I have used power level 0 to conserve range (switch between level zero and level 1). Also if you are riding together with a group (some without e-bikes) you may want to use power 0 some of the time so you stay together. Nice to hear that is easy to ride in level 0, some e-bikes are not.
FindMy only works with Apple devices. I’m hoping to do a dedicated video about this soon, or at least integrate it into another video. I will touch on this if I am able.
Yeah I have a Aostirmotor S07b and it's a bear to peddle in 0. So far never had too use it but I guarantee I'd be walking it up any hill lol. I'm gonna Purchase a Discover 2 very soon hopefully.
I Just purchased 2 a large and a regular for my wife and we love them. Plus we got the same color love the Pine Green. We had 2 Aventon Aventure fat tire but they where getting to heavy for us so we heard about the Velotric Discover 2 and I was just blown away with all the features. Great review on this ebike because they are one of the best on the market for a commuter ebike.
i’ve been looking to upgrade my hey bike race max for a while now, i’m glad i held off! i this bike has double the range of my current, it’s got good brakes, it can go fast as hell, PLUS the tires are the same size as my current so i can still use the snow tires i bought. it’s everything i’m looking for!
My Mokwheel Asphalt ST is only 60lbs with battery. I can easily carry two behind my Honda Accord 4cyl after removing battery. I used to have Velotric Discover 1 and it was to heavy. I don’t even notice a difference carry the Mokwheel. I sometimes forget they’re back there. The bike rack is a Kuat.
That’s understandable that you like your bike. That’s why there are so many different options for everyone. I’ve tested a couple Mokwheel e-bikes. Can’t say they stand up to the quality of this one.
Nice review here. I do have a couple comments though. I notice no mirror on the left side. You may have a helmet mirror I don't know, but the very first add on I would purchase is a mirror. Those cars come up on ya pretty quick and I like to look in the mirror and check if they're scootching over a bit. And also as for the flashing back light I would always have that flashing because it's good for giving advance notice to those fast approaching cars that your there. I might add a smaller flashing red one as well. I have also noticed a couple reviewers when peddling the handlebars are jumping around left and right pretty bad.Usually when climbing hills. I'm not sure that's good..
Thank you! I review 20-30 ebikes a year. I don’t put mirrors on every one, but yes, I do have a mirror on my helmet, a flashing light on the back of that, and a camera that captures everything I’m doing. As far as hills, I haven’t experienced any issues. The bike is pretty solid.
I have a question, I was reading in the manual and it mentions the battery comes in a dormant state and just need to plug it in the activate it or unlock the battery and press the button. Is there a way to out the battery into dormant mode? It could be a good security feature if you have the battery key to remove it to turn it on and off.
Randy - I am ready to buy the Velotric 2. Its probably the best commuter EBike you can get today. Do you know how long the shipping is once you place an order??? I want to buy it today, but not if the shipping is a month or more, which seems to be the average wait time. Is there a way to call or email someone at Velotric to find out?
Do the 15 different Pas settings allow it to be a torque sensor with the ease of a cadence? Torque is superior but sometimes I just wanna cruise with little effort
That’s why my preference is a torque sensor with a throttle! I prefer the fine control a torque sensor provides (the current-based PAS on some cadence sensor bikes doesn’t compare, though that is better than a speed-based PAS most cadence sensor e-bikes use), plus I can use the throttle when I need the bike to do most of the work. Even better if the bike’s software allows it to interpret the torque sensor output as an on/off signal (like a cadence sensor) for when I’m too fatigued or tweaked a knee. To my knowledge, only Juiced and Euphree (on their new Stellar Falcon model) do this. Seems to me there is at least one more, but their name escapes me.
Thank you! The color is very slick. That’s kind of where Velotric stands out in my opinion. This bike is amazing, if you’re a pedaler. 😂 I’m starting to think I’m not, but I need the exercise.
To have no worries if it might rain, is a nice feeling. It can happen at anytime in some places. It’s relatively dry here in the summer. This spring has been pretty rainy.
@@BlazeTomBay I wasn’t trying to be funny, but I guess it kinda is. I went and weighed it right after this comment. 😂 While 70ish lbs is a lot, it doesn’t really matter too much. Most ebike racks can handle that weight no problem. It’s not awkward or anything or I would’ve mentioned it in my review. But again, this was NOT a full review. Just the first impressions.
All e bikes are heavy but this is a value model with a hub drive and large battery. Bikes with those features are heavy. Overall this is an excellent value.

Does Find My work on a non Apple Device? Do you need to change a battery periodically for Find My to work?

One fall at 20 mph, dog attack. Most as you described maneuvering at low speed. Islands at crosswalks my nemesis.
is there a lockout or something to help prevent someone from jumping on the bike and driving off?

I saw a video where the UA-camr immersed the bike in water for five minutes. It ran ok after a drip dry.
Yep saw that too

The last I’ve heard is that they have all colors in stock at their U.S. warehouse, so you should get it in less than a week.
Velotric’s site says the Discover 2 is 63 lbs. They do not clarify whether that weight is including the battery or not.
I weighed it with the battery. The Large version is 69 pounds.
What is the weight capacity for this bike?
440 lbs
Great job!
Thanks!
Randy, any buzz on a Nomad 2 intro (with torque sensor)?
Do the 15 different Pas settings allow it to be a torque sensor with the ease of a cadence? Torque is superior but sometimes I just wanna cruise with little effort
Yeah it has a lot of different options for power. You can easily cruise around.
@@RandyRides perfect, gonna order one up. Thanks for the video

What's this stuff about the so called "death wobble" seemingly common to step thru ebikes or is is just internet krap
Nice bike. Have u ever reviewed a Radpower city 5 plus?😊
Nope never reviewed any RadPower bike, but I would love to compare. Maybe one day. 🤷🏼♂️
Heybikes are just too ugly
Looks like a fantastic bike, but $1699.00 four months ago, now $1899.00
Yep, prices are going up.
What phone holder is that you have on this bike?

Does anyone know if Ortlieb brand panniers fit the Discover 2 rack? Thanx

@@RandyRides ..ha ha ha....I am getting ready to add an 80T front ring to Betty...I will see if I have strong legs... ha ha ha
Hi I have the Discovery 1 and I liked it at the yellow banana and I don't know what the discovery 2 bike is cuz I have the discovery one
The hill nearly killed it... 8%
It was close. I usually cut it off at 5mph.
Can I buy this bike in Germany? With German language?
is this a 29 ?
27.5
Ha ha ha...Washington machine the battery....waterproof is nice

Can’t see display with polarized glasses.
Yeah that might an important factor for some. I wear prescription glasses, that are not polarized.
Can't see most displays with polarized lens
Pretty soon u will need a bigger garage....🤔🤣😂
It’s looking that way 😂
Look before you leap.

Nobody is talking about how heavy this is. Not even Velotric will say. It’s over 70lbs.
It’s actually 69 lbs.
