This summer, the epic studio disaster movie returns with an adrenaline-pumping, big-screen thrill ride that puts you in direct contact with one of nature’s most wondrous-and destructive-forces.
From the producers of the Jurassic, Bourne and Indiana Jones series comes Twisters, a current-day chapter of the 1996 blockbuster, Twister. Directed by Lee Isaac Chung, the Oscar® nominated writer-director of Minari, Twisters stars Daisy Edgar-Jones (Where the Crawdads Sing), Glen Powell (Top Gun: Maverick) and Anthony Ramos (Transformers: Rise of the Beasts) as equal forces, with opposing motivations, who come together to try to predict, and possibly tame, the immense power of tornadoes.
Edgar-Jones stars as Kate Carter, a former storm chaser haunted by a devastating encounter with a tornado during her college years who now studies storm patterns on screens safely in New York City. She is lured back to the open plains by her friend, Javi (Ramos) to test a groundbreaking new tracking system. There, she crosses paths with Tyler Owens (Powell), the charming and reckless social-media superstar who thrives on posting his storm-chasing adventures with his raucous crew, the more dangerous the better.
As storm season intensifies, terrifying phenomena never seen before are unleashed, and Kate, Tyler, Javi and their crews find themselves squarely in the paths of multiple storm systems converging over central Oklahoma in the fight of their lives.
Twisters features an exciting new cast, including Nope’s Brandon Perea, Golden Globe winner Maura Tierney (Beautiful Boy), Sasha Lane (American Honey), Harry Hadden-Paton (The Crown), David Corenswet (We Own This City), Daryl McCormack (Peaky Blinders), Tunde Adebimpe (Leave the World Behind), Katy O’Brian (Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania), Nik Dodani (Atypical), Kiernan Shipka (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) and Paul Scheer (Black Monday).
From Amblin, Twisters is directed by Lee Isaac Chung and is produced by Oscar® nominee Frank Marshall (Jurassic and Indiana Jones franchises) and by Patrick Crowley (Jurassic and Bourne franchises). The screenplay is by Mark L. Smith, writer of the Best Picture nominee The Revenant, from a story by Joseph Kosinski (Oblivion), based on characters created by Michael Crichton & Anne Marie Crichton. The executive producers are Academy Award® winner Steven Spielberg, Thomas Hayslip and Ashley Jay Sandberg. Twisters will be distributed by Universal Pictures domestically and by Warner Bros. Pictures internationally.

I've seen all the trailers and TV spots for Twisters, and I realized, in the scene where EF4 hits a city at night, Kate (Daisy Edgar) wears the same clothes that Joe Harding (Helen Hunt) wore when the tornado hit the drive in movie and Wakita.

I saw Jaws in the movie theater two years ago (re-released) and it looked like I was literally in the ocean lmao I can't imagine this. I didn't see Twister until it was on video when I was a kid.

As someone who is not from OK, but lived there for a few years and learned to love it, I am so happy to see the love and respect being shown to the state and its people. OKC is genuinely one of the most underrated cities in the US.
that 90s Twister was ground breaking in movie & special effects, watched it many times since then &* having it on DVD so the any people i know have it in there collection , LOVED IT👍🤞👌

I don't think it will be "ground breaking" like the original but it still looks like it's going to be a good movie.
So incredibly happy to see that they shot this movie on film and used a lot of great practical effects. It looks so great visually, that I am actually very excited to catch this in the theater!
Please this movie will flop. I doubt it will be very successful. It won’t make that much money. This movie isn’t as good as Twister is. There’s no good acting in it at all.

I hope during their "lightning delays" they at least filmed a little bit of it to make the storms in the movie look realistic.
I was thinking the same thing. I would have had my cinematographer set up and just let the camera roll until all the film in the magazine has been exposed. Those lightning storms are absolutely breathtaking.

Imagine you're some random stormchaser and Glen Powell rolls up and is like "They offered to take me storm chasing."
I chase these things in real life, do not attempt to chase these storms, if you want to chase tornadoes or severe weather, go to a storm spotter class provided by the National Weather Service. I’m also a trained weather spotter in Kansas. I would recommend going to a storm spotting class if you want to chase these things.
