Thank you once again with an POV of Highway 18.Looks great the fire is slowly going down, stay safe Nick!!

I never thought I would say this but pink is my new favorite color.
Sorry to hear about your father. My condolences to you and your family.
I appreciate that Marian. It really was pretty amazing. I’m right there with you. And again, I really appreciate the love and support.
I'm so sorry about your Dad. I just lost my very old coyote named Willow on 9-11. She was 13. We live in Big Bear and my heart is broke.
Carol thank you for the support like that. I appreciate it and let me just give you my condolences. My pets are everything to me. Absolutely everything to me and I am so sorry for your loss. I hope you can get through this because this is a very difficult time.
So sorry Carol! 🥺
Wow, great! 18 was ok too!!! Very smart of snow valley to use their snow guns to help fight the fire, and seeing so many fìretrucks made my heart swell. Ive always ADORED firefighters, theyve always been a part of my life since losing my friends in a housefire back in 91 when i was 8 in Bear City, and those firefighters did everything they could to save the Blue Children and the cabin.. but now i adore them so much more because of what theyre doing to save our mountains. I love you so very much firefighters. And Nikk, your videos do NOT dumb us down, they are theraputic and beautiful. And you are a good person. Thank you Nikk. Say hi to Rachel!❤
Hahaha. Your awesome MPW. I appreciate it thank you for saying that and I mean seriously how awesome is that that they were using their snow guns as fire extinguishers I thought that was brilliant. and definite, huge blessings to all these brave men and women kicking fires butt
@@bigbearweatherandmore6621 amen brotha! They are so brave. And they have the hearts of lions! Anyways, I hope u guys have a beautiful afternoon ❤️
Thank you so much for the drives of yesterday and today. We live in Yucaipa and got hit very hard with orangey brown smoke when the fire was in the beginning days. I was wearing a wet towel around my head to cover my nose because the smoke was so bad. The upper part of our town near highway 38 was threatened. I am so glad to see that the towns up on the mountain look great. You performed a great service so that people could see what is going on up there. Thanks again, and I hope that you get some sleep, and I am sorry to hear about your dad.
@@sdcrilly you are such a nice person thank you thank you thank you and I am so glad that you’re not dealing with that really awful smoke anymore. That must’ve been pretty scary for you and especially knowing the fire was coming and heading in the direction of Yucaipa and Mentone, I’m just really really happy that they’re doing a great job containing the fire. We are at 49% containment so there’s still potential for things to blow up again but I think it’s very minimal at this point.
Thank you again for your kind words
I'm glad the weather cooled down a bit..I'm praying this fire disaster ends my best bro. I love you soo much! Stay safe with this risk!! Your fantastic father's spirit lives through you, as I can see your dedication and strength!

