    Fun fact, the Lion waking up in a forest is actually something somewhat spoiled for years before the reveal by a certain song that goes: "in the jungle, the mighty jungle, the Lion sleeps tonight."

    • @sadlerbw9
      @sadlerbw9 Рік тому +50

      Well, if the Eldar/Old Ones and the Emperor could both make an extra-dimensional space that existed in, but was separate from, the Warp then there isn't much reason why another group couldn't do the same. It's entirely possible that this forest dimension is the Watcher's take on a webway. If the Watchers were originally from Caliban, maybe the way they ended up interacting with the Warp was to create this webway fashioned after the look and feel of their own world, but theirs never got blown apart by the birth of a god or a misguided son. Any race powerful enough to create its own pocket dimension that interacts with both the warp and reality, but is separate from both should probably scare the shit out of a daemon, so it makes some sense.
      Is it in some way related to the the Emperor's webway project? I don't think so, but perhaps the Emperor bumped into it when making his own, or maybe met the watchers on Caliban and consulted with them on what he was doing. Or maybe, since the forest domain seems to have reflections of both the warp and real space, and seems connected somehow to both. Maybe the watchers noticed the Emperor's work or the Emperor himself being reflected in their own construct and met or interacted with him that way. I mean, it didn't exactly sound like the Emperor was fully existing in the forest domain. It was more like he and the other very powerful warp entities were reflected or represented in the forest. IF the Emperor had created this place, I would have expected him to have more agency and control in it. That's just my opinion though.

    • @jamesbuckner4791
      @jamesbuckner4791 Рік тому +15

      It very well could be that they are tangentially linked. Caliban may have once had a being that was linked to the first webway.

      Or what it is in the bequin books the area between the warp and realspace

  • @alecryan5962
    @alecryan5962 Рік тому +435

    I think it's interesting that every other psyker refers to the warp as an ocean or body of water, and it's represented in the forest as a river. It kind of implies that the Lion and Emperor are actually in some parallel space like the webway.
    The Emperor's great work was modifying the webway to make it suitable for human travel, and when Magnus broke into the throne room, he did so through the webway. The Emperor sitting in the forest on the bank of the river (the warp), keeping the shadows in the water at bay almost perfectly fits with him sitting on the golden throne keeping the hole in the webway closed.
    The webway reflects the mind and emotions of those who travel through it, so it would make sense that, to the Lion, it would appear as Caliban. It's also likely no coincidence that Vashtor re-built Caliban to act as a key to the webway. This is likely building up to a narrative around who controls the webway. All culminating in the return of a certain primarch who has been lost in the webway for 10,000 years.

    • @alecryan5962
      @alecryan5962 Рік тому +48

      @cadettrev762 I would suspect the Emperor's Children will be very important in the fight over the webway. Fulgrim may even return to the setting for that very reason. Abaddon and Vashtor now have a key into the webway, and the aeldar use the webway to hide from Slaanesh. Fulgrim will probably attack Abaddon's fleet to gain access to the webway so he can do unspeakable things to their souls. The khan probably shows up at some point, and they have a Lion v. Angron style duel and GW prints money by selling two new primarch models and a campaign series of books just like Arks of Omen.

He was even going to leave them alone if they refused to join him in defending humanity. His lack of interest in ruling was a big part of why many of his lost sons joined his side. The skill is essentially a shield bash that does damage and stuns the target. It's a strong skill that scales very well with gear, and paladins specializing in the skill become stunlock machines that run around bonking everything in the face. So fun fact, the whole „asking the right question“ is a reference to an old tale thats part of the King Arthur Stories, called Parcifal.
    In the story a boy meets an old dying king with his knights around him and the only thing that can heal him, the boy doesn’t ask him and carries on with his journey. Then after a long heroes journey he returns to this old dying king and asks him „was wehet dir oheim“ which means „whats hurting you uncle“. The king regains his strength and it is revealed that this king is king arthur.

    This is something I theorized when listening to Wolf Lord Roe go over a few of the primaris stories and how they act differently in comparison to first born even if they are marines that crossed the rubicon primarus. The primaris marines are more in tune with their gene-fathers true nature. When an already established Ultramarine took the procedure and had to slog through rough wilderness with a mix of marines and guardsmen he resented being held back by humans limitations and was then shocked to even have the thought. This seems in line with Giliman and his obsession over efficiency he feels held back by baseline humans. With the dark angels on the other hand, when a primaris stood amongst the leaders of his fleet interrogating a woman. The others were fine with her dying from exposure as long as they got their information the primaris marine ripped the cloak from his commanders back to warm her. I think this is the true nobility of the Lion taking root in his sons once again. The lion was secretive and brutal in the crusades because that was what was needed to perform his central role and root desire to protect humanity.

As for his Forestwalk ability; it could have been gifted to him by the Watchers as they saw he would need to be able to get around quickly and they refer to the place as their own home. btw, the type of shield on the emperors pauldron is called a "tilting shield", because they were used in tilting. Better known as the horseback lancing contest during a medieval joust.
    The point of these shields was protecting the otherwise unarmored arm pit and neck from splinters from the lance. which is why they were concave, bending away from the knight's body, in an attempt of deflecting the incoming lance to the side

A king has been dealing with a wound when he is visited by one of King Arthur's knights (again, I forget which and will try to find out). During the visit, he sees a precession carrying a spear; a grail (where the Holy Grail quests end up coming from), and one other item. But he does not ask as he does not wish to risk being rude. Alright, y'all convinced me. I bought it 5 minutes ago. @MrFallenone (or whoever), do you have any other recommendations? I've enjoyed the WH40k books I've read so far and want more, but I'm hesitant to wade blindly into the ungodly huge and mixed-quality body of work that is WH40k fiction.

    I will keep asking for this because if there's one thing that all 40k factions have it's stubborness.
    Could you make a video on how someone could *permanently* kill one of the 4 chaos gods and (more interestingly) what would happen if they did ?
