We were greeted by some gusty winds and heavy rain on our arrival into a grim-looking UK. It certainly made for contrast to the weather in Spain. Up front on the flightdeck today were three captains, one in the jumpseat behind. We were informed by the crew of the weather, and some bumpy conditions lead to the seatbelt signs being on for much of the descent. As we hit the brunt of the weather, people became very emotional. Screaming and crying filled the cabin, as well as some strong language, for which I can only apologise. Nonetheless, full praise to the entire crew especially the purser, who did an amazing job keeping people calm. The second attempt was just as unstable, and as you can see, the experience of the captains upfront shone through. An excellent landing, despite the weather, came to the relief of everyone on board.
A very big well done to the entire crew of this flight!

2 for 1 landings are free of charge. Love it!
Ironic, most people clap when leaving Leeds.
Hopefully never to return! 😃
Mike Saunders ahaha yeh it is awful up there really windy
😂😂
I did last time 😂
ooooo🥵
I would feel like I was born again with a whole new perspective on life, the universe and everything stepping off that bird in one piece and unscathed, excellent video 😃👍
The most unstable approach I've ever experienced was August '83 while coming into land at Heathrow from Amsterdam. The weather was identical to your video. I'd never had such a rough ride as that one. My father flew into Leeds on a BMA Shorts 360 from LHR in the early 80s. The plane ride was so rough he went to the bar after arriving.
Wow that was some landing, absolutely brilliant job landing it in those conditions the second time. Really well captured man!
Indeed, the weather was horrible - some very talented pilots we had upfront, their experience really shone through. Thanks!
What an amazing landing, kudos to the captain.
There's something very amazing about this. Well captured
5:36 Johnny Vegas realises he’s going round again!
Seigneur De Merde ???
It’s just a joke. That man sounded like Johnny Vegas.
monkeeeeeee!
Holy shit 😂
excellent flying here. Really well done, and great call on the go around.
This one had me in stitches, best go around moment I've seen, ever.
Excellent video. Thanks for sharing
Well captured, looks like a very nerve jangling experience! Subscribed :)
That was a very good landing for the those conditions at LBA
THAT was some good chop. No surprise with the CV's near the approach.Great skills in getting her on the ground.
I never hear the flap actuators as well as you got them on this clip. Yep I'm a real 737 nerd.
"The 2 for 1 landing is free of charge" LOL
great video! that was really last second ;) liked and subscribed!
Bloody hell, terrible weather! Great landing second time around, really good video!
Wow you can VERY clearly hear that draft! The plane is fighting it hard. Nerves of steel the pilot!
Finally seeing people not clap too early after landing
I’m scared stiff of flying but continue to torture myself watching these videos! Why? Lol
funny me too, im terrified, have not flown in 16 yrs, why am i watching this :(
Because the worst things that can happen to you is falling out of your chair.
Over 10 Million to 1 chance of dying on a flight in Europe on average
@@jazzlover9050 Actually 10 Million to 1 chance of dying on average in Europe over the last 10 or 20 years per flight - About 200 Million to 1 chance of dying on a flight in the US based on stats since 2002!
flying is very very safe statistically speaking, also the idea of a go-around scares people but really it's when the pilot forces a landing that isn't right refusing to go-around that is the real danger. I've never had a go-around on any of the flights I've been on, kind of wish I would, a little extra time in the air. :)
Beautiful aircraft!
Nice landing job. High speed. High winds. Wow.
I have never seen thunderstorm clouds that dark ever and I can only listen to the fear in the voices of the passengers and children as you got close to touchdown luckily the pilot said FUCK THIS IM GOING AROUND
Must have been really uncomfortable, but I guess you were lucky to experience this! ;)
Yep, must have been the only person smiling haha :)
Congratulations! SUPERB video! UA-cam is full of misleading video titles with :scary landing" or "extreme" etc. Hardly. Yours captures it all! FULL ACTION! Thanks for sharing!
Good view from the country when in the sky
LUV A CLASSIC!!!
that was some heavy duty braking at the end...