Hey there Tavisola.
First of all, I am so embarrassed that I didn’t see your comment. I’m literally going through every little side channel on my page to snuff out comments that have fallen through the cracks, and this was one of them. You know I pride myself on responding to every single person and not just copy and paste every comment is very personal to me and I love you guys with all my heart and this channel would be nothing without people like you and that’s a true statement
Now to address your comment I really appreciate your support. I’m really struggling. This is really difficult for me. I know I’m not alone going through this. I know everybody goes through this or at least 99% of the population, but I’m really having a hard time once it’s night time I’m in tears nonstop and right when I wake up in the morning, it’s the worst because it takes me a few seconds to get my mind going and then I start thinking about my dad immediately , it’s just the most harsh and painful experience that I wish I could trade with my dad I’m so sad and thank you so much for showing me love and caring so much about me to leave me such a wonderful beautiful comment straight from your heart you are an angel and my gratitude for having you in my life is huge
I hope you have an amazing weekend and again I’m so sorry I didn’t see this comment until now but I want you to know I really do feel sincere compassion and I’m just so thankful to have you in my life my friend
PS. Regarding the comments, here’s another issue. If you respond to this response, I will never be notified and I only go back maybe five or six videos every single day looking through the comments to make sure I don’t miss anything so what I request from you is if you do respond, please just leave me a comment on any video so I get notified about it and I will know it’s a continuation of this conversation.
But thank you so much for being so loving and I wish you nothing but I wish you peace and harmony in your life every second of every day and just thanks again for being in my life thank God
Nikk....Thanks again for the update.
Can't even imagine how those home owners felt as the fire crested over the top of the Mt toward their homes!
I personally felt fine about heading towards my house. The house is a wreck and I have good insurance and I have nothing in the house currently. But I also am in a very nice neighborhood and I don't want anyone's house to get touched. As it would have to burn down the whole neighborhood to get to me which would be horrible.
It was a scary fire because it was in so many towns, or so close to so many.
Bob , can you imagine how scary that must’ve been I think at that point they were evacuated or supposed to be but the people that stayed I can’t imagine what they were going through
@@extralock1045 it’s a tough situation, bro. It really is. It’s a really tough situation and when it affects you decision-making might be a little bit different.
I cannot thank you enough for posting this video! I grew up in Running Springs, and after high school and failed attempts at College I ended up living at various times in Crestline, Lake arrowhead, Twin Peaks and Green Valley Lake. I graduated Rim of the World High School in 1984. I drove all over that mountain for years and could follow along where you were at every single step of the way like I was driving and remembering everything myself. We used to ditch school all the time and run down the hill to the Old Shell station on the corner of Orange Show and E Street to buy beer. Just before you got to that Inn that you were mentioning there was a little flower shop on the left hand side that I worked at for years which caused me to drive all over that mountain delivering flowers every single day. The Inn that you mentioned brought back a memory. They used to have a lot of weddings there, and probably still do in that gazebo that looks out over the entire valley. I used to deliver flowers and set them up for dozens and dozens of weddings during my time. One time I asked the Proprietors of the Inn if I could leave all of the flowers up after the wedding was over on that particular day and then bring my then-girlfriend over there and have dinner waiting for her in the Gazebo and they said yes. Great great memory that I haven't thought of in so many years until you brought it up in your video. It certainly looked like Running Springs was dumped on with the retardant but that's probably what saved the vast majority of the town. Just FYI unless it is closed down there was a full-size Jensen's in Palm Desert, at least there was in 1984 and 85 when I was attempting to go to College of the Desert. Oddly enough, the girl that I had to that gazebo overlooking the valley at the Inn that you mentioned was a deli girl from the Jensen's in Blue Jay.
Jeff, you’re welcome bro and you have had quite the history in this town or I should say this mountain range. When I was 10 years old, my mom got a vacation home in Lake arrowhead for five years and we would come up from Newport Beach and I absolutely fell in love with this area and that’s the reason I moved here was because of those memories. But again, memories are the most aspect of me living here.
When I was younger, we would drive that rim of high school was always so jealous that the kids got to go to school there Went to school right near the beach, but the view that you guys have was always so jealous of that
I’m super happy that I was able to bring some nostalgia into your heart and it’s good to have you here Jeff
@@bigbearweatherandmore6621Thanks for the reply. Yeah, at least in the 80s the massive rivalry on the mountain was the football teams for Rim and Big Bear High. It was such a different time back then but there were fist fights and I think every single game that I ever went to. All in good fun and nobody ever really got hurt but that rivalry at least back then was super super real lol...... Glad your town was spared!
I really appreciate everything that you have been doing to keep us informed and letting us see with our own eyes how the area has been impacted. Especially those of us who grew up in California but don't live there anymore. I am so sorry about your dad passing away.
Cynthia. I appreciate that very much and I’m happy to do this for you. I’m happy to do this for everybody who is getting something out of it
I remember during the radford fire in 2022 they also used the snow making hoses to run water to the mountain, it stopped the fire from getting to the base lodge and most of the mountain. I don’t know how many more updates which is a good thing
The mountain is not the same (Lake Arrowhead area). So many people moved up here with their same city mentality, not everyone but its noticable. We had major electrical work put in because the mountain wasnt set up for so many people. People I know dont get why tourists come here because there really isnt anything up here but some restaurants. The village took out the kids Lollipop Park for the concerts that now charge a ridiculous amount of money. Used to be totally free and not overly crowded. At least Big Bear has more to do and see.
Aloha my friend. We are on the same page my friend. I moved up here to be part of the Mountain community and leave everything down below. I couldn’t agree with you more unfortunately people bring their down the mountain mentality and keep it up here and I think a lot more people would have a lot better peace of mind if they succumb to Mountain living and stop holding on all the hell from down the mountain
Aloha my friend
They really did their work to make sure no fire hete

