RIP Joe Strummer. The Clash will never die
Joe Strummer will never die
Wow Springsteen is attacking that guitar
Playing like Joe did ❤️
@@mollywoodcock5444 except Joe could actually play a barre chord :)
As Joe Strummer did.
Thanks for reminding us of The Only Band That Matters.
Long live The Clash! 🙌🏻❣️🤘🏻
I'm old enough to remember the Sandanista triple album by the Clash was in response to a Bruce Springsteen double album and Joe Strummer said something like, " Bruce, suck on this.". They were more alike than they realized. I hate that Joe is gone, and happy to see Bruce honoring him the way he deserves. I just don't think enough people know the genius Joe Strummer was
I love The Clash... I adore Joe Strummer and Bruce Springsteen ❤ this is amazing!
Tom’s solo was awesome
satire?
Has Max Weinberg ever broken a sweat? That dude is a living drum machine.
One of the greats
Bruce is going so hard here, I love it.
Pleasantly surprised to see Bruce nail this. 👍
It's amazing to think that Rolling Stone voted London Calling the album of the Decade for the 80's...even though it was released in 1979.. For an album to last in the popular zeitgeist for a full decade, with the transience of 'popularity' is truly the real testament to the skill and quality of The Clash.
Used to play this song in a band. There is only one way to play this tune. Balls to the wall .
A lot of people miss that. This isn't a love letter song, its a song full of cyincal rage. It's meant to be played at 11. It's meant to be an angry fuck you to the world.
troops of tomorow
Tom and Steve singing so good and so raw
Does anyone NOT remember hearing this song for the first time? I was about 12, it was 1981 or '82, I was at my friend's house and I put on side 1 of Rush's Fly By Night for him. Then he went up to his older brother's room and brought down Londing Calling and out it on. Whoa. That bass line grabs you by the throat. It's possibly the greatest rock song ever written. Much as I love Bruce, he doesn't come close to doing this song justice. No one besides the Clash can.
Love the story. Thanks for sharing your memories.
The version from the 2003 Grammys is awesome. This version is not so much, because the bassist is utter shit.
Give those who loved Joe and the Clash some love too!!! - Don't be such a one-way hard ass. - It's NOT Bruce & the E Street or Morello's song - They KNOW that -- can't they show their love for the man and the band without the "they don't do it justice" comment?
Audio quality is not great on this video, the bass has kinda disappeared, but Bruce's performance is top class as usual. It's a truly great song by The Clash..
It isn't that the bass has disappeared, it is that the bass player isn't playing the bassline right at all. They are playing root notes, in the strumming pattern, not the melodic bassline that is so distinctive and drives the song so well.
Ah, you’re right I hear that now. I was gonna say the same thing first guy said.
That is a real fine observation!
I didn't realize it at first, but you are absolutely correct.
Respect!
Dude, if Little Steven wasn’t one of my favorite people already he definitely is now.
Really good. Well done Bruce, great attitude and attack!
An Amazing tribute! ❤️
Love that guitar face, Boss!
I hope Springsteen's guitar is over 18.
Lol.
i've seen you everywhere mikasa
The Boss is 90 years old and he STILL looks badass when he plays guitar. I'm not even a fan but... facts are facts right lol??
90?
74
Two thumbs up. Thanks for sharing.
The Boss give it all! !!! like it!!!
They nailed it! I thought Bruce Springsteen's rendition of Clampdown by The Clash was top notch. Joe Strummer would have been proud 😭 rip mate
One of the greatest songs of all time!
Mamma mia, fantastic
Whenever I think of a badass British character who isn't dressed up in a suit, this song plays in my head.
Billy Elliot brought me here.....song has so much meaning....more so today!!!!
New Jersey Calling
One of the best and most recognizable aspects of this song was Paul Simonon's iconic bass line. You can barely hear it on this track as they really drowned it out with the guitars.
Great cover
Nicely done. But nothing beats the original clash version
Dinamite!!impressionanti!!😅😅😍😘🎸🎸🎸🎶🎶💯
The Boss, Tom Morello, and Reverend Joe Strummer from the Great Beyond.... add Woody Guthrie, and it would be the Mount Rushmore of working class heroes...
As for Little Stevie Van Zandt.... unfairly to him, I cannot NOT envision him as Silvio, despite the fact that he was famous for decades before the first episode of Sopranos.
spot on about stevie haha he'll always be silvio to me
The two most important bands in history CLASH, making Joe proud.
Where the hell is the bass player? Strummer/Jones are pure genius. Last great Rock and Roll band.
better than I expect
Jersey Calling...
I'm sure someone already made that joke since I'm a few years late here lol!!
respect
This is awesome but it makes me realize how Strummer was a vocal power house.
never go half assed on the clash
Too bad the bass player didn't get the memo.
Slicing his hand like Parma ham...he got parma hand
Joe Strummer chiede giustizia per George Floyd
Ma che ca?
I feel pretty bad for those guitar strings…
Tabs of this solo please?? Hahahaha
The audience looks really interested 😂😂. Some covers should never be attempted. Rip joe
Better the Green Day’s Rockaway Beach. Good job Bruce.
WE need ya JOE
Not enough grimy sweaty unemployed poverty on stage to make this work. This is the Disney version.
Two Tele players doing a tribute to another Tele player
another monophonic, compression overloaded upload from the RRHF...... ruining great performances daily since.......oh, I don't know, since they started uploading, maybe ?
Seriously, the bass line is so important to the song and they totally suffocated it.
@@ralelunar The bassist isn't playing it correctly, I can hear what he's playing, it is practically duplicating the guitars, staying in time with their strumming pattern, it isn't standing out like it should. That bassist has no clue how to play it. If you watch him playing it in the beginning, he is totally simply playing the root, in the strumming pattern, underneath the guitar. Not Simonon's distinctive bassline that is essentially the main melodic component to the guitars that are just chopping away. If I were Bruce, I would fire the guy, that shit is embarrassing.
Kyle Maclachlan on the drums
silvio dante⁉️😳
He's been lead guitarrist in the E street band (the band that plays with the boss) since nearly the beggining.
idk bout this one
Thank God Tom didn’t do any grandstanding and make it all about him. 🙄
That fucking bass player should be fired. He butchered one of the most important elements of this song, that distinctive bassline. I don't know if you know this, buddy, but playing root notes in time with the strumming pattern is NOT how you play bass to this song. JFC.
This is the only time I’ve
Liked Bruce Springsteen maybe it’s cuz my mom loved him and she’s narcissistic piece of crap that it’s turned me off a tiny bit but this shocked me…
Bruce Springstein really be playing guitar Taylor Swift style
sing if your glad to be gay
Well... they tried
Morello Shouldn’t be on the same stage as the E street band
#Trump2024TheOnlyChoiceToSaveAmerica
Murdered it.😡
Some wannabes attempting to emulate one of the greatest rock bands.
La mejor banda del mundo es la e street band
Wow, talk about lame. Springsteen and Morello just made one of the coolest rock songs ever, not-cool.
Lol
Not digging Morello's solo. Not at all. The rest of it's great.
He tried to do it as much punk as he could :-P
Nah that’s just his style, the real problem was the nonexistent bass.
Just no no no. Stay in your lane.
Butchered a classic
Brucie really needs to be carefull otherwise his hair plugs may fall out....apart from that it was totally embarrassing.
Tom is the Jimi of our generation..
