    Two things I forgot to mention:
    1) In Offensive Mode you can only cap inside the strongpoint but even then, taking control of the surrounding area is still extremely important
    2) Cap rate can't be slowed or sped up, so the whole concept of "Let's get people on the point" to stop the capture without an actual attempt at removing the enemy's ability to attack is just silly.

      You can write that on top of the video. UA-cam let's you place stuff on top of it. Is ugly yes but this two things you forgot are extremely important, mostly the second one
      actually the silly is "they are caping! Lets all move inside their SP to cap faster then them"

      @@monoespacial No problem! Btw, right after watching your video, I got into the best squad ever in Hill 400. I played support and accompanied my squad leader (SL) to setup outposts and backup outpost as you suggested (this was priority for him, along with set up of notes). If I had to redeploy, he will first set up an outpost so I can spawn and send down supplies for outposts. The rest of the squad took up overwatch positions, made calls, pinged, gave covering fire and followed SL orders to the letter (no Rambos, except for the designated point man). The SL also coordinated with Command and another squad who made flanking maneuvers (both were equally competent). We built nodes and defended strong points until the main force advanced and once the next strong point on the map was captured (and the old strong point we were defending became uncapturable) the SL will then order us to redeploy to new positions and leave enemy survivors at the old site since they can't do anything because the strong point was uncapturable (no wasting of time fighting pointless engagements). IT WAS THE BEST GAME I'VE EVER PLAYED.

    Good man. Helping new players to understand this will be crucial to winning games. Too many times the commander starts screaming to squad leaders that all the garrisons are down. Make sure you place your garrisons intelligently like Mono has specified. This is the single most important thing to do to win games.....especailly on Hurtgen Forest.

    • @monoespacial
      @monoespacial  4 роки тому

      Replacing lost garrisons is also super important. It should be every team's no1 priority.

  • @burnpluto
    @burnpluto 4 роки тому +5

    I am a new player and have lost many games because of this exact reason. I always trusted my more experienced team mates. But I did never understand why they just camp in the point. It's ridiculous because you get fucked in the ass from alle directions. And after the point is taken, often the next point is already being captured. I realise now even experienced players don't know how to play this game. Thanks for the video explaining this.

    • @monoespacial
      @monoespacial  4 роки тому

      Yes, unfortunately there is a widespread lack of garrisons being built in all matches which forces players to only cover very specific areas of the map.

    • @buckson
      @buckson 2 місяці тому

      Its not camping it's called defense and that happens because no one does it. You can't go on their alone and everyone push out, get avoided then kills you. The problem with this game is people think their way IS the way based on nothing. It's an opinion. Its simple math they can attack all they want if you defend the don't win they can't take the point of they can't kill you. Running around isn't a plan you're a easy target especially for one in a good conversation concealed position looking at you, this is basic combat and playing such a game and being ignorant to these simple things are the issue not this lol

    Exception: North Pass
    North pass has a bridge, if you place before it youre in big trouble. Place a Garrison there, get your people go all the way around and some from the hill to push them out

  • @saloonno1232
    @saloonno1232 4 роки тому +2

    I agree with most of what you are saying. You do need to meet the enemy, and destroy their OPs and Garrisons. However, you do need a squad or two to defend the strong point while other squads flank the enemy. You gain more capping power on a strong point. If all the squads leave the defense strong point, and attack, the enemy tends to flank around-capturing the position. The problem with Hella loose right now is that not a lot of squads work well together. It’s rare when you get that kind of teamwork to support both a defense and advance. Great vid!

    • @monoespacial
      @monoespacial  4 роки тому +1

      I agree defense of the strongpoint is needed, but those squads playing defense need to roam around and detect/takeout enemies before they become a problem. If you're just sitting on the SP then you allow them to set up around you, take your garrisons or outpost outside the point, if any, and then you get overrun no matter how good you defend.
      I agree communication is a problem, just like it is in any team based game, but the single biggest problem in public matches is squads not building garrisons. I've seen a lot of matches where we have only one garrison in the entire map. I wish there was a tooltip saying "your team doesn't have enough garrisons, build more" if you have less then 3-4 garrisons

    Understanding intuitive garrison placement was a game changer for me. The more disseminated this information becomes amongst the general player base, the less of a ridiculous advantage that stacked clan teams will seem to have anymore. Map control is just so nebulously communicated by the game at this moment.
    Nice work on the vid! Do you think the devs recognize problems with how map control is currently communicated, or do you think they will at least add more visual information as to which squares on the map count towards the sector?

    • @monoespacial
      @monoespacial  4 роки тому +1

      I don't know what the Devs intend to do, to be honest. I do think they need to create better tutorials for the game but that's probably a ways off since the way things work right now will probably change over time. I think a quick fix would be to indicate more clearly on the minimap how this works, like you said.

    Been playing this for a while now. I in the beginning I have always thought if you stand in the strong point the better capture rate you have. I would always try to put a garry down. But when people started to get a little smarter about arty then my mind set changed. What i mainly do with my garrys is try to put it down from flanking positions. Would show that enemy near and yes they might get it but we can always put down more supplies and stop that flank. Other than that i 100% agree with map control. Great video keep em coming.

