I've never read a 40k book. Played the table top or anything like that. But I like your content. Keep it up.
Maybelline? Maybe he was just born with it 😉
So when will the Lion wake up from his cat nap?
@@akumaking1 He won't he's more powerful than Guilliman, can't have the Ultramatines being showed up by another legion.
Rogal Dorn is obviously the best ✊👊🤛🤜🦶
I chose dark angels as my first faction solely based on the name, but then I learned of the lion and his world of caliban, and I have never once regretted becoming a dark angel
You are a true son of caliban
@RedJay Pictures very similar to how I started I could never see myself playing any other faction
You can’t go wrong with space templar knights lol
My uncle supplied my first minis from his collection of beakies and he said I could have them if I painted them Dark Angels. I do like playing the Dark Angels but the “are they loyal” joke gets old fast and everyone seems to think they are the first to make the joke
even understanding you COULD regret it is cause for the need to purify yourself, brother
There is nothing Lion El Johnson and Roboute' Guilliman can't overcome when/IF they can actually cooperate.
Definitely
Hate to be a downer but that can’t happen without Sanguinius.
Would they overcome a united Perty and Dorn tho?
@@calebwhyte6957 I would say so. That’s my personal opinion obviously
Shame their rivalry get the best of them.
"The gift of common sense, so often forgotten by man, was gifted to the lion, thus making him the greatest of primarchs"
Man, is actually kinda sad that this is so true
Roboute has more common sense than the Lion, at least he can read the room and understand people's intentions
Common sense is the territory of the Great Khan
@@mattmark94 that's something that a lot of people tend to miss/forget that the lion actually grew up without *any* human interaction.
Even Kurze had more of that. killing them, sure, but he was still around humans.
Here you have a demigod, that is allready detached from the rest of mankind just by being a primarch, not having any socialization untill fully grown. Even then he was surrounded by people valueing honor, duty, and keeping secrets.
He wouldn't understand what makes people tick on a good day.
If He had common sense he may have accepted to keep conspirators away from fresh new recruits... But hey that's just the biggest mistake he had ever done, though maybe in Lion's credit he didn't want to just kill an old friend.
@@AAhmou Yeah like I would imagine not many people would be super composed or reasonable with the prospect of killing their dad/best friend. They also might have trouble accepting that they are doing wrong.
It's because he's named "The Lion" and Majorkill is secretly a furry
It's as the Druids foretold.
I second this
Nah Majorkill just identifies with the Lion because he grew up in space Australia.
@@hugoguerreiro1078 that too

One of my favorite lines from the Lion is when he was being tempted to turn to Chaos and his response was simply "loyalty is its own reward"
And he was talking to no less than Kairos Motherfething FATEWEAVER of all people, the closest thing to TZEENTCH HIMSELF;
"Loyalty is it's own reward" = DERP
My favorite Lion quote comes after one of his Dreadnoughts taps into and uses some ancient tank with a gigantic cannon to blow up an entire army of Fallen Angels. As Lion and his men watch the mushroom cloud consuming the traitors, Lion points and says “Such is the fate of all traitors.”
You just said, "loyalty is it is own reward." The OP was right you derp.

