For those scared of the "creepy' voice at 5:42, it's the same voice that speaks at 2:42. Notice that her voice is mic'ed comparing to the others who just shout their numbers aloud. She just holds the mic the whole time and wanted to whisper something to her friend, while forgetting to switch it off.
Thankyou RI for making me spill my coffee all over the coffee table, here I was all alone having an afternoon brew when some weird spooky whispering came through the surround speakers behind me...... thanks a bunch... about 05:40 ish...
@Alfetto8 In his mind, the only thing stopping him from completing his education was that course. It can feel like that sometimes when you're in the middle of it. Engineers need to handle many things, most of the time _not_ math actually.
LaMaisondeCasaHouse I was so freaked out about it that I went to my skype and starting speaking into my microphone (since I recently was on a call and thought it said "I forgot to mute my mike"), and then starting freaking out. It was amazing until I replayed the video.

8:20 A family friend got a visit one night very late by a police officer. Apparently the police officer had been flagged down by a very scared local drug addict. They guy was well known to the police and had been arrested several times on charges such as robbery, drug possession, and other theft based crime, but was known to be non-violent and, ironically, quite honest. He simply never lied to the police because, as he said, he wasn't very smart and knew he could not get away with it. Anyway the guy had flagged down the cop in a near panic. He admitted to breaking into a house but fled when he realized there was a lunatic inside. He was sneaking around looking for some valuables to pick up when he heard a "demonic" voice say, "I see you, ha ha ha." he didn't laugh, he actual;ly said, "ha ha ha" As I said, this guy was non-violent and if caught inside a house by the owner he would just surrender or run away if he could. He got the cops attention worried that the lunatic had also broke in and had murderous plans for the family. The cop knowing the guy to NOT be a liar also became worried. He arrested the guy then went to investigate who else might have broken in. The lunatic turned out to be their pet bird, who they would play a game with, sneaking around the house and saying, "I see you ha ha ha." This story does have a happy ending. The addict got cleaned up, never touched the stuff again, got a job, got married, and now has his own family. He says he owes it all to "that damn bird"
5:41 No you do not all of the sudden have developed shizophrenia. The whispering voices you heard are on the video track :) Don't panic, it's all good.
Interesting graphs - "Women's attractiveness, as rated by men" = Normal Distribution. "Men's attractiveness, as rated by women" = Log-Normal distribution. This contrast suggests that men generally use only one criteria to judge a women's attractiveness, whereas women are using more than one criteria to judge men [the product of two or more normal distributions gives a log-normal distribution.]
So if you reduce the number of burglaries with this, where do the criminals go? Will they go commit other crimes? Do they move to a different area/city? Or live on less money? Or suddenly turn good and get an honest job?
after considering calculous the difference betwee dy and delta y is as far as I can go in outer words in a very short time it may be possible like weather by the hour or next month.
Funny, I'm nearly done reading Prelude to Foundation and I suddenly get from Numberphile to someone talking about - well, psychohistory by Hari Seldon ;-)
I was searching for commodity math prediction, found this one. Not bad its good 2 see that a very loyal teacher is teaching great math. Bcz without it we are nothing in this universe
Neat trick/prediction (and thanks for admitting you had one in reserve! Say, was it by any chance, that *fewer* than half the numbers would start with 1 or 2? ;-) But the way you called for the numbers to be selected, each possible starting digit, D, should have a probability frequency of about p(D) = log₁₀(D+1) - log₁₀(D) so that for 1 & 2 combined, the frequency should be close to log₁₀3 = 0.47712... This is a good little trick to pull at random (pun intended!). I like!
It shouldn't make a difference. After all, this is information the burglar already knows. For the cops, it gives them new information to work with, but the burglar can already achieve the same result for themselves by simply not robbing the same (or adjacent) place twice. The analysis grants the information to cops, but it provides no advantage to their adversary. For the burglar, the main concern is the risk:reward ratio, and this method tips that away from their favor if they follow the apparently-common strategy of repeat victimization.
I've been coming up with solutions to problems using Meta AI. I've been chatting with it for a few months now and truly believe AI should be making decisions for our species because obviously we can't seem to ourselves. Using a percentage based value of certainty scale. (VCS) I'm actually creating a formula by probabilities and generalized circumstances. I know obviously this is already being done but from an outside vision I can create a certain type of format that might not have generally been considered, maybe not but I'm having an amazing experience doing it lol Meta AI is like an extension of my mind it awesome 🔥
As an aside: What happens when the burglars get a hold of this app. Can they know where the cops aren't going on patrol and thus avoid these areas, knowing they won't be apprehended? For every measure there is a counter-measure. Seriously, a fascinating presentation. It is amazing how great the power of mathematics is.
Hannah Fry shows how maths can explain real world events in her talk from Ada Lovelace Day 2015.
hi
Hannah Fry is very enjoyable to listen to.
I know she is great
Can you ask her to leave the political ideology at the door, it has no place in science? I should say, it shouldn't have a place in science.
Any word on that creepy whisper?
well, that demonic whispering in the middle of the video just delayed my sleep by about 4 hours, great video though
hahaha, you spotted it as well. I was freaked out by it.
Don't worry, it was just the audio engineer being lazy and leaving all the mics open xD
Did she get trolled by the other lady with the mic?
jeeez thank god I wasn't the only one to hear it. Otherwise it would have meant that those whispers were there for me...
what did she even say?
5:41 creepy whispering lady :D "Only needs mike" or something, haha
Haha, I was also replaying it for ten times to try and decipher what she's saying :) scary whispers!
Your name fits very well with the overheard line. Cooking With Cows. Only needs milk
***** Haha, 'mute the mic'.
***** I got, "Can we mute the mic?" then a second later I hear "queeeeer..."

The whispering from 5:41 to 5:45 creeps me the fuck out.
"Can we mute the mic?... okay" spooky
Sounds like "Colin needs a mic. Colin.." to me.
Hannah you are Brilliant! Love your intelligence and charisma!
I especially liked the part with the unholy demon creature whispering in the background.
Bit ironic really, considering the venue...

Does that mean a burglar can look at the same distribution to know where not to rob?
Won't have access to that data unless they hack a police system.
