What would've made it even more perfect was comparing it to Spider-Man 2's fast travel lmao. It's like night and day.

And the awkwardness of it was top notch!
It’s the part that sucked out what could’ve been an awesome experience, obviously the fun part about open world is … it’s open … so getting to explore/travel to nearby planets should’ve been a feature.
Fast travel could still exist especially for more distant galaxies and such.
I bet insomniac wished they were able to fast travel away from the game award after spider mid 2 didn’t win shit😂😂😂 even after having 7 nominations 😂😂even Mario wonder got an award how embarrassing

Starfield didn't get snubbed. Bathesda just got itself humbled. Just because you HAD a GOTY does not automatically make your next game a GOTY... Unless you're Fromsoft... cause FromSoft actually finishes their games.
Sorta kinda. When Elden Ring launched, FromSoft shut down all the servers for the Dark Souls games for more than a YEAR. Don't forget that EVERYONE makes bad decisions sometimes.

Spiderman 2 and Re4 don’t deserve it. Spiderman 2 is inferior to the original, no innovation at all, samey combat, boring side activities, boring open world, worse story, MARY JANE SECTIONS WOOOOOOO THATS WHY I PLAY SPIDERMAN TO PLAY AS HIS GIRLFRIEND WITH THE MAN JAW WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, woke pandering out the wazoo and bugs. Re4 is a remake of a 20 year old game and it just feels cheap that it got nominated over original titles like Hi Fi Rush or Armoured Core…
@bandanna2388 dude they added so much, the travel system got web wings twice the speed for web swinging, air tricks recharging air dashes and air jumps, the combat has parking and has gotten rid of the gadget wheel of death,[its 4 abilities and 4 gadgets abilities you can switch out between arms or symbiote or venom vs the new negative infused venom power [I can't remember the term they used for it] on top of how fucking good the graphics got jumped up, and the story is great throughout the only thing you can even call a bit woke throughout the game is everyone in a while one of the guys you carry back to an ambulance says they have to tell their boyfriend about you and 1 side quest that's what 10 minutes? Of one guy high school getting miles help for asking out his already boyfriend to prom or whatever? You are really sensitive to "woke" politica if even the slightest representation of a gay dude bothers you this much the only other shit would be some painted art on walls but I don't even know if there is even something to be considered "woke" on those designs off the top of my head. Also MJ missions were made really easy so it wouldn't be as boring playing as her, you get a 1 shot gun basically and she got training from silver Sable so she's able to keep up a bit which is atleast somewhat excusable and the rest of making her op is almost certainly just so people don't complain about playing as her as much which also has what 3 sections where you even do? I think it's a well made change of pace, some of my only "problems" with the game is new no game plus but that's incoming shortly and that they didn't include anything with more of Miles illusion of guitar hero mini game, super small stuff because the game was amazing and is definitely my GOTY granted I haven't played nor seen much of Baldurs gate so idk much when it comes to that game besides generic stuff I've heard of how it's gam packed with lots of different interactions and small details that change little to huge things plot wise in character creation or actions so I could see that winning and I'd be content with the loss. Any of the other options I'd be a lot more annoyed if it beat MS2 tbh though.

Look i'm not the biggest Starfield fan, but he did have a point about Resident Evil 4 being there for some reason.

Yes. But A Remake being a better Game of The Year than Starfield should show Bethesda that there game is really not that good. No matter what Todd thinks about that. And Bethesda crying over probably deserved Bad reviews about the game doesn't help them either
What point? The game is good. It being a remake doesn't change that.
I'm going to be honest, if we're going to complain about RE4 remake being there because it's "Just an updated version of the game from 2005", then both Tears of the Kingdom and Spider-Man 2 don't deserve to be there because on a surface level they're not much different from their predecessors.
If it's a great game, it's a great game.
A fantastic remake is better than a good new game. That simple.

"Maybe it crashed" describes my life with Bethesda. Love most of the games, though the love is laced with anxiety, best enjoyed a year or so after initial release, and requires a quick save every 5 minutes so the inevitable corrupt save doesn't set me back too far.
Armored core VI absolutely deserved a nomination.
More niche than you would assume, Hogwarts is the biggest snub.

actually because its not, thats the problem. Around every corner in Skyrim is something interesting. In Starfield its vastly empty. In Skyrim you have to explore to get fast travel locations. Starfield is literally fast travel simulator.

