Amazing striking technique! Look at his body shape as he strikes the ball. Arms counter-balancing, hips swivelling, head over the ball and MASSIVE follow through. Created dip, swerve and power beyond belief! The ball is usually going left to right in flight but sometimes climbing, sometimes dipping, sometimes freaking corkscrewing! Absolutely immense player, a joy to watch. Respect from a Chelsea fan here.
When I watch and remember these goals I shake my head in disbelief. His bravery in attacking the ball when defenders are lunging at him to try and block the shot ......well, it was unbelievable. His iron will. His technique! Bloody hell, he was a gem. Plus, he was more than a player to the Liverpool faithful.
Considering he grew up within walking distance of the stadium, and played his entire career at Liverpool - if a movie was made about it, people would think- "Nah, unrealistic. Fairy tales don't come true."

From an Inter Milan fan, I think Gerrard was the most complete midfielder of his decade: tackling, dribbling, passing, shooting, leading the team...this guy had it all! That shot at 4:13, getting past Cambiasso, Stankovic, Chivu and Cesar to strike in the only possible space in the goal, still haunts me to this day. A snooker shot. Cheers :)
Some people might think "So he just scored some long range shots, so what? everyone scores them at times." but these shots mean so much more. Gerrard could virtually do anything on the pitch so he was simply amazing. These shots though, they were not prayers, these were purposeful. And these shots represented hope for us, hope that at anytime, there could be a goal and the game could change. Maybe because our team was shit, we had to feel that way but yea when the ball was on his feet, we felt like anything could happen.

If I Have to choose I would prefer Beckham the most personally, cause I think his passing ability is unreachable. Gerrard would be my 2nd, he was just brilliant
I completely agree with you. Lampard scored more goals if I am not mistaken, Scholes had the best range of passing, Giggs the the best dribbling and pace, Beckham with the best crossing and dead ball delivery, Carrick had defense but Gerrard did all of those at a 90 percent level compared to those players where the other players completely lacked other skills. Like Beckham couldn’t defend and Carrick couldn’t shoot but Stevie G could do it all at such a high level. Since I started watching football he is perhaps the most complete player to ever play. I never saw Koeman, Gullit or Platini play but I heard they were very complete players too. Such a shame he never won a PL. Oh well, the UCL in my opinion is the hardest and most prestigious trophy even though he beat my AC Milan. I still miss his genius.

@@BloodSweatAndMeth For a start, it’s a factually correct statement. Gerrard does have more long range goals than some players have combined goals. And secondly, Lampard doesn’t eclipse him at all. 0:11 is his best goal. That was the one which was the furthest out. The video being cropped makes you unable to view how far out it actually was, it was easily 35+ yards. It's waaaaaay better than his famous Champions League goal which was at least 10-15 yards further in front. In terms of pure quality of the goal, the one at 0:11 is the best.
To me the goal at 4:13 is the most difficult one. That angle... those who have played football know how hard it is to even think about shooting from there.
His best free kick was this one 3:47
The 2 goals in FA cup final were wonderful! Trailing 2-1 and 3-2 at that point 👍👍 No one questions his leadership and dedication at Liverpool 👍👍👍
@@andreacantieri3364 I agree that was to unbelievable to watch in the ucl as well what a goal.
But in the UCL vs Olympiakos, Gerrard volley the ball.
I saw that goal live and I loved how he prepared the shot.
The timing was perfect.
I'm a United fan but this guy was a fantastic player, what a legend!
History can't find another Steven G. He is the reason I belonged to this family "You'll never walk alone"
I pray some day I have the honour to shake his hand...
The pitches have improved so much since then.