Go arounds are amazing aren’t they?
I remember about 10 year ago I was coming from Magaluf to Newcastle and the landing was similar to this. I honest thought I was a goner. I don’t know how people enjoy flying
very well filmed! :-)
Thanks! ;)
good capture
Thought it was some stupid catchy title but indeed it was a last second high adrenaline go around. Thumbs up for a good aircraft
Jet2 are amazing
Man that was scary watching sat in my chair at home, great video mate : ) I subbed too !
Thanks, I've subbed back too! Yeah, its quite scary isn't it, those winds were horrendous. Glad you enjoyed it ;)
Thumbs up from me guys.... Well done
I already have a huge fear of flying. If I was on that plane I probably would've screamed lol
I find it really funny how everyone claps when they land. They did this when i had a landing at Leeds just like this where we had to go around because of the wind.
Beautiful video! I'd love to fly on a 737-300! Liked and subbed :)
Thanks, subbed back! The 737-300s are great little workhorses, shame we'll not see them much longer ;)
Something similar happened on my flight from Leeds to Paris; the plane suddenly banked up and startled everyone on board. Then we had to go back to the queue to wait for another opportunity to land!
Almost a full-stop landing! That first one was scary. You were very low and I didn't see much of a runway, but a lot of grass! That was a veteran purser. She had probably been through several dozen rough landings.
Very good video
All part of the fun!
My god I’d have been peeing myself if I was on that! I love landings and windy conditions but not as bad as that... that gust of wind at 5.15 was a killer - must have been a very strong gusty crosswind and I’m sure at around the same time when the plane sped up on approach it must have been due to a tailwind... if I was right, variable gusts as strong as that... well the captain deserved every clap he got. Sensational!
He definitely did ;)
Nice vid
5:15 was the clincher!
I’d never got on a plane again after this. Ptsd just watching it
Great video and a very nice channel! You have a new subscriber. :)
Thanks very much! ;)
Very nice
Thanks - glad you liked it ;)
+TravelTenerife thanks for subbing. Subbed back
I find it hard to believe that the passengers were screaming and crying lol.
@udntneed2know Because there is no need, they are in zero danger.
We went through a horrific patch of weather landing in NYC, a lady was sick behind me from us moving around so much. I cried when I got off the plane 😭
Leeds Bradford is murder for cross winds. After the second TOGA you would be thinking divert
Clapping when landing is so strange. Its a direct link to the fear of a crash landing.
I like these guys...they held their anxious appause until the aircraft was nearly stopped and fully under control. Lol That what I do! 😐
Fun!
Shame to see G-CELR scrapped now. Stored in November of 2016. Everytime a 737-800 comes in, Jet2 sends a 737-300 to the scrapper. I've been on the oldest aircraft in the fleet, G-CELA, and G-CELI. Both great planes. Sill have life in them!
It’s a shame what happened to G-CELA and G-CELI, along with the rest of Jet2’s retired 737-300s, as both have now been fully scrapped at Kemble. G-CELI had two consecutive depressurisation issues in 2017, which engineers unfortunately could not fix. This led to her early retirement.
@@aviationlba747 video on my channel about what happened to CELI if you wanna check it out
@@aviationlba747My family went to Malaga earlier this month, both flights to and from LBA were operated by 737-300s. G-GDFT on the way there and G-GDFO on the trip home.
wow what a sense of humour the flight attendant had when she said the landing 2 for 1 are free of charge now you don't get many like that these days
Definitely don't very rare to come across
I had one flying from Leeds to Malaga, nearly made me piss myself from laughing haha
Sometimes, all you can do is give it full power and get the airspeed back up so the flight controls become effective as you climb out to try it again.
that' why you cannot be afraid to go-around, or be mad at the pilot when he chooses a go-around.
0:03 Pull up?
I have experienced my first go around only three months ago.
Had the lucky opportunity to have 2 touch and go attempts at Leeds before finally landing 3rd attempt using the full runway
looks like ~5:15-5:19 just as a/c was about @ threshold they hit a little gust pocket just before (intended) TD happens time to time in choppy weather ... good go around that's what they're for :) thx for video
How many go arounds are you gonna end up filming haha! Nice video indeed!!
