That’s true, but there is another perspective which is that Netanyahu is equivalent in many ways to Zelensky in Ukraine. He is acting directly as an arm of the US implanting policy backed, if not originally conceived, in the US. If he really wants to be controversial, he should have the guts to go against the mainstream narrative. I'm sure it's always been biased in certain ways, but remember when once-very-respectable news like the BBC just told you things that happened, in a fair amount of detail, instead of focusing more on feelings than facts. Is there any news like that left now that doesn't primarily aim to emotionally manipulate people and shape people's views? Via ignoring history, focusing on one person/event rather than the whole picture, tearjerker personal stories for one side and not the other, and most worryingly a very intentional choice of wording things that seems coordinated across all mainstream news somehow (and with our government(s) which is a very bad sign, it's getting somewhat newspeak-y too with all this unprecedented this and unprovoked that).
At least the BBC aren't completely bad on this topic yeah but that's only because a lot of their staff sympathise with Palestinians, they're as bad as the others when it comes to topics that they don't feel personal attachment to.
At least there are people like this channel on the internet where you can at least get a different view and access to information you would never hear from mainstream media, and much longer more detailed and knowledgeable conversations. Thanks guys.

Piers asks, pointedly, 'Didn't Hamas *know* what the reaction would be?'.. Quite right they must have known, and this shows them to be ruthless. Continuing this line of argument, didn't the Israeli establishment and the rampaging settlers on the West Bank *know* that you can't humiliate people for decades on end, leave them without even a ray of hope of a dignified existence without the pressure cooker exploding? This was a really good set of interviews. Thank you for keeping it open to the things that are more factual than conjecture. The hardest thing to explain to people is what caused all of this because it goes back over 60 years to explain. The one thing that should be at the heart of all of this is a principle of peace first. Response to an attack? Of course but measured. The punishment should always fit the crime eg a measured response.
I'm American and am so disgusted by the support our government gives to Israel. This man makes such total sense and he should be heard by EVERYONE! Most pro-Israel people here, shouting the loudest, have no idea of the history of the region,even just he past 100 years. It's a horror having family members taken hostage or having died in bombings in Israel, but it's also a horror in Gaza to be bombed with people dying daily while not having food, water, electricity, or water. A horror not to be able to get medical care. And the poor medical professionals trying to take care of people with no supplies or utilities. There have to be have been lives lost among the medical professionals. It is definitely a VERY unequal war! People need to remember that "Hamas" and "Palestinians" are not interchangeable!

So glad that this popular canard that "Israel has the right to defend itself" is at last being raised, albeit by yourself, Michael, and not yet by any mainstream commentator. I would not wish to inflame the discussion in any way, but I think it is fair to pose the question - did the fascist forces occupying France in 1940 have the "right to defend" that regime against the justified responses from the French Resistance? They certainly had the will and the motivation to defend themselves, but the "right"; the 'right' to carry out brutal reprisals against civilians in acts of collective punishment? The judgement of History is that they most certainly did not. How will History judge Israel's claims to such rights?
