  • Tara Brach: Living with Courageous Presence [2019-02-06]
The essence of courage is to willingly feel our vulnerability; this is what allows us to respond to life with an undefended, wise heart. This talk explores the ways we resist opening to vulnerability, and three key steps in cultivating a courageous presence.

Thank you. I am learning to let go; to let be; and to bare myself with arms wide open and with an honest, forgiving, compassionate, caring, supportive, gentle, tender heart_ I am finding that what goes around comes around. I feel blessed.

    Thank you Tara.
You guys will correct my approximate memory : "Emotional pain won't kill you, running away from it will"

So timely in my experience. And such holy words that bring us the truth of real freedom. To sit with all that tears down within and without and then let it all go; that is the courage we seek and need for our world.

I would love for Olaudah Equiano to be the focus of the story about Thomas Clarkson. And the other Black people who travelled with them. Sharing their pain, again and again, and hoping people would be convinced of their humanity. And it taking 30 years.

When you are able to hold your head up and back, bearing your most vulnerable throat to the savage beast, and then you willfully allow that beast to take what it pleases while you embrace the beast and the entire cosmos with arms and heart spread wide open, then you will have dispelled your demons and fears and be free.

Just a side note : Krishnamurti filed many law suits against his assistants... He also asked his mistress (his best friend and long-term assistant's wife) to get an abortion. And when questioned about this behavior he replied angrily : "I have no ego!" (See After the Exctasy the Laundry). So... He it seems he did mind what happened. Quite a lot.