BG3 deserves game of the year, rpg of the year, best studio for larian, best performance for Neil. Anything other than that is a blatant steal just like what happened in 2018 with RDR2
People were saying it shouldn't get it because it's needed a lot of patching, which is true, but they've been on top of fixing the major things that need to be fixed, and Larian is a great studio that does great work.
@@WafflezDay Did it "need" patching? Sure there have been a lot of improvements in their patches, but the game was completely playable. There weren't any major game-breaking bugs (at least not that I heard of or ran into). And if they're going to discount games because of patches, there's not a single game ever that would win. Maybe Pong?

I like Astarion and his performance buuut... Id personally prefer Raphael's performer (maybe role too secondary? still his overall presence and the song in the boss fight made me feel more things than anything in gaming for very long). I also technically prefer Shadowheart as a character to Astarion but I love them both tbh.
@@narsil1984 Honestly every single performance in that game is worthy of an award. I think Astarion gets the most attention because he's the most dynamic character. But every single BG3 character feels alive and unique, and that's due to the great performances of the actors.

Plenty of games arguably got snubbed this year: Street Fighter 6, FFXVI, Pikmin 4, Hi-Fi Rush, Dead Space remake, that's not even counting any indie games. Starfield just isn't one of them.
What's really funny is that Spider-Man 2 came away with absolutely nothing at the game award😂
Same can be said about Alan Wake. I mean, he was trapped in the Dark Place for over a decade. Guy stopped shaving after a while and just got that rugged look to him.
And rightfully so it was a garbage game.
Baldurs Gate 3 was just leagues above these games. It probably would have won even more but they didn’t want it to win almost everything so gave some other games some wins too
@@brianb152 Okay come on. I know this is mostly because of how SM2 fans have been acting lately. But its not a bad game in fact its a really good game. It deserved its nominations. It was really good at a lot of stuff it just wasn't amazing at anything. So it wasn't able to break the threshold to win those awards.

Something about Starfield roast Mario Wonders concept stolen from Rayman Legends is so satisfied. Not satisfied it said stolen (maybe aside the world and the acapella high pitch piranha plant and i didn't even consider Nintendo stole the idea),but someone acknowledge latest Rayman game and it still one of the best Rayman game.

Maybe it's because I expect more from a AAA studio - especially one that has put out so many games I like. Maybe it's because I expect more from a game that I spent $100 on (stupidly I got the deluxe edition, which I got a refund for). Maybe it's because it had the misfortune of coming out alongside one of if not the best RPG of all time. But whatever the reason, I can't even call it "just ok". I found it boring to the point of being insulting. There weren't any obvious problems, no bugs or anything. It was just painfully nothing.

For real though, really nice lineup for GOTY. As much as a Spiderman fan I am (and it's hard to give proper judgement since I haven't bought the next Insomniac game yet), I wouldn't mind if BG3 is the winner.

Baldur's Gate is absolutely the favourite to win this year from the sounds of things. But do not detract from the fact that these are all phenomenal games that are worthy of praise and your attention if you can spare it.

The main issue is that Starfield doesn’t tell you that if you ignore the planet exploration and basically play it like Destiny, it’s a great game.
THAT IS A PROBLEM WHEN LITERALLY HALF OF YOUR GAME IS ABOUT EXPLORING SPACE.
I only played it about 10 hrs on gamepass. Which I know isn’t much but between that and watching videos of it I felt it is a decent game but it’s a case again of Todd overhyping it as the next big then when imo it’s really just fallout/Skyrim mixed with no man’s sky. Against the other nominees this year it was just a good game. Spider-Man was gonna get nomination cause regardless of opinions it is more of the gameplay from 2018 with some additions and is solid and well it’s Spider-Man if it’s a good game about Spider-Man it is gonna be up for awards lol. Re4 remake to me was nominated because it is one of the the best remakes in recent years and for the most part lived up to the hype for fans of the og re4. Mario wonder we’ll it’s Mario and solid. Zelda regardless of opinions it did bring a world of possibilities on how to approach Hyrule few games over the years let you be as creative wi th it’s world as totk does. To me I figured bg3 would win but ultimately figured it by some chance it didn’t it would have been totk or Alan wake 2. Starfield though just didn’t match with the other nominations for many and I mean regardless of fan opinion critics ultimately decide the nominations for the game awards
