Twisters was probably my biggest surprise of this year. I didn’t expect a lot of this movie but in the end it was one of the funniest movies i have watched during the year, and a very good experience at the cinema
Reason why they couldn't see the tornado before it hit them is because they were dealing with an HP (high precipitation) supercell: a supercell with relatively heavy precipitation around the updraft. As a result, the rain can obscure a tornado like it did here, making it very difficult to see. That's the extreme weather nerd speaking from inside of me. 😂
@@Vahlee-A If they were chasing an LP (low precipitation) supercell, they would've had much better luck as that's a supercell with little to no precipitation surrounding the updraft. Because it wouldn't be obscured by precipitation, nearly the entire upward spiraling structure of the storm could be seen. Plus, a tornado would be very easy to spot coming out of an LP supercell.
I'm enough of a nerd about the subject that when the movie began and they drove into the storm I thought with some measure of horror, "oh god, it's rain-wrapped."
You’re exactly right! As the HP tornado forms, a curtain of rain surrounds the updraft. They were in the Bear’s Cage. Like the name indicates, entering the Bear’s Cage is a very risky proposition.
This scene was genuinely scary and perfectly showed every storm chasers worst fear. Being stuck in a rain wrapped tornado and not being able to see anything. Just like El Reno. I do not like that they hid under an overpass. That just made the myth of an overpass being save in a tornado stronger. Besides the “Overpasses are the worst in tornadoes!” Line, it is never stated again how bad of hiding spots they are.
Looking back the overpass really was their only option. The only other place wood be a ditch but it didnt look like there was one. What I am mad about is how they didn’t say more about how bad of a hiding spot it is.
This scene and the ones after are supposed to be very serious, dramatic moments. However, watching in 4DX, the quiet parts were filled with laughter as everyone was absorbing how violently we were just shaken.
It would be better if they added the roar with the current sounds but a tornado “roaring” isn’t realistic. They sound like freight trains which the movie did a good job on.
@@ixdemonstudios4018 I agree. Though, the tornadoes in the Twister movies were never realistic. They were always characterized as monsters. They chase after the main leads, they growl and stuff.
When I was in my late 30s, I had a youthful passion for chasing storms and studying twisters. After my first child was born, my parental instinct kicked in and I lost my passion for storms and twisters.
pretty good movie! ordered pizza last night and watched it on my big screen.. some weird edits in the movie though. one min she's in a StormPar truck, then the next min she's in Tyler's truck, then back in her truck. not sure if there was supposed to be like some little time jumps there or what, but that was weird! still enjoyed it, and caught a bunch of Twister easter eggs. most obvious one was when she said 'I'm not back!' .. hehe.. fun movie! ☮
The one major inaccuracy here is that tornadoes don't get a confirmed EF rating until a damage survey has been completed by the National Weather Service, after the storm has passed through.
They can call it one according to wind speeds and then get confirmed or changed by NOAA later. I've had several tornadoes come where I live (not directly, but close), and lots were called EF2 or 3 and then the next day or two, NOAA said it was a high-end EF1. So a tornado being labeled as an EF type and then changed later actually happens more often than you might think
They actually talked about this in the movie. Tyler told Kate this during her emotional breakdown after he discovers her Tornado Taming research notebook and tries to convince her to retry the experiment.
Yea, I hated that he said that right off the bat in the movie, I almost smacked my own forehead. But Hollywood has to dramatize things. Even tornadoes.
They actually talk about that in the movie, they were saying it was an EF5 based on its wind speeds, even if it can’t be labeled as one because it has really done any damage, it certainly would’ve done that kind of damage
When I seen this in the cinema I had a smile on my face until the first guy flew into the tornado then my face went to horror as I was not expecting that
I could be wrong, but I personally think expert storm chasers would agree with me if I said they should've called it off when they realized how poor visibility was. Some of the best and most experienced chasers ever died because of high precipitation storms like this one.
I was in a house in Upper Hutt - New Zealand - in 28 Dec 2003, struck by lightning, at 7am and the power meter last three digits were "700" - how cool was that?
“oH tHiS mOviE WiLL nEvEr bEaT tHe oLd cLaSsiC” “uR WrOnG, tHe cGi iS sO bAd” “hOw cOuLd YoU LikE tHiS fiLm?!?!” SHUT UP!!!! Let people have opinions! 😭😭😭😭
Twister was lowkey my favourite but the confusing part in my perspective if the last tornado they hunted before the window ends like was it the el reno tornado or just a ef5 tornado?
I've got a theory about how they got the dorothy probe that I think is pretty interesting. Addy is Jo and Bill Harding's Daughter. What do you guys think??
Or it’s left over from the university they built the original four. The fictional Muskogee State University’s logo is on Dorothy V and the previous instruments, as well as one of the chase team members in the previous film. The fact that Dorothy V exists means that their research continued after the end of the first film
At a push, it could be plausible. Jo's Character was like 34 or so in 1996. Say she had Addy at like 43 a few years later. But would still make Addy too old. If you follow the rough timelines.
It definitely shows how deadly nocturnal and rain-wrapped tornadoes are. One cloaked in complete black darkness and is only illuminated by lightning nearby and one that’s only visible by either power lines or transformers being destroyed. The film conveyed the fears and how deadly both of them can be.
"Chasing a monster tornado turns deadly" Well that is a shock. Who could have possibly predicted that pulling up alongside one of the most chaotic and destructive forces of nature would backfire?
If you compare this movie to the original Twister it's a joke! 1st the young lady uses poor judgment all the way through the movie unlike the first one, and then they give up on a tornado chase to go tell people to take cover because you know they're not gonna know to take cover you know Bing twisters coming?! She literally in the movie got her entire team killed in the beginning of the movie and yet it's still revered to be a tornado sniffer and yet she's really not at all!
Unlike Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt, I feel that these actors look a tad too young for the knowledge and experience expected of such tornado experts, accentuating story fiction over factual realism.
I don’t like seeing the young man getting swept away to most-certain death. Less importantly, I don’t lake seeing a nice Toyota 4-Runner getting wasted either.