Wow. 😢 thanks for updating us. 💔
Sammi my good friend it’s the least I can do and I’m happy to provide some visual information for people
looks like it was all sprayed from the road
Hey Chris, I didn’t know that that’s something they do but that would make sense of course the first part right when I got into running springs where the 18 meets the 330 that looked like it came from above, but I think you’re absolutely right. They probably were spraying itout of a vehicle I’ve never seen that before, but I think you’re right man that would make sense
Another great video bro! Just curious, I heard that the Line Fire created its own weather. Would this type of “fire weather” be considered the “and more” statement in the title of your channel Big Bear Weather “and more”?🤓🤔and greetings from the Welk Resort in Escondido where they are putting out the Lithium Battery 🔥
Dude that’s a great point and I wasn’t even thinking about that much but you’re absolutely right that fire did produce its own weather. There were numerous lightning strikes because of the storm the fire storm you are absolutely 100% correct bro.
What’s going on with lithium battery down there?
@@bigbearweatherandmore6621 Not sure but I think it was a lithium battery factory…pretty sure it’s out…but those batteries are dangerous whether it’s on your Makita or on your E-Bike, be sure to charge and store them out of the sun in a cool place, they will cause fires and or go dead if not handled properly. Good to hear Snow Valley was utilizing their snow blowers to fight the fires! And I feel you bro, I used to trip out scared as a kid driving up the 18 in the Country Squire station wagon coz of the fog! Almost as scary as the Pirates of the Carribean, I actually thought I was ducking bullets on the ride when I was 5 years old😅
Do you think landslides will be common this winter?
Yes. And probably next winter as well.
Definitely wherever the fire was raging, but other than that, I think it’s gonna be pretty average and pretty normal in most areas of the mountain range but that’s a really good question. I haven’t thought about it much.
@@bigbearweatherandmore6621 Where the fire burned, maybe there could be snow slides too? No trees to hold the snow in place. Not sure how avalanches work.
I agree anything is a plus for the firefighters
Amen
Got dang nikk that drive was so insane you cant see much in front of you…..yikesss🥶
@@Dontae_777 dontae that is exactly why so many people do not like driving up the mountain and I do this stuff all the time but yes it is extremely sketchy sometimes and imagine when it’s winter time and it’s below freezing outside so terrible
So tell me, my friend did you guys get that snowfall that you were hoping for? I sure hope so.
@@bigbearweatherandmore6621 yes and no-in Yosemite National park it snowed but wasn’t much. I heard from a friend that lives in shaver lake that it just rained pretty good over night. The snow was at 7000+ feet in elevation.
Dang is that smoke or fog?
@@israelcrafts25 Israel, my friend this today this was clouds. I’m sure there may have been a little bit of smoke mixed in with it, but it was predominantly clouds.
Thanks again!
Raiya you are very, very, very welcome, my friend
Hi Nikk . Yea I heard the ski resort used their snow machines . That was smart. This is going to sound stupid but what happens to the animals when that red stuff falls on the animals. Do they get sick, or does it hurt their eyes or if it gets in their mouth? Just curious.
I was wondering the same thing and I’m sure it can’t be good because I believe that stuff sucks the oxygen out of the air where it’s sitting and it’s really sad. I’m pretty sure it’s not good.
@@bigbearweatherandmore6621 yea I’m sure your right.
Thanks!
@@drpen3905 hey dr that is very very kind of you to do that for me. Thank you so very much, my friend. Haha I sleep with TV on
Nikk the red fire retardant off hwy 18 was sprayed by truck, that’s why you don’t see it on top of the trees.
@@johnnymcmahon1692 my Brother so I was wondering how they were so precise lol I didn’t realize that they would shoot that stuff off trucks because I’ve only seen it falling from airplanes. So that’s really good to know I’m assuming right when I pulled in to where Highway 18 meets the Highway 330 I’m assuming that was from above though correct? Because that whole entire area on the street was completely red but the rest of it that makes sense that it wasfrom a truck
Yea I’m like you, was wondering the same thing about being so precise & clear roads, I really just came to a fact it had to be done by truck or some kind of hopper
For spraying
I dig your channel my brotha

Around 6:15 how fast were you going? I noticed you were behind my car. Not mine but the same model of my car. They aren't really a fan of going up pills. It seems like they were hauling up the hill very quickly! Maybe even the speed limit?
From how it looks they were probably going 50 mph. Going up that steep Hill at that speed they are probably at around 5,000 RPM. Giving the Italian tune-up.
When I was up there this morning it was 29 degrees fahrenheit. Winter is coming!
That’s a good question bro. I have no idea. I know that whole entire drive. I was under the speed limit, but I don’t know exactly what I was doing. I remember at times thinking to myself my gosh why are these these people going so slow lol

Here's a suggestion without speaking. Why don't you play some George Winston or Alan Parsons Project while driving these mountain roads.
@@richardricca8012 Richard, my brother I freaking love you man. That’s a wonderful idea so check it out. If you go back to the first maybe three years of this channel I was playing all of my punk rock music in the background and they came a point where I got a strike usually usually they didn’t care if you played music they would just demonetize you and that’s something I don’t care about because this UA-cam channel doesn’t earn me much money at all so I don’t really care but I do worry about the strikes because some of the artists out there really do have a big problem with people playing their music.
I have to figure out a way to do this because those two groups so cruising around this town
Seriously man, you have no idea how much I want to have background music going, but I’m a huge wuss
If you have any suggestions, my bro, please let me know and not that you care, but I would give you all the credit in the world for finding a way for me to play music without having any risk I was luckily able to get the one strike removed for playing music but this is my whole entire passion is doing Weather videos. I always hope maybe one day it would end up paying the bills but no matter what I love it and I’m passionate and I have a regular business that I run for 8 1/2 years in Big Bear so I’m not really worried about that but let me know because I don’t want to get hurt at all.
The rules and regulations are so giving these all the credit and you would think they wouldn’t mind playing the music in the background because other people are gonna listen to it and really like it and scroll down in the description of the video and find the artist and end up buying their music
wow!! I am so glad I found your channel. I know Angeles and San Bernardino Forest well as my “backyard”! Family outings staying in Crestline and Big Bear. I’ve been a Fire lookout host, Bear Mountain winter host, and my most recent Green Thumbs for USFS as well as a hiker and backpacker. I miss and love just hearing the sounds of the road driving up. I’ve been wanting to go up so bad and watching your video sure brought back beautiful memories. I haven’t been able to go up these past two years as I am recovering from a bad fall down a flight of hardwood stairs totally breaking both wrists (hands not working), broken nose and head injuries. I can drive now but limited distance and no technical driving yet. It was so upsetting to see the fires from the OC and hoping people are safe. I loved watching your drive up.
