Golf Swing Details That Nobody Knows

  • The golf swing is a series of body positions which, when put into motion, must "match up". Matching up means that each positions of the hand, arm or shoulders has a subsequent position of the body part attached to it. This means that if your hand is incorrectly rotated, your forearm will also be incorrectly rotated. Based on this premise, bad golf swings are simply poorly executed positions with subsequent compensations.
In this video I discuss the details of the golf swing nobody knows and I show you how important the lead hand, thumb and wrist position is to the motion of the lead arm.
The Single Plane golf swing is not a quick fix golf technique. It is a system, beginning at address, that simplifies the most important moment of the golf swing - impact.
Starting at address on two planes where the arms hang straight down at address, the Conventional golf swing is complicated. Because the arms are hanging straight down, a conventional golfer must lift the body into impact creating stress on the back.
This upward movement to accommodate the two planes is unnecessary.
The Single Plane Golf swing simplifies the golf swing by eliminating the need for the upward movement by starting and impacting on the same plane.
To find out more about the Single Plane Golf Swing, you can find my book on amazon here:

Wow this video has just completed a major step in my single plain swing journey. This has helped me understand and complete my backswing. Everything comes through consistently now. Thanks for your content Todd. Living legend, Moe would be proud!

Thanks for the videos and instructions. Just tried this swing at the range yesterday. It feels so much better to me. I never could just hold the grips lightly and relaxed. I believe in the single plane swing. Now I just have to perfect it and repeat.

This! This is exactly what I needed to see. Thanks, Coach! I've been going back in your blog (which is fantastic, btw) and looking at the pictures of your positions with notes and realized I didn't have my trail ring and middle fingers in the correct place, which you confirmed here. But I never would have figured out that I had the lead hand totally wrong and too much in my fingers. Thanks again!

I've been working on the single plane swing for the last two weeks and it's incredible. I wish I found you seven years ago because my GIR, FIR and consistency are improving dramatically. I'm in Canada and doing a winter golf school, I know I'm going to have to justify the single plane swing, thanks for giving me the knowledge to explain myself.

Well, I watched your excellent explanation last night. Then went out and golfed today using the proper set up and grip. Wow, I shot 1 over par, 73 which happens to also be my age. I’ll be sending my card to GGA to add this to my Hall of Fame portfolio. What a great lesson, thank you. Oh, I used my new BioMech also. Love it and all you do.

I've been binging these videos all week and loving them! Question (I have many but we'll start with one)..what lie angle (toe up, down, flat) are we supposed to strive for on the irons? Follow-up question would be is there a check point to verify that we have it correct? Maybe there is a video already but I haven't found it yet. Thanks again for all the help!

    • @ToddGravesGolf
      @ToddGravesGolf  2 роки тому

Aj. Lie angle of the irons is based on you - and custom fitting based on your height, arm length, etc. You want the club to sit flat on the ground as much as possible.

    2 Questions:
1). Are Todd Graves' grips tapered or full?
I was recommended my grips to be 4 full wrap.
2). There is a bone between the wist and the hand's palm.
Is the grip under the bone and into the pad or is it above that little bone and into the pad.

    • @ToddGravesGolf

Grips are Tapered. Into the pad, under the lifeline.

I have similar size hands to you. I noticed there is a lot of space left in the hands when I put the handle across the heal pad. This leaves me wondering what to do with my fingers and I struggle to get them to put pressure on the handle. In fact the fingers in my left hand are often in a degree of pain. Do you think it’s worth considering getting jumbo sized grips on all my clubs?

Been experimenting with this swing for a few years now with a bit of success but always go back to conventional when I absolutely have to play good golf (shaping shots, short game, etc). Main question I have is why is there not a single successful pro player that uses this technique to make a living?
