This Hasselblad PR campaign is definitely working. It's great to see photos from creators that I respect. Their cameras were something I've never considered because of lack of a mechanical shutter. But as their lens lineup grows, it becomes more and more appealing.
A decade from now we'll all remember where we were when the Hasselblad campaign dropped, with every name influencer getting their free camera and posting these gorgeous videos. They have single-handedly just completely exploded the box on what's possible, with 100 MP and 10k € now being something mere mortals are even thinking about. I literally start salivating when I open YT and see another Hasselblad video posted. 🙂 Nice work. Love your voice and chill tone. And Pt. Reyes, OMG. I used to head out there on my Yamaha years ago for the weekend, bottle of wine and girlfriend on the back. What a time that was. Not even thinking about cameras. Thanks for the vid and the inspiration.
Such an incredible opportunity that you very much deserve Sam! more than anything it's a testament to your ability as a photographer to use the tools given to create beautiful images, I'm excited to see more photos and content around this camera!
I've been absolutely lusting over this camera for months. Hasselblad's recent lens releases seem to be excellent offerings. It's exciting to know that you'll be fitting it into your future workflow. Looking forward to seeing what you capture using this tool.
Agree with your comparison of the X2D with Mamiya 7ii which I used to use for landscape photography. The X2D is perfect in many ways for landscape photography. Thanks for the review
Real good video Sam, really enjoyed your honest take and you mixed a little tech with shooting and showing your art. Too many tech gear videos are posted these days. I subscribed and liked. Hope to follow more of your work. Thanks for sharing this.
The Hassy and GFX are two far extremes I think for what they are intended to do. The GFX is a powerful workhorse and yes the Hasselblad is more methodical paintbrush. I sold my 500cm for the X1dii because of the price of film and I still wanted that resolution and slower shooting experience but with the canon r5c at 45 mp I wanted more. Sold the x1d and bit that bullet on the x2d and can not be happier. It’s phenomenal. The focusing is much better and IQ is second to none.
I’ve purchased and sold the x1dii twice now. And I loved the camera. But with the a7cr I have also I could no longer justify the marginal gain in resolution. But I have been tempted by the x2d since release. I may scratch that itch someday.
@@jharrelphoto even the 1Dxii Iq and pop was better than the R5c but they just looked different. The Hasselblad still edged forward in IQ and resolution from sensor size but the X2D is on just a while new level and category. It’s not even close.
@@jdpst20 that’s good to know. I felt the same way comparing my a7cr to the x1dii. I actually did a photo walk where I shot the same scenes side by side. After comparing them in post, the Hasselblad color and image was always on top. But I could tweak the sony to be close enough
@@jharrelphotoI had a Fuji XT3 for the longest time and I finally upgraded to the R5C for a hybrid shooting. Even that 45mp and the 50 of the X1Dii didn’t compare. The Hasselblad, has way more color rendition, and depth its apple and oranges. Add in the X2D at twice the resolution it’s in a different league all together and why I decided to upgrade from the X1Dii to the X2D. It gave me much more of a gap from my R5C.
@@SamuelElkinsPhotocan you still do some Videos with the gfx? Always loved seeing your work with it! You actually inspired me to get one earlier this year. ❤️❤️
As much as I like the hasselblad in concept - a camera that purely focuses on stills - it still makes no sense to me when compared to a gfx. Less features for more money. No improvements to image quality.
ah central shutter, ibis and also AF is better than on my 100s. Also their profile is legit. But still fuji is a great camera. AH yeah... somehow I like hassy lenses a bit more.
@@blazeboy777 i was comparing to the 100 ii. Ibis is at least as good, and focus is way better. The leaf shutter is a point, but to me it‘s more of a hindrance as adapting gets more difficult.
HEADLINE: If you want to learn anything meaningful about the Hasselblad X2D, look elsewhere. I was very interested in learning more about the X2D. I gave up after about 10 minutes of murky travelog video (why am I watching this man drive so much?) and a few example stills (mostly looking like shots I took as an 8-year-old with a $3 plastic film camera) with no discussion of the camera's performance, imaging characteristics, handling, etc., other than "it's like my Mamiya 6x7 film camera", which is a useless reference point to the 99.9% of photographers who have never shot with a Mamiya film camera. Here are the things I "learned" from this video: The Hasselblad X2D is expensive (duh), medium format (duh), favors slow shooting (duh - it's medium format), and has onboard storage (interesting). That's it. Even someone who knows nothing about the X2D would already know 3 of those 4 things going in. If you already knew about the onboard storage like I did, there is literally no valuable information in this video. EDIT: Here's the video you're probably looking for: ua-cam.com/video/8vqQnZgLQEs/v-deo.html
To be fair and provide another way of looking at this, I think there is a mix of photography content available on UA-cam. Most is technical and full of opinion (ie; what I'd call a 'review'), and I think it can make a nice change that some is also documentary style, providing some inspiration and seeing the camera used in real-world situations.
You ok my dude? Where did the Hasselblad touch you? Everyone knows the specs and features on these things by now, the camera has been out for like 2 years. This is EXACTLY what I want to see in a video... Someone sharing their experience is what matters at this point, not the tech specs. If you wanna see some detailed charts and graphs with no soul, hit up Gerald Undone.
@@labonnemedia Hasselblad didn't do anything to me. 2nd line of my comment: "I was very interested in learning more about the X2D." My complaint is that I didn't learn anything about the X2D from this video, not technical or practical. I saw someone using the camera and some example shots...that's it. I found the video disappointing, not the camera.
Maybe you should see it that way. At least the comment wasn't deleted here. Another UA-camr who had received the camera and lens as a gift from Hasselblad, his video was shot in Japan and I had pointed out the many disadvantages of the camera in the comment, only factual reference, was deleted.
Omg! What a timely video. I’ll be picking up this camera today from a friend who owns a camera store. Will be loaning it for a week since I’ll be going to a trip. Excited to use this camera!
Does it not look a little desperate when you have to give free cameras to influencer for positive coverage? But when you look at how Fuji GFX completely dominates the market for professionals it is also understandable . The entry into the gfx system is not more expansive than a high end Sony and some GM lenses while the Hasselblad system is 2.5x more expansive but does not offer anything better, as a fact you get even less, less performance, less functions like af-c and a limited line of lenses.
This Hasselblad PR campaign is definitely working. It's great to see photos from creators that I respect. Their cameras were something I've never considered because of lack of a mechanical shutter. But as their lens lineup grows, it becomes more and more appealing.
I've definitley noticed this too lol, but something about it seems much more natural and respectable than lumix marketing I feel like

Great video. I just bought 4 of them.

Are you suuuuure the closest camera you own to the X2D is the M7ii? You don't own any cameras with literally the same sensor? ;-)
