Rick I started the natural golf swing many years ago, as a way to maybe hit the ball with a consistent strike. It worked immediately. I could hit 75 out of 80 balls on the range pure. Fast forward many years since and I was getting away from the basic start position and grip position and started miss hitting and losing confidence. Through watching Todd Graves videos I am now re learning the single plane swing and gaining the confidence back. Thank you I appreciate you and Moe and his legacy.
Hey. I just started the Single plane swing about a week ago and have already seen great results from just watching the UA-cam videos. My only issue is that sometimes I will have a shot that I pull right(I’m a lefty). What are some of the most common causes and solutions for this? Please and thank you for continuing Moe’s legacy.
I used to have the same problem. I found that trying to keep the back foot down was the cause of most of my issues. It made the clubface close too early as I could not get the hands ahead through impact. I learned this from one of Graves's ex instructors who teaches a similar concept named setup for impact golf. It helped me improve quickly. Still thankful to have found the concept through Mo.
One move that helps me get the correct tilt is to allow my right hand to slide down my right leg as I tilt. I discovered using video that as I tilted I was turning towards the target which was not good for getting to impact position, and caused some mis-hits to the left. Does that make sense Todd?
I've watched quite a few of your video's. You don't mention weight shift. Does this happen naturally? Is single plan swing easy with fairway woods as with irons & driver? Thanks, 68 and still learning. Randy
Todd, I have a super dramatic swing where I'm VERY wide and shift most of my weight to my back leg while staying pretty low and then guide the club through the ball. My wife said it looks like Moe's swing, but more dramatic but legs and club very much in line with what he's doing in his video's. She said if I were to drop the club, it would drop backwards. I just started randomly doing this about 10 months ago and noticed that the majority of the time I was straight and long. When I try swinging the conventional way, I get some good hits at times, but it's super inconsistent even though I feel like I'm swinging the same way each time. I feel like I'm way more prone to misses and hooks. If I had my wife film it, could you tell me if it's in the vein of single plain? I mean, if it'll cost me a session, no worries. But I'm thinking how frikkin' super cool it would be for me to figure this out myself and say 'holy crap, I'm doing what the greatest ball striker ever was doing and it's paying dividends!"
One action I rarely ever hear about is the whip of the club though golf swing. Some call it swallowing. I call it whipping. Rarely ever see any instructions on this ever.
Yes. Body tilt is for all clubs. Then form grip. Then take away to the top of back swing. Then swing through on the “single plane”. The grip will be key to square the club face into impact.
Is sidebend ultimately important because at impact unless you are sidebent it is impossible to get the club shaft and the lead arm to line up? Or does it relate to squaring the face? Or is it both?
hi Todd, I'm intrigued by the single plane swing. your last comment- tip #4- seems counter to everything that you said before. it's a simplified swing, it's easier. I hear claims of people seeing results immediately (maybe that one wasn't you). if those are all true, how much "putting in the work" should one expect to do to learn and become proficient at the swing? thanks.
Hi! I am not associated with Graves Golf. That said, I have been a fan of Moe since seeing videos of him from the late 80, early 90's. I tried to incorporate his principles and had minimal success. Life got in my way, and I had not played since 2017. I injured my left shoulder, and after several months of PT, I was not sure I would be able to swing a club. I came across Todd's videos, and I for several months watched everything I could piecing together the elements of Moe's swing. I had a pretty good grasp of what he is teaching. After I was dismissed from PT, I went to the driving range and tentatively tried to hit a bucket of balls. Amazingly, I could make a swing without hurting my shoulder. Even more amazing, I was hitting straight... Well, another injury. I stepped off my deck backwards and tore my left hamstring tendon from the hip bone. Another 6 months of PT, and watching more of Todd's Single Plane Swing vids. In late December of 2023, I saw Todd's video where he introduced the SP30 Course. I was willing to dedicate 30 days to unlearning my golf swing to be able to swing like Moe. I signed up for the February course. But alas... I did it AGAIN! This time, 2 weeks before the course start, I fell on my ass and had a compression fracture of L2. I had KYPHOPLASTY scheduled the second week February. I was able to follow the course however... procedure successful. Long story longer... The SP30 Course lessons are designed to slowly drill each fundamental to build muscle memory. You get the real details that systematically develop the Single Plane Swing. Because of my injury, I could not Cheat and slip off to the driving range to try out what I was learning. That is really a good thing. Dedicate 30 days to retooling your swing. When you get back to range and playing, you still have to be able to analyze yourself to be sure you are Hitting The Positions. P.S. I'm 71. I did really hit a dead pure shot and felt The Feeling of Greatness Moe talks about... it went 300 yards! This shit works!!!
Your shoulders look pretty flat in the backswing....is that what you want? Thanks for your videos! , im trying this out and its amazing how simple it is and how much easier it feels !
A bit of health advice Visceral fat:- Cut out the carbs. Try to, as much as possible Cut out or down on, All sugars and fructose. Pasta, bread, potatoes, pizza, vegetable oil( use olive oil), processed food, vegetable that the part is grown IN the ground. Food that says FAT free ( they add sugar to make up the missing taste) Eat :- Meat, chicken, fish, vegetables thsat the part you eat grows out of the ground. Dark chocolate (75%), Cheese, cream.. Count the total Carbs, aim for 100carbs daily then when happy with 'belly loss' aim for 200 carbs a day.
The swing is a mistake in itself. Moe spent many hours every single day making that swing work for him. His swing is not practical for other players. Many experts have already proven this. They also have proven the best players gave their own swings.
Like all golf coaches, you wasted over half the time in meaningless chatter instead of just demonstrating the elements you are teaching. For instance, in this video, you talked and talked about the grip and then never actually explained the grip. You wasted time saying how important the ball position is and then never actually explained the ball position.

Spot on!!
Thank you for helping me find a repeatable swing.
U r all over the place in ur presentation

@@OliBrown-bh2jp cool thank you
Possibly not shifting into the flexed lead knee??

Swallowing. lol
Do you have body tilt when hitting an iron off the deck?
Yes. Body tilt is for all clubs. Then form grip. Then take away to the top of back swing. Then swing through on the “single plane”.
The grip will be key to square the club face into impact.

Is there a training facility in or near McDonough GA?

address and grip is the crtical aspect with practice.

The guy behind you will meet with success because of persistence… the very first fundamental idea

Sorry Todd, you need to show more and less talking
Thank you
I agree more show less talk

Haha, if he told us all those things no-one would sign up for his program. $
tuned out half way through talking.
You talked so much more that you needed to here. My God man
Online golf instruction just stinks. Too much talk and not enough demonstrate.
8 minutes of talking bored the shit out of me however I picked up 42 seconds of useful tips, I think🤔
He shows us nothing
You talked 6 minutes and showed the viewers 1.3 mins. Of how. You need to chance your method of teaching. Stop F talking.
