Great tutorial. The silicon-anode in Chinese smart phones almost certainly uses material from Group14 Technologies (Honor does). I agree this becomes VERY interesting when the technology migrates into EVs. Imagine an EV with 25%-50% more range, and ability to charge in under 10 minutes! Group14 just announced the commissioning of the first EV-scale silicon anode material plant in the world (JV with SK in Korea). A US plant will go live in Q4, 2024. So, there will be plenty of material for all end uses.

And now that Tesla has announced they will introduce silicon batteries (NC-30 and NC-50) in 2026 models, the race is on to not be left behind....

A comment to "How's the battery life"@6:52. I own honor magic 6 pro. It consumes battery life depending on your use. In my personal experience, my phone usually consumes 8 percent of battery per hour, sometimes 9. I only charge my phone to 86 percent and use it up to 20 percent, in that level, my phone gives me 6hrs 30mins to sometimes 7hrs of screen on time on Wi-Fi and data use. My phone has given me 10 hours of screen on time in the past when charged it to 100 percent and used it until 20 percent. However my phone did give me 3hrs of screen on time from 100 percent to somewhere at 80 percent when I was just only using facebook and youtube.

Thank you. I really need this information. I have honor 200 pro and I'm just wondering what's the difference of si/c battery vs. li/ion.

4:05 Vivo has also been using silicon carbon batteries since the iQOO Z9 back in April, unfortunately i dont think iQOO is in the Philiphines...

The most important question is, is it combustible or can it go kaboom?

interested to see how companies like Apple and Samsung do in relation to this. I know for sure Apple will design its own.

So they're telling us that powdered glass and coconut shells will power our phones. Ha ha ha, it takes much more than that.

if apple starts using these batteries, standard/pro (smaller ones) iPhones wont have bad battery life anymore.