You clearly did not see the 1st movie twister you may wanna watch that you'll change your attitude!
“Ever since you got struck by lightning you’re no fun”
“Yeah, well, that’s what happens” 😂😂😂
Was that supposed to be a good line or something?

That region of rain rapping around the tornado is called "The Bear's Cage", if I remember correctly.

Ok so where are you going to go? the car got yeeted and so did 4/6 of her friends in a open field, smart guy?
You talking to me?
Looking back the overpass really was their only option. The only other place wood be a ditch but it didnt look like there was one. What I am mad about is how they didn’t say more about how bad of a hiding spot it is.
I liked that they hid under an overpass because it shows the audience that an overpass is not the best option.
It’s feels great to see twisters back after it’s debut in 1996❤❤❤❤
Now more racist and sexist!
Loved both Twister movies. Also liked Night of the Twisters from February of 1996.
6:30 dude you can see the tornado in the reflection
Yo, you can! That thing is huge!
I can't wait until it comes out on Blu Ray in October
I streamed it on MAX
it’s on onstream
Nature is so beautiful, yet she can be so deadly. Respect the wind! Best ride of the summer🌪️

Wow Dorothy is still in the cast!

It's nice to have a movie that was made in 1990's and bringing it back for so long.
Omg not many movies give me the roller coaster anxiety, the clip ended too early, should make the clip an hour and a half
The special effects were mind blowing.
i've already watched this movie, you should too
It was a amazing movie
Me in theaters: "Oh snap, Sally Draper's this movie.... Oh...."
This was a good movie, I liked it better than the original.
Good movie but wrong. Doesn't beat the original
The longest Tornado movie ever!
You wrong....the original is the best...... Twisters good too.... But the old is gold
Eh, I wouldn't say that. But, still a good movie
@itzbp9949 thank you someone with brains I fell asleep on this movie
Great opening to the film! I’ve seen it in theaters 3 times!

I would never want to be a Storm Chaser...I would be scared.
The thrumming sound when they passed under the tornado was a trip, They made sure that you could feel what her instinct for storms was.
The end of the clip gave me an Uplifting Feeling.
Was this part to replicate the Reno tornado that became a EF5 without chasers knowing?
I love it and it’s way better than the OG
Kinda wish they woulda used the original truck for the movie especially in this clip would have made it that much better
Definitely not inspired by the 2013 El Reno Tornado
I love the majestic music when there running away from the ef 5 is so dark 😮
The original is always gunna be better

I missed the first 2 min of this when I watched this movie in cinema (cuz I was late) . But it is still an amazing opening.

I always remember what Jo “you have to punch the core otherwise it won’t take it”

"Chasing a monster tornado turns deadly" Well that is a shock. Who could have possibly predicted that pulling up alongside one of the most chaotic and destructive forces of nature would backfire?
They thought it was just gonna be the strength of an EF1 but it quickly evolved into an EF5 level
How is it that twisters, fissures from earthquakes, and lava always follow the main characters' vehicles?
They placed it in its path and they were still driving in it's path
Also if you were in that situation you wouldn't be the main character
I’m not trying to start and argument with anyone I just thought the first one was better and what made me mad was they didn’t kiss at the end.
I feel like a kiss would feel cheesy. They did in the first one I think that's good enough.