Unexperienced Officers and Commanders whose favorite sentence is " get into the point", you end up just getting surrounded from all angles and its not a fun experience. While collecting inside the point, you either Keep or Lose that point. If defending, being inside the Point can relive the pressure of having your defenses gone completely. There is SOME enemy inside that perimeter. Your team counts as three times that of the enemy in defense. The enemy is not spawning inside for long if you keep your point. That will destroy their attack. Then clean up is required. If OFESIVE play. That would be the only thing to do.
    Warfare mode. Same thing. The job isn't done when you get the new objective. Enemy within ad enemy without. Sweep and clear. Will all 50 players be inside. I haven't seen that yet. Some are still on their way to the party ( Both modes) And there is usually more than one garrie spewing troops out. I get my squads on the Point. We can deal with the rest after contested. Those enemy garries will be delt with. They are a timed dispensed and they are better seen when large numbers come out. In Offensive mode, defending, the enemy are probably gathered close to wire. But, I have yet to see that in my play time. Offense/Defense in either Warfare or Offensive modes have their separate tactics. Both sides are stretched out searching anyway.
    I believe what you are speaking about applies more to Offensive mode. Yet, my thoughts are to jump on the Point and see what happens. After all, the offense probably has no OPs inside the point at the beginning. If they do forget about going outside the wire to look for them.
    Place garrie s in and out of strong point. Nothing is wrong OPs inside. Support garries are needed.
    Good points and have to expand on subject.

    Great video, only point i would like to make is, the music. Even though i generally enjoy the style its a bit to distracting. I would rather have no music or a much lower sound with different type of music.

    I believe they updated the game so now you have to hold F on garis in order to take them down. Makes defending a bit easier

    Dam good vid Sir. Do you have one on effective radius of supplies? And other structures which have a radius effect? Whether they impede other structures etc?

    • @monoespacial
      @monoespacial  4 роки тому +1

      Supplies have a radius of 50m and anything that needs them can be built within that radius (AT guns, garrisons). You can't seem to build 2 garrisons with one set of supplies though! Structures can be built pretty close to one another.

    • @vicmcquire9077
      @vicmcquire9077 4 роки тому

      @@monoespacial i'm presuming that 2 Garrison points have to be 150m away from each other, therefore you'll never be able to do it from 1 supply? ANyhoo, thank you for the reply, really appreciate it.

    Problem also , most newer players come from other FPS games like COD and BF. They bring that mentality into HLL as well as bring the same tactics and “skill” and they’ll involuntarily sabotage their team. That’s how crazy teamwork is important in HLL. Flexing KD don’t work in HLL.

    Again I think a lot of this comes back to Team 17 needs to put a basic tutorial/firing range in the game like Post Scriptum. They expect the player to just learn some advanced concepts from a game that is essentially the more realistic Battlefield. It's the same as people being obsessed with killing which really doesn't score points to say dropping supplies or building a node.

    with garrison placement i always try to get 3 down on the offensive mode, one in strong point, one behind somewhere then a defensive one in front of it

      That is true.however, I play as commander a lot as, is and used to position a triple garri placement around the point with a 4th one in the center as a proximity beacon. However, as the uploader pointed out, this inherently spawns new players and inexperienced squadleads directly in the center, and not on any of the tri-position garris So i stopped asking for the center one. Key is to order your squadleads to pour in infantry from those garris to the sp.

    Good information and nicely put together. However sometimes peoples will to have fun is higher than the will to "win". Running around clearing garrisons is good, but I find it to get boring in the long run. Fighting in the middle where all the action is, is a blast! Deleting garrisons, to use your own analogy with the submarine is like bombing the harbour instead of attacking the enemy submarine. Yea it's smart and wins wars, but is it fun?
    I know they are constantly reworking the garrison system, and I hope to see further changes in the future. Somehow it should be so that your team can spawn in areas you control, not where a sneaky commander runs solo and drops a garrison behind everyone.

      People forget or don't know that playing defense, replacing lost garrisons and hunting down squads attempting to attack, shutting down enemy airheads and properly flanking the enemy leads to a whole lot of combat that's not just a meat-grinder.
      Players complain they just run and get shot all the time, which is exactly what happens when you go head-on against the enemy.
      So, I'd correct what you said about people wanting fun as the reason why they don't engage in that other playstyle. It's not that they're seeking more fun, it's that they aren't giving a single thought to what's going on, the tactics, the objectives, the meta or pretty much anything that requires a moderate amount of thought to fuel your gameplay decisions. They just see a red ball on their hud and go straight towards it-

    I should point out to casuals from someone who plays this game like an actual military would. The entire point of why Hell Let Looses works with capturing is because it's supposed to work with flanking and maneuvering to achieve your objective rather than using straight brute force. The problem is that I've seen too many games where the officers don't do their jobs because they do not understand the power that officers have. All officers can talk to each other regardless of distance while the others can only talk within their own squads or in the range of distance. The command has two jobs and I find that they only do half of it. Your job is to make sure your army has resources to get supplies and support to where it's needed while also making sure to direct the intent of battle. I find that the commander as a hard time doing the latter and thus the local squad commanders are usually left in charge of their own units to direct their squads. So instead of getting proper flanking and maneuvering, you typically see very little if at all while each squad will get tactical but have no help between squads with leaves to brute force attacks. I've only been in one match where the Commanders and Squad leaders had their shit together and were working in sync perfectly and we destroyed the enemy. Most CoD players come into this game and play it like CoD just to get sniped and bitch about it. I find Battlefield players tend to work within squads as I said. Hell Let Loose was designed with the idea of a RTS game but done in FPS. Players who play this game with "the RTS mindset" tend to be the best officers.