Most of the primarchs are retarded so that easy.
The interplay between Guilliman’s detailed planning & The Lion’s instinctive improvisation was awesome in the Horus Heresy. It would be even better in the current era because there’s no Big E or Malcador to adjudicate. 😎
I can see Bobby G and the Lion having a hell of a time strengthening the imperium. I personally want to see the Lion take no shit from the inquisition or the high lords and run the system as it should be ran.
@@indianasquatchunters You're assuming they'd work together.
@@ProjectEkerTest33 I mean with the way the Imperium is at even Lion El'Sperg would see that they had to
@@ironduke5058 Hmmmm. I mean he'd probably agree with Guilliman that the Imperium was a mess. But would he agree with Guilliman's solutions? The Primaris and a lot of other stuff Guilliman is doing could be seen as him trying to make himself the new Emperor
@@ProjectEkerTest33 That is true because he had a big problem with that during the Horus Heresy, he though Guilliman was trying to be the new Big E with Imperium Secoundus when he was just being logical. But where I feel like that falls apart is that the Emperor himself gave Guilliman his blessings. I mean he's even walking around slicing demons with the Emeperors damn sword, which to mention, has been sitting at his side on the Golden Throne for 10 millenia. Like bruh even the Custodes follow him and his orders when the only person they bow to or orders they even follow is the Big E's. Yeah he's probably not gonna be too comfortable with it but times have changed and I think the Lion would see that, this isn't the Horus Heresy anymore and Big E is fine with it
I personally enjoy Guilliman as a character he’s a pragmatist had a relatively normal childhood giving him a very down to earth vibe he can stay relatively level headed and his relation to his mom, adoptive father and the emperor is very sweet
He also, you know, not asleep on the job anymore!
he's a heretic
NERD!
@@GusMortis ULTRA NERD
@Vandals only an heretic would say that
I was really hoping we would get to see Lionel wake up in TTS, I thought that the mechanicius would blast those big speakers and Johnson would be awoken by their undoubtedly good beats
RIP TTS... I literally wept, what a horrible sentence for one of the best UA-cam channels out there.
One day... maybe one day...

The Lion has always been my favorite. He (and the Dark angels) really scratch that knight itch for me.
They should have wake him up already using the Vatican way of waking up the Pope where they tap his head with a golden hammer but instead of a tiny hammer it should be the thunder one.
I mean it's a 50/50 of him waking up or the imperium's worst Gallagher show

No Primarch is better than another beside Horus.
There has been more than 80books to explain why it isn't as simple as that.
Good, better, best are subjective. In my opinion the lion is the best. By the books they are all flawed and have certain strengths meant to compliment each other. But even then the lion is the first, so I stand by my original statement.
Lion El' Johnson is first among equals
@Les bons amis
That and the wings problem.
You can't spread the Imperial Truth with a litteral angel as Warmaster.
Sanguinius was quite clear about that.
Always liked the theory Lion was intended to be the warmaster but Big E chose Horus because of their connection since he was the first found and that was why everything fell apart
They both were great generals the big difference tho was that Horus had great charisma, he was able to talk to all the Primarchs in such a way that they liked and followed him. It was that charisma that was able to talk the others into turning traitor
Wasn’t alpharius the first one found?
@@supermotocj4107 Yes. Lion was first made. Not found. Horus was officially the first found. Alpharius unofficially.
@@cheeseburger12 This is a lie.
@@beardfistthegoldenone7273 everything with Alpha Legion is a lie. And Alpharious was kept secret when he was found via his primarch book. So everyone but the Big E and Malcador, Horus was found first.
Shaking in excitement thinking about the lion leading the military and guilliman over the government. Simultaneously worried knowing that GW is going to make it a bad thing somehow
The imperium has parallel to the late Roman empire, when it had split into western and eastern halves same way the Roman empire did The dark Imperium is almost to the western empire as the eastern empire is equivalent to the light Imperium
Everyone knows the Lion and Guilliman can't work together. The Lion needs his legion supplied and then pointed at the enemy so as to not interfere with grownup work on Terra.
Stannis’ theme always plays when he steps in the room and everyone instinctively kneels
Hell yeah.
We need someone to write a book about Primarch Bingo. This is some prime material.

Here again after finding out 30 minutes ago that THE LION IS RETURNING
He's back! Major cheek clapping coming in
This video is going to blow up again now that the Lion is coming back!
The Lion is coming back!
HE'S BACK
Love the Dark Angels. I also think that because of Johnson’s inspiration to his legion, heroes such as Supreme Grand Master, Azrael rose through the ranks and even had some cool moments of their own.
Seriously, what's better than a 9 feet tall human clad in a extra thick, durable and resistant armour with inhuman speed, psychic abilities and and unparalleled strenght: someone like that, but with a sword and shield, fancied as a knight and with tactical genius. That is Lion El' Johnson. Hope we'll see him coming back to help Guilliman out with the imperium.
UPDATE: 3/23/2023
THE LION HAS RETURNED.
He's back because he is pissed that his legion was saved by The Ultramarines
The Angel will always be my favorite, but i think the Dark Angel is one of the best and he's definitely my number 1 primarch to return
The dark angel is the primary angel.... it's in his title. Primaris angel mortis. First angel of death
The Lion is back baby! And this video was correct!
Dark Angels were my first Legion choice back in the day.
Why?
The name.
Then I read the lore, the history of the Lion and the order, the legion and the fall of Caliban.
I still love The Lion Luther and the dark angeks despite their heretical history.

