13th June is Rare Chromosome Awareness Day, our son suffers from a rare chromosome disorder.
Parts of his brain were not formed because of this disorder.
It was very difficult trying to understand our son’s diagnosis because no one could determine how affected he would be by it, it’s something only time would tell. It turned out he is severely affected by his condition 15q13.3 and the features from this condition are him being non verbal, having autism, adhd, and severe learning disabilities. It is an epic journey to undergo when you find out your child has these challenges, @unique_charity were a great support in helping us understand and eventually accept our son’s rare condition.
On rare chromosome day I would like to acknowledge all the other parents out there doing a great job for their kids against all odds and also shout out to unique for helping us through confusing and challenging times, it’s a small but important charity that have helped us as a family connect with other parents in similar situations and given the only source of insight to what is known about our Valentino’s rare condition.
