Yeah, audio only came out the right side, except when someone else talked, then they came out the other side. I was trying to sand some end-grain hardmaple+purpleheart the other day. Started out with my 150/3 sander with 80-grit, and the hardmaple endgrain was just laughing at me. You could hear it laughing. It sounded just like the evil cackling of Old Man Willow. So i switched down to Rotex (non-rotex mode) and 60-grit, and at least it stopped laughing out loud. More of a quiet chuckle now. But it still took a long time. I guess i should've dropped down to 40 grit? I keep some 40-grit around, because well sometimes you want to actually get something done. But i was scared about what those huge rocks in the 40-grit might do. Hmm, nice tip about the contour sanding. I have some of the soft interface pads -- maybe i should actually try using them?
Thanks for the fun classes! Love your channel! Can you be a little more specific about using Polishing fleece Vlies STF D150 white. I use them on my Rotex RO 150 to apply Odie’s oil finish. For some reason they do not last for too long - layers start to separate. Would appreciate suggestion on mode and speed. Thanks.
FWIW - since you mentioned audio changes, the audio is outputting mostly to the Right speaker and hardly any to the Left. @24:35 I heard somebody else speak into the Left speaker.
Hi guys. Absolutely love your products and this series. I get a ton of great info from these videos. I have been in the professional AV industry for 30 years, and would be glad to give you a hand with any AV troubleshooting you might need.
I haven't watched enough of these...but have enjoyed what I have seen. I need to look up the different types of sanders as well as accessories and the cyclone connection.
Also had problem with audio. Sedge’s voice only from right side others from left. That aside I really enjoy the series and never miss a episode. Thanks !
Love the 'tude dude! As I recall you checked the FastFix sanding pad to make sure there was no build up. How would you clean the pad if there was build up and "vac your pad" doesn't work? Like from hard burnishing. Anyone please feel free to answer as best you can.
Thanks for the information Sedge you have taught me something about sanding evan I do not have a festool sander but do have other products of festool keep up the good work 🖐
Thanks for the workup on the RO150. GREAT INFO. But what grit was sedge using on the timber flattening and what speed was he driving the machine and was it in aggressive mode? All the best from North London, England 👍
Sanding and finishing is a make or break last step that’s why I went over too festool sanders and dust collection, I have 5 sanders, I’ve got all kinds of brands of tools, but when it comes to sanding I only use festool.
Good morning Sedge, quick question un related to this show, the Festool pencil you are using are they available ?? From Australia watching this 30th April 2012 Cheers Kim
You mentioned using Granat on wood but your web site says Rubin. I just about to get a ROTEX RO 150 FEQ-Plus 240V and want to get a small range of discs. It will be mainly used for bare wood prior to putting on a finish. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
@@Painfulwhale360 well if you are looking for sandpaper that doesn't produce it's intended purpose in any meaningful measure of time then by all means "granat" away. And I have a bunch of grant wasting away here that I would be happy to sell to you .
Yes it is normal. Make sure you use dust extraction to keep it cool. We all forget sometimes. inlcuding plugging it into the festool extractor instead of a normal outlet.
I love all festool products but this sander has been nothing but a headache. I was sanding a solid wood panel on rotary mode and the sander stopped under gentle pressure. Once i restarted it the switch wont stay on rotary mode and it rattles a horrible noise.
Wow, saved and saved finally got the 125 rotex, ct 26, AND $200 worth of paper. Watc h this curly guy and now I'm ready!! Ready to put my little $79 Dewalt back in my hand!! What a piece of GOMER's pile. It vibrates horribly, bounces all over, swirl marks galore. I tried everything to keep it flat, I hold it just like CURLY says, no pressure, lots of pressure anybody want to help me with this or just ignore the moron that's got a problem!!!
This one session was a masterclass is sanding. I learned so much about the whole journey of sanding and finishing.
Yet another excellent Festool Live instructional video! Thanks for producing.
Hey Sedge. Great episode today. How about an episode on the polishing compounds that you can use with the Rotex and dedicated machines?

Thank you for this video. I was thinking to upgrade to a festool sander and did not know were to start.. 👍

Yes it is biased almost completely to the right channel. Please find a way to keep it centered.

I really wish they'd have covered which sander they were using which pads for... the pad colors on the site don't all look the same...
Hey Sedge. Really informative video. One thing that I'm having difficulty with is working out what speeds do you run the Rotex for sanding wood?
If I’m a woodworking hobbyist just getting into the Festool system of sanders, what sander do you recommend getting first?
Also had problem with audio. Sedge’s voice only from right side others from left. That aside I really enjoy the series and never miss a episode. Thanks !

With the surfix system going away will the Vlies be going away as well? And the foam Pads?

It’s a pica pencil! They are great!
Please make the sound stereo. Pleeeeaaaaseeeeeee
When sanding rough wood , when do you change from rotex mode to orbital , starting at 40 grit and going to 120
I switch at 80. Since its not a removal as much as a finish grit at that point. Sometimes 100 on something harder. Seems to do ok.

my tool supplier sells them by the disc. 1 or 100 they are the same price. phone around you might find one close.
3M cubitron sandpaper blows this stuff away!!
Are you sure? In my experience the Granat last much longer than the Cubitron.

i have a lot of older "paper" labeled "Brilliant" is it the same as you're paper?

Hope festool will make a audio system
Sedge never told us what mode he was on when saying that big timber.
Is it just me or is the audio real bad on this video?
Hi Sedge, informative as ever!
Steve
only right channel is working, hard to listen in headphones
Actual content begins at 3:45.
It is normal for the Rolex 150 to gets warm when you used.
Yes it is normal. Make sure you use dust extraction to keep it cool. We all forget sometimes. inlcuding plugging it into the festool extractor instead of a normal outlet.
Was only hearing you in mono. Great vid nontheless
Right, all I hear is the cameraman breathing like Darth Vader…
You do realize that most dust extractors have variable suction right? This is not a feature exclusive to festool.
Thank you so much for these videos. Festool has a gem in you as an educator.
Thanks for the tips

I think a would go with yoga guy, thanks.
Sound is too low
Audio comes to one ear! Not comfortable to listen.
Audio was coming from big d’s mic.
Very user friendly.
