We painted a lot of EWS locos at Canton. When first painted, the red is lighter and brighter, but after some months in service, the paint actually went into a darker maroon shade
The colour of the loco doesn’t seam dark enough and hope the production version will be a better match for the heritage class 31 at the SVR.
Sounds good to me, but the locomotive is the wrong colour. It should be maroon (a purplish-brownish red), not this pinkish shade. Doesn't seem to be a white balance issue in the video, as the rest of the colours look correct.
Hi, I remember that layout being in Model Rail, and maybe Railway Modeller or Hornby magazine once, it kept my interest for weeks just looking at all the detail and features in such a relatively small space. Oh the new Class 31 isn't bad either, what's it doing on that layout I wonder. Nice video, all the best Dave.

I doubt it's the model itself... but the audio capture on this is very tinny? Doesn't sound very good.

For £50 less you can buy a Accurascale deltic with sound, Prices at Bachmann are ridiculous.

@NewJunction I have several Hornby 31s with sound and two Accurascale 37s on order plus several steam engines from others. I have over 250 locos - too many. I need to sell some before buying more. I have three in the post as it is! They look great close up and stationary but I doubt I will spot the new detail when they are moving around a layout.
