Instead of doing single player vanilla survival, there's Multiplayer, Mods, and building, you can build a huge building, like anything. The Deathstar. But it is best played multiplayer.
Anyone remember 2012, when Minecraft was at its peak? Right when they added enchanting. Didn't feel bloated. No screaming 8 year olds. I loved it.

I worked as a level designer in the gaming industry for a couple of years. This game is literally like handing the old Unreal engine to the player and saying, "Hey I made a half ass level, then I got tired. Build the rest yourself."

Max Payne 3 was the last game I worked on. Before that I worked for two smaller companies and I doubt people remember any of those games.

That is actually I game I know, even if I don't own it personally, but that's a nice one.
But I still like minecraft, it’s not the best thing ever, but building your own stuff is kind of cool, and I don’t think graphic is anything, lots of old NES games are still more fun to play than some modern ones.
***** Really? Well I didn't stay on for the entire development time (had to leave Rockstar due to personal reasons,) but I'm glad the game turned out well considering how many face lifts every level got and how much we had to scrap. The final product looked little like what I worked on.

Lol *blushes* thank you. I remember the guy who scripted the cinematics. One day our boss came to the meeting and told him he's got to throw them all out and start from scratch, so they would transition from in-game to cinematic seamlessly. The rest of us looked at each other like we're grateful it wasn't us. :D
I don't think I'll work in the gaming industry ever again. Rockstar was my last and the reason I left was intense migraine headaches due to too many sleepless nights and staring at the computer screen in the dark for too long. It's a tough field to work in.
Oh man, I haven’t seen that old version of minecraft in so long. This brings back so many memories. I used to play the Xbox 360 version of minecraft so much 10 years ago. Minecraft on the Xbox 360 was actually the first version of minecraft I ever played. This is so nostalgic.
I remember my little brother and I playing survival trying to survive. It was a fun time and good memories

What you can do WITHOUT mods (modifications) is you can fight monsters, build things like houses, art, farms...ect. There are many things you can do. Ppl keep playing it bc every time you play, you can do ANYTHING you want almost. If you cant do something you wish you could, just get a mod (only for PC).
DavidPlays Well If a games graphics are shit then it's less enjoyable looking at shit on a screen. Reason I don't revisit old games I loved back the years. I remember loving them but when I have tried to revisit I get a bad taste in my mouth as it just shows how old and outdated the game really is. I Don't go back to remember how I loved them back then.

The main draw of the game, is building. You collect materials to make tools, which allow you to collect better materials quicker. You then use those materials to build things.
Think Legos, except you have to manually collect all the blocks using various tools, while avoiding monsters.

Sold for 2.6 billion too Microsoft, the game was never really intended to be popular, it was created for fun and has become, one of the best games ever made, enough said and you get people saying there's nothing to do, you can go on a journey make loads of bases, go to the nether world, create a super farm and fight with monsters and generally have a good laugh with friend, don't like the crap graphics download texture packs :)

Where did you get that 2.6 billion number from?! Minecraft has sold approximately 17 million copies of the game on PC and possibly 12 more on Xbox/PS. And the journey it offers is no better than a journey you may find in almost every roguelike game. The game is on of the most popular games indeed. Furthermore, take it out of the history and nothing would change (well, may be there would not be hundreds clones of it). If you like it - that is good, just don't make an elephant out of a fly.

Minecraft was a horrible Idea for Consoles. It's best for PC's... Reason being are Mods. With mods you can add endings to your games. You can do things with your creations. Mods bring Minecraft alive when Vanilla is just plain trash.
But is a game really any good if you have to modify it to make it fun?

Yeah. But they're not really THAT hard on console, since it gives you a tutorial and stuff. Plus he might have had issues with crafting and stuff, since it's not automated.
txfnero He didn't even use crafting, plus he had a "gaming pro" with him, so it wouldn't be to hard. Overall, pc minecraft was then and still is better.
Actually, I MUCH prefer the XBOX controller to fiddling around with a mouse/keyboard combo.....it's the main reason why I rarely play games on a PC. Too bad, because the PC version of Minecraft is obviously far superior to the 360 version in every other way.

Conway220 Technically, you can use a controller with the PC version of Minecraft. But it's not exactly made for it. You can't just plug a controller in and set the controls, you usually need to use something like Xpadder or something to set the controller buttons to keys/mouse clicks. And even then, it's not perfect. And it gets even more complicated if you add a bunch of mods that add more controls.

lets see almost ALL FF games, Chrono trigger, xenogears, xenosaga series, Star ocean series (except the first one) , Lost Odessy, kingdom heasts, Magna carta, and other that I forgoten their names right now ... its safe to say I am a veteran with jrpg.
some games have more grinding than others ... and some have so boring gameplay that makes grinding worse. For me the best Jrpg in grinding terms is Star ocean and kingdom heats , I guess I prefer more real time battles

I kind of wish that they had shown Conan his studio in Minecraft or even himself kind of like they did in the Fallout 4 clueless gamer to show him why it’s so popular.
I like this game, but I can't play it... It just feels like there is no point when playing it, You build a giant city, and than...what exactly? its not as if you can do anything with your creations. Its fun until you finish what your doing.

***** Thats why I don't play any of those.... and even if you take those games into consideration it does not matter. minecraft is still different in a way. if you throw in the fact that the graphics aren't good, and than take into account that the whole game is based around building, than there really is not much left after your done. There are games that are fun even after you do every single thing possible. Games like GTA, skyrim, fallout, Assassins creed ect. Its still a great game, and I often lose myself in it, but I can't help but feel 100% bored after doing something.
***** The way I have always stated my opinion of COD is that I like the game, but it does not impress me. The last COD game I really enjoyed was World at War, and COD 4. Every call of duty that gets released these days just never seems to bring much new to the table that feels like a new game.
. the rest of them are still great especially the entire Modern warfare story. I really like the Father/son type relationship between soap, and price, and I really did not care for any of the COD characters like I did with the MW cast.
Get it on PC and look up and play some of the best mods.

I really like the freedom to make whatever you want, it can just be too tedious and take too long to do so at times. The first time you play and explore though it's extremely fun.

I got into Minecraft at around 1.8 Beta. It was an amazing experience, but when they started adding all this extra stuff like carrots, horses, etc. I kind of felt like Minecraft wasn't the same experience. Ever since I haven't played it.

I liked it when I was on a nice server and I was a mod. The server got shut down when the owner decided to invest time in creating a fully functioning mmo mod for Minecraft though. Since then I haven't been able to find an active server without completely out of control griefing. Last time I played Minecraft, a mod filled my castle with silverfish eggs, and that was the last goddamn straw.