I know, just my luck aha - Thanks mate, appreciated!
TravelTenerife probably he gives the pilots some money for another round ;)
Leeds is notorious for rough weather we had very bad landing in Leeds from feurtaventura last year .
A routine landing at Leeds Bradford.
this area is notorious for windy conditions.
i take it the weather was very windy on the first attempt at landing and also on the second
interesting how these noisy passengers got so quiet when the captain had to perform a second approach and listen to that applause.....
wow, typical Leeds!!
I live here and we have the windiest airport in the world
Thomas Roberts It's the windiest in the UK, not the world.
birmingham?
Northern Air Spotter True, but I remember reading somewhere it was Leeds but you could be right.
Birmingham airport is 104m above sea level. Leeds Bradford is 208m above sea level. Not conclusive about which is windiest but fairly indicative.
If the safety parameters on the flight deck are exceeded then a go around is standard procedure. Crew will reconfigure before landing safely. Go rounds feel scary but at all times you're in safe hands.
I never knew brakes sounded this good before woe
LBA has a pretty average length runway but tends to get alot of crosswind duw to the runway position, also when landing runway32 like in this vid the touchdown zone is set at the highest part of the runway, miss it and u go into a float landing late, so in bad weather can be a handful.
I bet the cockpit was a little funky after that .
looks like some windshear at the last second destabilized the plane. i know how it feels
Funniest thing is I was probably on that exact flight
Well, that look scary
Exciting you mean!
used for my website,cheers
The footage is amazing, and i have to say i actually like a turbulent ride, BUT i felt your pain on this occasion. do you think their would of been some underwear changes after this flight i wonder. Big thumbs up, have subbed, and thanks for sharing.
Yeah, I definitely think there were a few underwear changes indeed :) Thanks
+TravelTenerife nice video
+The english Planespotter I was also on this flight
+The english Planespotter Thanks - quite a bumpy ride on the way in then wasn't it
Yes it was
Imagine Ryanair
I know regret it!
50 - 40 - 30 - 0.
Probably the best safety record in Europe 🙄
@@page938 Exactly. People don’t half exaggerate.
leeds airport is the highest in england at 644 ft above sea level or something like that
Dammit Bristol is 623ft
I believe it is 681ft.
Stormy approaches and takeoffs....first thing I think about is windshear.
12:10 Pretty loud braking, if that's what I'm hearing. Please tell me, is the -3QC another 737 variant ? This aeroplane does not have winglets so I am only guessing they came out around the time of the -400s etc.
Actually the first version with CFM engines - If you want, it`s a - 300 QC (Quick Change) so the first version that came after the - 200 - The wing still looks 200 ish and the aircraft came around the same time around the - 400.
You know you're common if you clap on an aircraft when it lands.
If in doubt, Flat out :D
Nice Colin McRae reference!
I've had some pretty scetchy landings at Leeds, in much smaller planes. Its just one of those places, when its bad, its pretty bad.
Two landings for the price of one.
I really want to be in a go around due to weather
G-CELR ?? got to be close to 30 years old my granddad flew it during WW2
Yeah it was just under 30 year old when this was filmed
had a really similar experience yesterday it was horrible
Antony D'Andrea did u have a fly round and was it at Leeds was bad wind last few days and hate landing there 😳😳
I would pay for this
Usual weather for west yorks.
Is anyone else still waiting for the screaming and strong language?
Do you know the wind speeds??
Bit quieter the second time around 😂
How old is this plane? looks like she's got a few years on her, cool video by the way, "two for one landings" hahaha
This 737-300, G-CELR, was unfortunately stored at Kemble (GBA) back on the 16th November 2016, where she was later scrapped. She was 31.0 years old.
I feel sorry for the dude who is freaking out ;/
👌👍view . wings of plane beside clouds.🙏🙏👌👍mrs.malathi.B'lore.karnataka.india.
