I promise no rudeness intended, honestly....one major point that you may be overlooking that he mentioned is that the glasses die with even 'marginal' use within an hour or two.... you'd never be able to reach that number of photos or video before you're reaching for your phone and taking photos and videos with it, while looking through your neat Ray Ban dead battery sunglasses, 😆
I just bought these and I really like them.. I only use them for taking video and the battery has held up very well. They are ideal for short story based videos and the POV works great. I take videos that I wouldn't normally take and the simplicity of the app makes them great for travelling and editing on the go. If I want to take more serious videos then I revert to my DJI Pocket or my Ricoh GRIII
My purpose for this. I'm a mom and would absolutely love an easier way to catch photos and videos of those special family moments. Usually, by the time I get my phone out, the moment is over lol. I'm super pumped to wear these, catch those amazing moments, without having to physically HOLD my phone to take photos.
@@K7TZ Consider getting the Transition lenses, because they fairly quickly go from dark to clear when you go indoors. That way you don’t need to switch back and forth, with two different pairs of glasses. I think that is around $80.00 more, according to the video.
I suspect there could be a software update or something you need. I used my glasses all day today, I got more than 6 hours intermittent use out of them and even streamed music for an hour. My day started at 9 am and ended at 5.
Great Review. He answered absolutely all my questions. Prescriptions, waterproof, photo/video quality, storage capacity. If they were waterproof, I would’ve bought them to film while I’m kite boarding at the beach and I prefer better sound quality. I’ll check out the Bose that you mentioned.
I received these as a gift and I like them. I more use them to listen to my podcasts when I’m at the airport or when I’m in my Uber. I have used the video feature and it’s been ok, but I love the speakers they have in them.

Think of it like vencian blinds, if a particle is polarized in the vertical direction it can't get through and if it's polarized in the horizontal direction it can get through. Always go for polarized, always totally worth it.

Do not buy them if you plan to use them outside the continental United States or territories where they are physically sold. I bought two of them one for me and one for my wife. They do not work in Mexico, even though I am in a border city. The app is not available in stores outside the territories where they are sold. I managed to find an apk for android but since they use location services they don't even pair with the phone. RayBan should be warning not that they are only sold in some regions, but that they are really useless outside of those territories.

AB, you should definitely get these, as an addition to your phone and camera, the video quality is ok and once you cover up the white led at the front that's on when you're recording they'll honestly think they're just a pair of sunglasses, so if you turn off your phone and camera and keep these on you'll catch them out with their guard down

Yours is categorically the best review of these on UA-cam, so thanks for making it! I ordered a pair primarily to take first person video clips for use on Instagram, when I'm doing my work, and I suspect they'll work okay for that. Oh, one thing: Polarization is not ALWAYS better. I drive a lot of race cars and high performance cars, and polarized lenses affect depth perception, and make everything "flatter," which is not ideal in situations where depth perception is critical. Also, since digital screens incorporate their own polarizers, wearing polarized lenses while looking at screens renders them unreadable. (But I admit that for most daily wear use, most people will prefer polarized lenses. They do an amazing job of cutting glare off horizontal and vertical surfaces.)
I stopped using polarized lenses on my ray bans when I noticed the same thing with depth perception, I drive high end cars and take my ct4 v to the track and depth perception is key. Not to mention with polarization I cannot see my HUD. Which is nice to use.
As a real estate professional, I can’t help but give these a try because I really want to film my daily activities like driving through neighborhoods without getting a ticket for using my phone while driving. Also it’s safer than holding my phone while driving. Any thoughts regarding my idea for these ?
For a realestate agent it sounds like a legit idea to me. Just remember to press record every 30sec. I'm thinking of getting one pair as l lost my cycling Oakleys and l want to record my cycling rides at the same time. The gopro is a bit tedious to fix and remove and charge etc 😂

Looks and sounds promising. I see the second gen version of these being great if they can give them an IP rating and improve the video length cap. The price seems reasonable for what you are getting if you consider that they are only a premium of 30% for these smart features.
An important aspect that wasn't mentioned is durability. I've been wearing prescription Wayfarers daily for years. They are very tough frames. Maybe these will be my next pair.

