Camry with the same issue, and it ended up being a massive vacuum leak 🤔 even though I was sure it was electrical..

      I'm having the same exact problem as the car in this video with my 08 Honda Fit, except my check engine light is t on. Some people are recommending that I do what you did in this video, and others claim that a valve adjustment would fix the problem. Who's right? Or, do I need to do both?

    I have a 2007 honda fit it has 70k milage and I had the same problem a year ago cylinder 2 misfire. I took it mechanic and the cylinder 2 coil was just look like your bad coil. So the coil and all the spark plug replaced and the car is running fine but problem is the check engine sign come on and off last 1 year and it is the same code cylinder 2 misfire. Do you have any idea how to fix that check engine light for the problem that has been fixed?

    • @icyborg6065
      @icyborg6065 Рік тому

      have an auto parts store to read the code if the check engine is on. The code reading will pin point to the problem. The tip of the spark plug has to be calibrated accordingly, they have a tool that looks like a dollar silver coin. After the findings of the OBDC codes you can talk to your fav mechanic to do the calibration.

    I am not a fan of those coil packs etc nor the side ways engines. I like the old 6 cylinder engines. Much easier to work on. Great video, thanks for sharing. Your garage is to neat. I can send you some clutter, just let me know.

    • @thromboid
      @thromboid 2 роки тому +1

      Interesting to know that they have a reputation for eating coils. To answer JWB671: replace coils when they fail (but replace spark plugs on schedule to avoid stressing the coils). My 2006 Fit has the extra complication (and expense!) of dual plugs/coils per cylinder, and the plugs are plain old copper, so you can bet I'll be changing those on time! Bad plugs can also cause voltage spikes on the crankshaft position signal, which can mess up ignition timing.

      do you have check engine light on? does it come on or it is flashing or it is just on. I would take it to an auto parts store, they can read the codes, the codes will pin point your problems. If your honda it is the first generation and like 2007 and on, most likely it needs a tune up. New Spark plugs and coils.