The Lion is truly a badass in a universe of badasses.
The first and best Primarch has returned.
I liked Knights and the color Green. I picked the Dark Angels before I had even heard the word "primarch". I can happily say I've never regretted my decision lol
Lion El' Johnson should 100% return next. he would bring some much needed common sense back to the imperium.
Personally I love Dorn, the Fists, the Templars, and basically everything stemming from The Big E's other golden boy.
I just realised that Majorkill himself, that glorious face, could be the lion, have you thought of that?
Maybe the Lion's lost son? 😅

He's back :3
I've been a brother of The First Legion since I was a nipper.
Loyalty, is its own reward.
For The Lion ⚔
For Caliban
For The Emperor
Wow, I never knew the Lion like that. When I had to pick between my first founding space marines between Dark Angels and Salamanders, I thought I made a mistake since how dour they were. Which reflected their primarch since I had a hard time understanding him. Even with other loretellers
But if this waa the case, then I really misunderstood Lion. He was simply loyal and sane. Nothing at all like the 40k Dark Angels. Thanks for helping me understand the Lion better.
The Lion really is the best Primarch. Why else would his Legion have a while armory of Dark Age of Technology weapons.
You don't say. Well that is interesting :)
bc they were the first legion to be created and had all they toys perhaps?
too bad that the DA are useless in 40k: too busy chasing Fallens and screaming "We are *very* loyal!!"
Dorn brought in the Phalanx though. Arguably, that alone is able to take on the entire DA fleet... as you can tell by my picture I'm definitely not biased or anything lol
@@mattmark94 Yeah, they would be one of my top 3 loyalist legions/chapters, but them abandoning or outright attacking imperial forces if they "know too much" makes them seem a lot like bipolar renegades, and I love chaos (i like spiky demonic astartes and deamons), but DA portrayal is just silly sometimes. I can imagine Dark angels deploying with imperial forces to fight something scary and an Alpha legionaire sending them a message "there's a fallen in the neighboring sector" with a trollface, making them leave their allies or sth.
I'm a grey knight player, but the dark angels are easily my favourite legion (it helps that all their models are amazing)
1993 Space hulk game for PC is what introduced me to the 40k universe, and the space marines used were the Deathwing, the 1st Company of the Dark Angels Chapter.
The Lion was already my favorite Primarch. When I was building my army there was no question that I was playing the Knights of Caliban. Hunt the Fallen.
I honestly thought people would have thought him more generic. Glad to hear that people know he is amazing.
Maybe if you told us about the neckbeard cutting capabilities of the manscaper you might get more bites!
Also, the Lion is my favorite. Something about knights in space and big fuck off swords agrees with my european heritage.
Indeed he is back baby!!!!
Loyalty is its own reward
This is without a doubt, the greatest video you have ever produced. Lion IS awesome as you said, not just because of his abilities but because he just pops off the page and dominates every scene he shows up in. There is just something about him; his presence alone affects everyone around him and when he speaks, hell, even high-pitched battles stop in their tracks. Is he prideful and arrogant like some say? I don't know; I don't think he flaunts or revels in it... Luther once said that is simply is what he is: a unique being that is so far ahead and above everyone that it must be rather lonely for him. Definitely a marquis character to arise over the last several years and I can't wait for him to return. Cheers MK 🍻
HEEEEEEE'S BACCKKK
Majorkill!! Warhammer just announced The Lion has returned. You called it bro.
He's my favorite because of his beard. No knight lacks a beard. He was born with his. Any artwork with his beard gone is false-news.
I can confirm that he did not have a beard
You all know why you came back. The Lion has returned
this video popped up on my recommended list even after already watching it. Well the Lion has just been reintroduced at adepticon a few days ago.
I've got 8K points of Deathwing waiting for him to return.
I would love to see The Lion come into the game with three Warlord Traits like they've done with Magnus and Morty this edition. Dark Angels have some pretty flavorful ones I think.
Sounds like someone spelled "Corvus Corax" wrong.
And I'm still salty that Nykona Sharrowkyn, AKA the Raven Guard's answer to Sly Marbo, wasn't brought up in your most badass Astartes video.
Dude nykona was a straight up gangster mf but a bullet in Fulgrims head and took on alpharius himself dudes a legend one of my favorite character from the shattered legions
Agreed and well said
Currently reading Descent Of Angels and he is quickly becoming my favorite so far too.
I love his interactions with Girlyman and Sanguinius when they DA got to Imperium Secundus. The other two had no idea is Lion was there to execute them for betraying emperor or help organize them. Girlyman even almost feared the Lion

