Waterproofing a Shower Floor

Once the Shower floor base has been installed, the next step is to waterproof it. This is accomplished by installing the Schluter Kerdi Membrane and sealing all the joints with Kerdi-Band or overlapping seams by two inches. The key here is that an unmodified thinset must be used with Schluter membranes and any seam or joint must have an overlap of at least 2". The order in which these are installed makes no difference the overlap is the only thing that counts. Templates are provided in the drain kit to use for marking out the hole for the Schluter bonding flange drain. All tile installed by Sal DiBlasi, Elite-tile Company, in the Boston North Shore area.
