Tbh i am genuinely not surprised that things were like this back in the 1930s but i definitely wish that people could've just hired crazy acrobats in movies so that so many people wouldn't have to be on the brink of death
Yeah it's crazy! with the use of the toxic makeup, the dangers were already known at that time. But they put the actors through it because it would look better for the film
The acrobats wouldn’t be safe either the actual set was doomed 😂 broomsticks exploding wires snapping fire exploding into peoples face now acrobatic Firefighter makes alot more sense
My favorite bit of movie lore is the synchronicity between Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon and The Wizard of Oz, a psychedelic coincidence for recreational drug users in the 70’s. My least favorite Wizard of Oz fact is the paradox that 14-year-olds in Iowa can legally drive, buy Galaxy gas, sip synthetic lean, work at a slaughterhouse, yet cannot check out the book Wicked from their high school library due to book bans and censorship. A really great video for sure and The Wizard of Oz is a stark reminder of the exploitative nature of the Hollywood system.
Yes, it was a nightmare to make and kinda suprised they didn't abandon it. Its also tragic for all the trouble they cut out like 5 songs( including trimming down songs) and bits of dialogue/ visuals didn't make sense. Still, a beloved masterpiece. They should have tied the best supporting Actress with Margaret Hamilton. I probably would have thought of suing if I was here. Careerwise, it would have been over in those days.
Very informative and educational video, I enjoyed it very much. I did know a lot of the stories you talked about but the one about the wizards coat was just wild and extremely interesting. Gave me chills as well. What they did to Margaret Hamilton and Judy on set was outright criminal and if that was down now they’d probably be in jail. You are an absolutely stunning and beautiful girl and you did an excellent job with this video, I truly enjoyed it.
25:55 I kinda get why they didn’t want her. Imagine dying in that lions suit and scarecrow and then you have this unknown actor that could either make it great or fail it all all that effort for nothing that’s probably why they’re mad.
Another amazing upload! I watched this movie as a teen and never knew these things. I had some idea about the lack of health and safety and mistreatment of women but I never knew it was this bad!! I'm gonna watch this movie once again keeping in mind the things that you said. These actors literally put their blood and sweat in the making of this film which makes this movie more of a masterpiece in my eyes. Also, both my chemistry and biology teachers would be very proud of you for your correct pronunciation of Aluminium and mesothelioma. I have one question tho, my girlfriend also watched this video, is it okay if i still call her my munchkin? 😅
phenomenal video!! the history of these books and movies is beyond disturbing l. frank baum himself (the author of the 14 wizard of oz books) was so problematic; he was an absolute monster not only did he make racist political cartoons that were almost certainly a main factor of wounded knee massacre (the largest mass sh**ting in usa history making over 300 indigenous victims on dec. 29th 1890), but he ALSO appropriated the words "red skins" in political cartoons and media because he wanted to 'paint their (indigenous people's) brown skin red with blood.' some of these ads he wrote and illustrated called for literally sc*lping indigenous people that was around 1890. then only 10 years later, in the introduction to the first oz book, he writes about how he doesn't want to write about anything too horrifying or scary for kids in his books in 2006 his family issued a public apology
@ its true, my mom works on a lot of investigations and she found that is was true and he might have done it because judy rejected him after he asked her out

I totally agree but I just am wondering about that one other story that you could go to prison if yo7 talk about

It's a miracle that nobody died on set thank goodness. Those people went through pure 🔥🔥🔥🔥 putting this film together.

Really big fan of this movie and channel and hearing about what they would do to these people makes me feel very bad for them 😭

My math teacher LOVEEEESSSSS the wizard of Oz
Girl I bought you would have at least 5mil subs😢
And when you play The Dark Side Of The Moon over the Wizard of Oz...
yes! i've always wanted to do that
the lyrics follow the movements of Professor Marvel/The Wizard of Oz/the Gatekeeper/the Carriage Driver, and the Guard at the Wizard's door
Most of the health issues were because of the director..
Ruined my childhood. Realizing that I had a classmate named Glinda and I was like "no wonder male students pick on her"

the bird was a replacement, nobody had noticed the body in the background because they were wanting to get the scene done
I’m pretty sure the body was a rumor but I may be wrong

there is NO way that's true lol
@@marinamcbain ngl its prob not the real reason but it is true that he hung himself
i also heard that the dog got paid more than the munchkins. i would hang myself too if a dog was getting paid more than me 😭😭💀
I would’ve sewed MGM for everything they had they was producing atleast 30 movies a year I stg replacing me they would’ve paid for that
Omg😱😱😱😱😱😱🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯😨😨😨😨😨
You said aluminium correct it’s the Americans who say it wrong due to a spelling error. 👍🏽

No, Judy died… I feel so bad for her. She didn’t deserve that type of treatment.
so so sad
she dies from old age, not from any of these things she talked about
Hellooooo :)
hiii!
The directors suck
Does anyone notice she said 2025 but it is still 2024
Smh your story was good up until you said that coat story which was debunked almost instantly
Remember when the director slapped Judy garland for laughing to get back to acting for the scene
I am so sad for Rd the people put through allllllll offffffff thisssssssss😢😢😢😢😢😭😭😭😭😭😓😓😓😓😓🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️