@@comment_creator_76 Hey conspiracy theorist, so I bought these. You can auto-export all footage to camera roll so there is no Facebook "platform only" control. The memory can hold 35 x thirty second videos or ~17.5 minutes of footage. The battery usually dies before you get there. They also overheat if you continuously record. So it would have to be re-engineered with a higher battery capacity and better heat management to record continuously. Whatever spycam you're talking about either has higher battery capacity or lower power draw. Simple physics.
30 seconds of video as well as the weird square 1:1 resolution is a deal killer. Maybe in 5 years when you can record an hour of 1080p or perhaps even 4k video, it'll be worth it. Such limited storage is bizarre when there's definitely enough room to build in a micro SD to those things. They could have a ton of storage in there if they want.
So I understand to you it might be creepy, but as a business owner it is great. I can give out estimates & have evidence of what they have chosen. Unlike the past where once everything is installed, all of a sudden something is wrong. Thanks for a great review!

I think the video/picture quality you showed from the glasses was quite decent. I think you were overly comparing/expecting them to be too much like a Pixel/iPhone quality.
Just purchased a pair a day ago got them for vacation. I love the frames and I have the polarized ones. Definitely will put them to the test and see if these are soon to be return item or not.

When you said the video is in 30 second slots, is that continuous? I think I will go with my none 'creepy' option of using a mini bob lov on the exterior of my glasses and wait until the technology is of a standard I can accept, especialy at that price, for a prototype.

Cool thanks man. Love Ray-Bans but it's a no for me at the 30 second limit. It would be really cool say if you're on a boat and wanted your phone to say safe without getting wet and could just have it on record like a GoPro. Sadly, the tech is not there yet this is yet another round public beta testing.
I would be more interested if the video functioned like a dashcam. Ideally, always recording and saves a clip when I hit a button. Even if the "dashcam" mode is something you could toggle so that it isn't on ALL the time...
$299.00 for sunglasses that are NOT polarized. My $19 Walmart glasses are polarized. All high end glasses should be polarized... that should NOT even be an option.
Have you noticed the left side camera and LED do absolutely nothing.... what's the point? I thought maybe one of them was for photos and one was for videos. That is indeed not the case.
It should stream bluetooth video to your phone for processing/storage and have only the minimum components on the glasses itself. Ideally it needs to last 8 hours of continuous recording and have a button to store last 30sec.
He finds the camera creepy but has no problems carrying around a phone that literally listens to his every word, tracks every step, and can 100% be remotely turned on for camera recording without his knowledge. But thats perfectly fine. What a ridiculous statement.

I bought to use in the band. I’m hoping audio quality holds up. Would be cool to get some short video of our fans and stage pov shots. In a TikTok, short attention span world, 30 seconds is all I need. Obviously the hands free use is helpful if I’m playing or singing. Just can’t write a song called “Hey Facebook” lol
Did Google play remove the app because I cannot find it there using my Samsung Galaxy Note 4.....if I can't get the app I need to cancel my order. I just Got the DUST smart glasses....which has the app...but do not work with my phone Google said, but fortunately you really don't need it since they have buttons to change the tint and will still hook up using Bluetooth......wonder why Facebook view isn't on Google play?
Such a disappointment. It seems these days you have 3 options for camera glasses. These kind of over priced "high quality" glasses. They're almost definitely going to work and keep working, but they're not super functional. Actual good quality camera glasses that allow loop recording, have an sd card slot, allow the clips to be longer than 30 seconds and don't require an app to be functional, but are only sun glasses, so not practical in doors. Then you have cheap quality camera glasses that have all the same functions as the previous ones, but might not work, might break, but also have clear lenses. Why can't someone just make some high quality camera glasses that don't require an app, have an sd card slot, allow loop recording and have clear lenses and are going to work and keep working

This product is an early beta... companies are good at milking people for years with these 'incremental releases' before releasing the "real version". with 30 sec clips, and a barely passable camera.. lol, I'll pass. Maybe a random Chinese OEM will take the initave to make a decent version of these.

