Shaw has been among the top 3 LBs in the league, if not the world for last 4-5 seasons. Technically, he's among our best players. Surely, thinking of his replacement shouldn't be as high considering we need better players in a lot of different positions.
Similarly, surely Wirtz can't be our #1 pick. We definitely need a 6, and 8, a RB, a CB, a RW and a GK before we buy a competitor for Bruno

Your attack isn't your problem. Your midfield and defence is your problem. you need a defensive mid and box to box. scotty shown that's he's capable but other than that you need a few reliable but shouldn't go just for big money moves.

Think the focus of this was more the obvious starter replacements e.g. RW,CB's/DM/RB where the positions havent really been upraded properly in recent years. It's obvious united will get some striker in the summer with Martial gone but it'll depend how Hojlund develops by the season end. If he develops quick yoou might look for your older striker like they had with Cavani to share the minutes if he still needs alot of work by the season end considering he's only 20 you might look for a more prime ready striker to lead the line and let Hojlund be a 2nd striker where he can develop but hes not completley relied upon.
Left back is far from a problem area at this point, there are many areas of the pitch united should concentrate on improving. Its no suprise Rashfords form fell off a cliff without Shaw behind him.
That 2003 generation is pure class: Musiala, Wirtz, Bellingham, Xavi, Bakayoko, Scalvini, Cherki, and so on.

He's a cross first winger which is rare these days. He has an end product but looks to supply before going for glory himself. Double digit assists twice in his career, he's the kind of winger that a player like Hojlund needs, not the wingers are Unite who NEVER look to pass.

i think united just need to sign youngsters, exciting players aged 18-24 so over the years they can build a top team cus the amount of times they spend big on players in their prime aged 28-30 and then within a couple years they need replacing and they win nothing from those players, short term it’ll be painful but most top projects are, pep and klopp didn’t win the league straight away they needed a season or 2 to build their team

The quality in Sky Sports has fallen off a cliff. It’s not just their football coverage
I think one of the questions it would be more useful or interesting to answer about the United conundrum is why do good players/coaches go to United and fail/struggle? Buying your way out with signings and looking for a quick fix is a short term thinking (and not even that is working)...... creating a positive environment in which players can come to work, develop, be encouraged, be protected from excess pressure (As much as that is possible) and improve technically, tactically and physically should surely be the goal..... some of the players United have signed are, I am sure, good players - Mount, Varane, Sancho - these are not bad footballers, they haven't had one good season..... there is something about the club that is not conducive to players consistently producing their best .

This geezer saying Shaw only has 2-3 "on his day" games a season - he must only have watched the 4-0,7-0,6-3. Yes those were poor performances but for the rest of the season (last season) Shaw was our 3rd best CB (YES CENTREBACK) during the CB injury crisis, and when at LB he kept us ticking. Got the Assist in the League Cup Final to sent us to 1- lets not forget.

The issue is a CB and midfielders who can control the game/keep the ball, then third most priority is RW as antony is a one trick Pony.
Build the team around Mainoo, Martinez, Shaw, Hojlund, Garnacho and we'll be alright. This isnt going to be a short term fix though.

The real question is whether these players would sign for Man Utd over any other top team that comes in for them.
if they sign him quickly then why not, that was only their own fault during past transfer windows where all journals and internet been leaking united is interested in a player but they were waiting to get the deal done for ages and meanwhile other team came up with a deal that's been done with 24 hours, nobody's gonna wait 2 months if they are ready to move on. and man united is still attractive, for fans that can be a club meme these days, but for young pro players chasing the dreams, it's still manchester united, trademark, elite football club, one of the most successfull in the world, if the youngster is ambitious then he can be excited of that challenge on bringing back glory days to old trafford and eventually after years becoming a great or legend in one of the biggest clubs in the world. and imo first of all, any player united has to get, needs to be ambitious, they don't need lazybones like sancho or pogba whilst they really have to focus on rebuilding, this is why city got rid of sancho, even tho he's gifted.

All of these are too expensive, United's issue is they keep buying these 80-100m players who are not anywhere near a finished product. They need to stop buying in to the hype and actually spend based on what a player can give you right now. And don't get me started on that Wirtz shout as the number 1 most needed signing. Bruno is literally the most creative player in the team and one of the best in the league even in that terrible squad.

It should be clear how much we have missed him in the first part of the season when he was injured and now he's back it's allowed us to at least look like in parts we can play the style of football EtH wants us to play with Shaw inverting and Ambrabat dropping to split the centre backs.

Man utd should get girona's manager instead Michel Sanchez, if ETH were to be sacked.
Because that manager use less resources (money). He has good idea how to play football and the team plays exciting football. Plus his contract is only up to 2024.
We don't need another manager that needs to spend 1billion to improve the squad even if that means to hire a "data driven manager" like graham potter.
What man utd needs is that
1. A creative manager/coach
2. A good scouting network
3. A good training infrastructure
If they are able to integrate all these aspects, then man utd can improve.
For example, the manager should be working hand with hand with the scouting department when they want to recruit somebody. Not because just the manager wants it. The manager wouldn't have time to scout and watch all other exciting talent all around the globe and at the same time train all his players.
Because if you sack a manager, you actually need a new type of player. So, if the manager can adapt to his players he can be creative and work his way out.
For training facility, they need to add the Virtual Reality to their training programme. In that VR, it has a football simulation program that can switch between in-game players perspective to a third person camera perspective.
This way, the players can benefit more about their positioning mistakes or their reaction mistake in previous games.

The other guy with bakayoko has a much better team. 80m for a defender is slightly too much when you can get tomori or Todibo for under 40m. Shaw needs to play CB we should get another CB

No one could’ve predicted how bad this season has been? It’s been this way for probably 4/7 seasons. Mess of a club and sale off the pitch… but yea NO ONE saw United falling apart again