the lion would beat guilliman
Quick correction, Sanguinius didn’t arrive in Ultramar until a while after the Lion did. Otherwise spot on.
Any thoughts on getting a Tyranid or Genestealer model made at some point?
The "Major-Krill" swarm-lord could be a laugh :)

Finally you have opened your eyes majorkill, Lionel Johnson is the best Primarch the firstborn Primarch, rightful heir to the Imperium.
The dark angles are by far the coolest chapter.
By the way, I found out through some semi-quick research how The Lion got his name. He was named after English poet Lionel Johnson, who *coincidentally* wrote the 1893 poem "The Dark Angel", and it is his most famous work. Lion El'Jonson? Lionel Johnson? THE DARK ANGEL? Not a coincidence.
Back in the day most GW names were either a pun or a reference to some other work. For example Konrad Curze’s name and backstory is inspired by the author Joseph Conrad and his book “Heart of darkness”… and Batman.
Well you were right i
The lion waking up is when Abaddon has go back chilling in the warp again for another 10 millennium

it wasnt just the nuke. it was also the fact Luther took the dark knights and fought for Horus without Lions knowledge after Lion specifically told him to.
I’m so happy this is a thing. The lion doesn’t get enough love, everybody is usually too busy gargling vulkan’s balls or getting pounded in the doo doo hole by Konrad. Cheers, mate!
To be fair, at least Vulkan would say thank you and give you cab fare.
I love both Vulkan and the Lion though, they're supremely based. Gigachads to the extreme.
It might be that Vulkan, unlike many of them, was .ore approachable. The last guy who questionned the Lion got his head punched off, no ifs or buts.
Vulkan (if were going with the *aspects of the emperor's persona* theory,) was never meant to be a warrior.
Vulkan is humanity. Grounded, curious, affectionate. Hell even his upbringing gives away that as a litteral demigod, he did not conquer his home world. He became a friggin blacksmith. Because that was what his father did and that was what was most useful to his people.
Vulkan is who you should aspire to be.
The lion is what a good man must become when it's the worst case scenario.
he also doesn't have enough fenrisian's axe in his head but we don't speak about that !
Now the Lion is back I really want to see Russ back next. Honestly I feel like GW missed a great opportunity to bring Russ back when Magnus invaded Fernis. Then Russ emerging from the Warp is what could have prompted the Lion's awakening.
Who didn't already know our boy was best boi. The reunion of the Lion and Guillemin would be hilarious, especially if the Lion just acts like everything is normal because he is a spaz. G would be freaking out trying to figure out what is going on.
Lion El'Johnson was pretty cool, but Jaghatai Khan was an absolute Chad and very relatable. He wasn't a stupid savage like everyone thought he was and didn't associate with his brothers because of it. He's one of the few people who saw no problem with Horas bring War Master and didn't want the title. Plus his sick burns are legendary.