Well I was going to buy it but it only does 30 second videos.
30 seconds of video as well as the weird square 1:1 resolution is a deal killer. Maybe in 5 years when you can record an hour of 1080p or perhaps even 4k video, it'll be worth it.
Such limited storage is bizarre when there's definitely enough room to build in a micro SD to those things. They could have a ton of storage in there if they want.

I think the video/picture quality you showed from the glasses was quite decent. I think you were overly comparing/expecting them to be too much like a Pixel/iPhone quality.

Thank you so much for your honest review. I went to the Ray-Ban store yesterday and although the price had decreased by £100, I noticed the video itself is not a 16:9 finish. When you said the video is in 30 second slots, is that continuous? I think I will go with my none 'creepy' option of using a mini bob lov on the exterior of my glasses and wait until the technology is of a standard I can accept, especialy at that price, for a prototype.

30 seconds is short for footage inside the sneaker stores.
Maybe you had a bad pair or they weren't fully charged because mine last way longer than that under heavy use.

Hi Seth, I have these and have been using them for a couple days now…. Why is there 2 cameras and it seems like the right one is only recording? Is there a way to get a wide perspective with the two cameras? Or is the left camera some kind of sensor? Please help, I’m curious… these are pretty fun though. Cool thanks man. Love Ray-Bans but it's a no for me at the 30 second limit. It would be really cool say if you're on a boat and wanted your phone to say safe without getting wet and could just have it on record like a GoPro. Sadly, the tech is not there yet this is yet another round public beta testing.
I would be more interested if the video functioned like a dashcam. Ideally, always recording and saves a clip when I hit a button. Even if the "dashcam" mode is something you could toggle so that it isn't on ALL the time...
$299.00 for sunglasses that are NOT polarized. My $19 Walmart glasses are polarized. All high end glasses should be polarized... that should NOT even be an option.

Have you noticed the left side camera and LED do absolutely nothing.... what's the point? I thought maybe one of them was for photos and one was for videos. That is indeed not the case.
I love my glasses but I was testing both left and right camera by putting my hand in front. And so far don’t see the use of the left camera.

It should stream bluetooth video to your phone for processing/storage and have only the minimum components on the glasses itself. Ideally it needs to last 8 hours of continuous recording and have a button to store last 30sec.
He finds the camera creepy but has no problems carrying around a phone that literally listens to his every word, tracks every step, and can 100% be remotely turned on for camera recording without his knowledge. But thats perfectly fine. What a ridiculous statement.

I bought to use in the band. I’m hoping audio quality holds up. Would be cool to get some short video of our fans and stage pov shots. In a TikTok, short attention span world, 30 seconds is all I need. Obviously the hands free use is helpful if I’m playing or singing. Just can’t write a song called “Hey Facebook” lol
Did Google play remove the app because I cannot find it there using my Samsung Galaxy Note 4.....if I can't get the app I need to cancel my order. I just Got the DUST smart glasses....which has the app...but do not work with my phone Google said, but fortunately you really don't need it since they have buttons to change the tint and will still hook up using Bluetooth......wonder why Facebook view isn't on Google play?

Such a disappointment. It seems these days you have 3 options for camera glasses. These kind of over priced "high quality" glasses. They're almost definitely going to work and keep working, but they're not super functional. Actual good quality camera glasses that allow loop recording, have an sd card slot, allow the clips to be longer than 30 seconds and don't require an app to be functional, but are only sun glasses, so not practical in doors. Then you have cheap quality camera glasses that have all the same functions as the previous ones, but might not work, might break, but also have clear lenses. Why can't someone just make some high quality camera glasses that don't require an app, have an sd card slot, allow loop recording and have clear lenses and are going to work and keep working
You know you can wear sunglasses inside right? Not practical in doors? Who says that? I guess if you're only wearing it to block the sun and not for style reasons.
The little light that turns on is a give away that your recording.
This product is an early beta... companies are good at milking people for years with these 'incremental releases' before releasing the "real version". with 30 sec clips, and a barely passable camera.. lol, I'll pass. Maybe a random Chinese OEM will take the initave to make a decent version of these.
The camera quality is tip top for data harvesting.
